Dear Ellen ❤, thank you so much for your video on Noro! I just fell in love with their yarn (currently knitting a Pressed Flowers Cardigan using Noro Viola as my flowers) and that's how I found your channel here - and promptly subscribed! You're so right that the colors play with each other to offer such surprising combinations. I'm with you to not cut out colors so that I can fully appreciate and allow the artisans at Noro's original intent to show through and surprise me :)
Hey there, Kate! Thank you so much! I’m so glad you found the channel too-I’m a dedicated Nuro addict😀 I would love to see your pressed flowers cardigan!
Hello you made me fall in love with Noro Yarn. I just order your 2024 Fall Noro Yarn Club and two other items 😅 I’m in southern PG MD. Hopefully I can make it to your shop on a Tuesday very soon. Thanks for sharing Ellen. PS I absolutely Love Pink💗
This was great, Ellen - thank you! I have wanted to knit something from Noro for quite a while but never felt I had the right project for it. I worked for a Japanese manufacturer for more than 30 years and have been there a LOT (more than 100 times). In my experience (although high-tech, not crafts), I am sure that the characteristics of the yarn are not an accident, but totally planned down to the last detail. I am sure that the desire to protect the environment and to reflect nature is real. NJ Wool Walk just started today and, thanks to your video, I will finally find a project suited to Noro and pick up some Noro yarn.
I’ve made one NORO Silk garden sweater using Entrelac stitches. Love it. It’s 15 years old. I think it’s time I treat myself to some more NORO. I have a hard copy book of NORO patterns that I should try to knit through 🧶🧶
I bought several different types of yarn from Noro and sadly I was very disappointed with them. They were under spun and as I knitted the yarn would just come apart. I bought two spinning wheels and now I make my own yarn and have no issues because I've done the spinning right.
I just knitted up 12 balls of wool and encountered only 1 knot. I dont mind them in wool but in cotton or linen and such, they wouldd ruin the piece unless you got ahead of them . The best thing ro do it to check the next rows worth of yarn at the beginning of each row .
Love Noro, made a sweater for my daughter using Kureyon. Question: Is Noro Kureyon considered DK weight or worsted? The skein label is not specific. Thanks!
I think it’s a beautiful yarn, just not the style I usually wear. I do think however that it would be gorgeous & amazing as an accent pillow, done up in a linen stitch? 😍
oh, and to share a candid response from one of the most gifted artists I know ( ever the most sublime observational skills, exquisite work with color, form, texture...) upon seeing the 1st Noro cardigan: "That's the most serious yarn I've ever seen"; I think he has not been drawn to knitting because heretofore in general it has appeared perfectionistic, stubbornly myopic, far too predictable ... never the case with Noro - calls into question why we knit 😊❤️💫🫶❤️❤️💫🫶
I have bought 7 different Noro yarns. I knitted a shawl, hat, cardigan and a Ranunculus. Noro yarn is not for people who have to have everything match.
I am a NORO Junkie. However, I no longer use it for something that I am going to wear unless I can wear another shirt underneath as Yup, it can be scratchy. But the colors, ohhh the colors.
Certain Noro yarns are definitely not for next to skin wear, but plenty of the cotton and silk blends are fine against the skin. Have you tried Sonata or Kakigori?
@@joyceshankland5126 Well, tthere was one, Okunoshima, but they discontinued that one last season as well. I think a lot of people are not really comfortable with angora. They don't give it what it needs to bloom and be its beautiful self. All Noro yarns, especially angora blends, need a nice warm bath to release all the fibery goodness trapped inside during the spinning process. I wrote an article about it in last summer's Noro Knitting Magazine. Did you see that?
@CrazyForEwe No I didn't see it as I've not bought a magazine for a long time. Thanks for your reply and information on Noro beautiful yarn, and happy knitting and hello from Scotland 🏴🧶😊
Lovely to meet you, Joyce! Where in Scotland are you? I have visited several times and loved it. We visited Edinburgh and the surrounding regions, then the Highlands, then the isle of Skye. ❤️🏴
Sorry but the quality used to be really low. Kochoran was respectable but that kept on shedding. I recently bought a ball of Yukata and that is very soft and tweedy for a wool. But Kureyon is too rough.
😊🫶'dyed in the wool' Noro ❤️❤️here; last year- 2 cardigans and a pull-over ( silk garden, silk garden sock and Ito) Appreciate your analogies; never boring; akin to an 'unputdownable' good read; further, an embrace and study of the ancient archipelago from which the yarn concept springs - ( n.b. softer and softer with each wearing ) xo do give it a go 😊
Hello! I really liked the show) could you make a selection of SONATA color combinations for "03 - Cape May" from the latest issue of Noro 22? Thank you🌷
I would be happy to do that for you! Why don’t you reach out to me on my website, crazyforewe.com. Click the chat button and we can work together on that! It would be so much fun.!!!❤️
Have you taken apart a garment and redo it with any noro? I want to take it apart and i am afraid that it will be soo felted that i will not be able to take it apart
It’s like feeling well again after being sick, or eating a meal after a time of fasting, and some of the most beautiful people I have known have gone through great times of suffering. Loved your talk. I understand Noro better now, and I totally love those unexpected pops of color! Thank you! … I used Noro for the first time recently, was not entirely sold on it until the project was complete. And then, I LOVED it! I even made a short slide show of it, on my channel if your interested. It’s easy to find since I don’t have many videos. 😅
Hi! Totally understand with some of the earthier fibers, but have you tried Akari or Sonata or Kakigori? All of these are mostly non-wool and quite soft 😀
This was the most poetic yarn segment I have seen! Loved it!
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

Great! I think you will enjoy working with it! If you sign up for the spring Noro club with me you’ll get to try all the Noro yarns!
Love Kureyon! Love the rustic feel and colors.
Me too!!

Yes! Noro is timeless. Which hard cover Noro book do you have?
I bought several different types of yarn from Noro and sadly I was very disappointed with them. They were under spun and as I knitted the yarn would just come apart. I bought two spinning wheels and now I make my own yarn and have no issues because I've done the spinning right.

Yes indeed.

Kureyon is heavy worsted.
I think it’s a beautiful yarn, just not the style I usually wear. I do think however that it would be gorgeous & amazing as an accent pillow, done up in a linen stitch? 😍
Understood. You could also try Noro Kakigori which is much more subtle and easy to wear.
I have only used Noro for one sweater.

You are right. Noro asks that you give up control a bit. Not the easiest thing for some people 😀

@@CrazyForEwe Not yet but I probably will in the future
If anyone is afraid to venture down the Noro path they should knit a cowl or a pair of mitts. 🐑
Yes! Great idea!
I just bought some ! I'm working a swatch now. The colors and texture are fascinating! I'm used to working in wool but now I want to play.
What yarn is the lovely cardigan you're wearing ?😊
That is called the Seville Jacket by Oat Couture. I knit it in Noro Kochoron which sadly has been discontinued
@CrazyForEwe what a shame, its a beautiful yarn! Why does companies always discontinue lovely items,is there one similar in Noro yarns today thanks?

It should be fine. Once you’ve united, you’ll want to wind the Yarn into a loop and give it a good steam to take the kinks out.
Love it!!

Right?!?
Love the colors, hate the feel.

Is there a way to launder or treat kureyon to remove some of the scratchiness? Does siaking in Eucalon or
Washing kureyon, or any Noro, definitely softens it quite a bit.
Your sweater is a sunset.
It sure is- maybe that’s why I like it so much!
The struggle with finding something inversely proportional was very endearing. Very informational as well
All I could think of at the time was the ideal gas law PV=NRT 🤪
Hey
Hey! Glad you’re here!
