Early 1970's Magnavox promotional film, distributed to Magnavox dealers on Technicolor Sound-Movie Cartridges. These were short film-loops that could be viewed in-store on a small display projector device.
I own a 1968 Magnavox Mediterranean Credenza Stereo Console. Thanks for posting this. Console Stereos sound so amazing and though Mine is over 50 years old, still sounds incredible. The announcer is right.... Magnavox consoles are amazing and incredibly well-built.
I know someone with the one depicted at 3:49 in clip, it's made of a fake plastic wood, with fake handles , however the stereo separation is phenomenal on it..
Magnavox really dipped in quality in the mid to late 70s. I have an earlier 1966 Magnavox stereo console and it’s all hardwood even the top sliding covers were real wood, however most stereo consoles from the late 50s and later have fake handles, it was more of a design choice to make it blend in with other the furniture in the room.
I remember owning a big console like this - it pretty much filled my first apartment living room, and eventually it became a stand for some huge bird cages. Played records, had AM/FM radio, and had great sound. I think I bought it in the mid 70's. I got rid of it by the late 1980's and have never owned another console.
As a kid of the 1960's - 70's, we never had any of that nonsense. A large RCA 25" is a box type cabinet sitting on a low slung table sort of affair made for that. For music, my parents had component audio equipment. They looked down on the console stuff. In later years, they got smart and purchased several Sony Trinitrons after my suggestion.
As a kid of the 70’s I recall my parents having a TV cabinet. Ahhhh the 70’s ,where big brown or Orange tacky furniture and shaggy rugs were the cats meow .
Well you know some of the plastic in the cabinet was probably because of costs if that was all hand done it would have probably been at least one or two thousand dollars more
I have a astrosonic Imperial from 67 that has the R2R built in... they used plastic because... if they used real wood it would take 2 men and a boy just to move them...mine weighs 300 lbs without real wood

I don't think the Spanish used plastikon in their woodwork cabinets .....
I own 2 different consols one of which is the octagonal. I think one of the speakers is coming loose. Otherwise it still works well.
