- A bill introduced by Senate Republicans could be the first step in fulfilling one of President-elect Donald Trump’s campaign promises: dismantling the Department of Education. Sen. Mike Rounds, R-S.D., introduced the Returning Education to Our States Act, a bill that would eliminate the Education Department, redistribute its responsibilities to other federal agencies and send federal funds directly to states.

YES!
PLEASE DO!
BY ALL MEANS!
I'LL SWING THE WRECKING BALL!
Do it!
Yes send it to the states so states like Mississippi so they can use the money to build a clubhouse to give money to people like Bret Farve for things like this. Republicans do not want people to be educated, so they can turn this country into a right wing fairyland, by electing people like Donald Trump.
The Department of education has existed since late 70s and does anyone really think they've helped in a significant manner?
Depends if you’re a Teachers Union or not. Oh, wait.. you meant help kids. Then no, in fact it has probably hurt them with leftist indoctrination.
Their record shows they’ve done the opposite
People used to get good educations before the DoE. The quality of education has consistently gone down pretty across the board since.
@ yeah I was amazed how many things have been going downhill for education since the department of education was made
Did you form your opinion after the election?
Should have never been Instituted.
It was Carter’s gift to the Unions. Dept of Ed For the Teachers Union, by the Teachers Union.
Yes yes yes...Let states handle there schools...Federal goverment has been to big for way to long...Save tax dollars and give it to local teachers...
Reading the major typos in your comment proves to me that we need to increase the budget for education.
@@rogerlonghorn2425 They're not typos. He doesn't know there, their and they're. He also doesn't know to, too and two.
It's become an agency that just issues threats not advice and actual help to states and local school districts.
get it done
Department of Indoctrination
Beat me to that one. This is exactly what the DOE is.
@kai-jm7bb The department of education enforces minimum requirements for education. The fact that half of the states in the union can't seem to meet those standards is the problem.
@@Yashuryabetcha That is, of course, a huge problem, and there can be, and are, multiple problems. A kid at one of my local schools flunked a quiz because he checked "only women can get pregnant". In Biden's 1984 men can too apparently. Biden tied school lunches for poor kids to gender idenity ideology, Boys not allowed in the girls locker room? Poor kids don't get fed. That is insane, misogynisitc, and cruel.
@@Yashuryabetcha Yes, that is a huge problem, and not the only problem.
@kai-jm7bb That's not what I was getting at. Republican-led states tend to have the lowest test scores in math, reading, and writing. Leaving education in the hands of these states is not going to help the next generation of Americans. The Department of Education is a federal stopgap to keep states from having NO standards. Which already seems to be the case.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take it apart. Let it go back to the states. It's the only way.
@@Darius-uj1gv tell everyone when you realize it is already a state thing. Just the red states won't be able to afford it. Enjoy home schooling
Good. It's way too broke to fix.
It's way too broke / woke to fix
End the waste and corruption...send the monies directly to the states.
No. Make the states raise their own money. No more federal handouts. California pays for California. Wyoming pays for Wyoming.
@bobmister250 I think that's a great idea. Blue states are already talking about getting together and excluding red states. A little secession is good for the blood. California is the 4th largest economy in the world. Let's see how things go without that tax money going into the federal coffers.
This will be wonderful!
Fantastic news
Yes, yes.
Great Idea - Got worse Every Year since they were formed ! Just an employment destination for Useless Degrees ! 👍

"No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth!"
Ronald Reagan
So true coming from the man who tried. However perhaps they will succeed this time.
No government was founded on the ideals of libertarianism.
@@Alckee Aside from those that were, including the U.S. government. It was all about freedom from oppression and supranational governance over which the people had no control. Granted, there are now multiple distinct libertarian perspectives but the power and freedom to govern yourself as much as possible is the key principle. Libertarian communism/socialism, however, is an oxymoron since the principle of private property being a hindrance to workers owning and managing the means of production results in the government owning everything "on behalf" of the working class. This why leftist liberals will never be true liberals; they believe in the nationalization of private property and the means of production, which defeats the whole purpose of libertarianism.
@@WolfHeathenlibertarianism with freedom from oppresion is an oxymoron.
a good start
End it. Local schools don't need the federal government getting in the way of educating.

Delete the Department of UnEducation
Shut it down.
Well, considering the fact that the department of education was created by executive order in the first place, it can be undone by executive order
Excellent-E!
Dem's still want those kickback from Student Loan agencies.

Example that applies to the news?

@RobertMJohnson Hey we found the guy that has no clue what he is talking about about but keeps using the same line over and over again. Come up with something new buddy, you've played yourself out already
Bout damn time!!
We don't need a bill from the legislature this can be done at the executive level and that's what we voted for.
No it can't. Money is allocated by Congress and the President cannot shut down agencies that are funded by Congress.
Shut it down
For anyone wondering "WHY?" umm maybe because you got 5th graders who can't do simple math and college students who don't know the difference between an Essay and a College research paper..
We can't leave dumb maga kids behind anymore.
Good! ❤❤❤
According to the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), approximately 222,000 bridges in the United States need major repairs or replacement. This figure represents about 36% of all bridges in the country.
Correct, Please see amendment 10
Given current technological reality all education can be free. K thru Bachelors. Bring the system up to speed. Individually paced learning, Avatar Teachers, AI. ... come on gang, join the 21st century. Give 'em a nice sturdy tablet. Ta Da. Done. Hurray, a Bill I support.
Get it done. Put the money to DHS

They can also do it through budget reconciliation. No money, no Department.
Do away with NEA
Local schools always complain there broke. I wonder why?
Moving swiftly, I like it
Atta Boy Mike!
oh no don't dismantle the bolshevik DOE, no no
Isn’t the point of ending the doe to save the money??? So why would they send the money to the states???
Federal funding needs to stop 🛑. Why does the federal government think they need to fund states or corporations who will profit.... like funding upgrades to phone or Internet.
Jimmy Carter did this for pay back for the teacher union.
I wonder where all the lotto money goes supposedly to department of education ?
"No Child Left Behind" was the harbinger of DEI.

Save America by reducing the size of the government.😊.
This bill wouldn’t need 60 votes In the senate. It’s not one of those type of bills.
I don't known where nearly year round education for kids came from, but its been horrible for kids to have summers for activities they can great benefit and grow from.

State government should be mostly out of K-12 schools too.

Good luck with privatizing education with unregulated, no oversight charter schools, ripe for the grift and graft. Is for profit privatization going to improve outcomes?
No one has ever mentioned privatizing.
as opposed to the Marxist post modern travesty that public k-12 is today? GLADLY, Marxist vahj

If you want some rando from the backside of the mountain deciding education for their school district with no guidelines, then you can't complain about immigrants taking your jobs. I say do it because the people who actually support this move are going to be the ones harmed by it, same as electing Trump.
Some of these comments show how completely ignorant people are about what the department of education does. They don't tell states what to teach or how.
The least educated maggots have the most to say about education.
no...NEVER! never ever
I approve. Home schooling 5 kids, of whom 2 have graduated. All of them read well above average, and far better than most people I've seen.
Should a person that believes the earth is flat home school their kids?
@bigvaxmeanie925 They likely won't do much worse than compulsory tax subsidized schools. For all the money that has been spent, all that is noticeable is a lot of new tax exempted buildings, and new computers, while basic academic development is lacking.
@@bigvaxmeanie925 it is their choice, you fascist Marxist control freak

@@workingbum if you cared about the kids, you would be rooting for Trumps plan to succeed. Instead, you just want to be right. Why not wait and see and hope that it works out for the kids?
Do scrap it are kids wil l be better off.
Just think critically for a moment. For quite a while, people did not trust any politician to be ethical. Now all of a sudden people worship one side and think "their side" wont find a way to skim/disappear money that is now is fully in their control to spend? Oklahoma politicians, for instance, made a law that forced the state to buy religious texts from a company that the party directly supported (think of it as legal money laundering). As the saying goes, follow the money. Should the department be eliminated, where will these funds be spent? What happens if a politician doesn't have your kids best interest at heart? What if a state runs out of money for education?
Politicians will find a way to enrich themselves at the cost of the people they supposedly represent by touting the "free" market (see for profit private prisons lobbying states for more nonsense laws being made and enforced to fill their jails for slave labor and the government paying them the more people are incarcerated regardless of crime committed). I can very easily see money being funneled away from public schools and sent to private schools that kick back that money back to politicians or they will get money because they align with whatever narrative or agenda the politician is trying to spread. Who ends up paying more and getting less? The people; it's always the people that get screwed over.
The people that need to read this can't read.
No one ever claimed that the department was " educating " children. The department has never told states how to structure their curriculum.
Exactly. And that's why it will be gone very soon because there's no need for it to exist and there never was. ADIOS!!!
oh NEVER. never ever has the federal government done ANYTHING that influences the curriculum and schedules and protocols of public schools. right. that NEVER happened

The exact amount of money saved by having better roads is difficult to quantify precisely, as it depends on various factors like the extent of the improvement, location, and economic conditions. However, studies and research have shown that investing in better roads can yield significant economic benefits:
* **Reduced Vehicle Operating Costs:** Well-maintained roads reduce wear and tear on vehicles, leading to lower maintenance costs for individuals and businesses.
* **Increased Fuel Efficiency:** Smoother roads allow for better fuel efficiency, saving money on fuel costs.
* **Reduced Traffic Congestion:** Improved infrastructure can alleviate traffic congestion, saving time and fuel for commuters and businesses.
* **Enhanced Safety:** Better roads reduce the risk of accidents, leading to fewer injuries, fatalities, and associated healthcare costs.
* **Economic Growth:** Improved transportation infrastructure attracts businesses and industries, stimulating economic growth and job creation.
While specific figures can vary, it's clear that investing in better roads has a positive impact on the economy. The long-term benefits often outweigh the initial costs of construction and maintenance.
