I ordered this blind and now I'm glad I did. Looks simple enough to explain with tough decision making throughout. Can't wait to play this at family dinner night! Thanks for another comprehensive teach, Rodney.
Anyone imagining Alternate Universe Rodney who runs a TH-cam channel called "Watch It Splayed" whose shelves are full of random sea shells and glass knickknacks which he demos on camera. And at the start of every video he grabs a fragile object off the shelf and then spin-chucks it into the air solely for style points? No? Just me?
Rodney, thanks very much for another excellent “Watch It Played!”. What I like most about this game is the way it combines three well known game mechanisms - action selection, set collection, and tile placement - into a simple, intuitive, quick, and beautiful looking game. This looks like a good, easy-to-teach gateway game for non gamers.
Excellent teach. I appreciate the list of "chapters" so I can choose the topic if I need to rewatch. Getting this to the table this evening and watched the tutorial so I could teach my hubby.
I was deciding between this game and My Shelfie. After watching this video, I will purchase The Whatnot Cabinet. I like the mechanics of this game much better. Thanks Rodney for a thorough explanation .
Love the video Rodney! I don't know how much of a perfectionist you are but I got a weird green bar glitch at 9:35 and some black frames earlier in the video, but nothing that stopped me from being able to understand and enjoy the video. Keep up the great work!
How bizarre - I see them too. They aren't in the original file, or in any of the previous test uploads, so this must have occurred during the upload of the final version. Thank you for letting me know. Hard to know how to address it at this point, as re-uploading would harm the health of the video, but glad to be aware in case I see other comments about it.
This game looks so relaxing and nice for the most part. I'm worried about the score cards that you can win before other players, but I would love to give it a try and see how it feels for myself. Definitely looks lovely.
Hi Rodney! We saw this game on your channel and decided to buy it. We played it for the first time for our 8th anniversary tonight. We loved it. There was one thing we weren't totally sure about, even though we went over the rules and your awesome sauce video. After each player's turn, are the four tiles in the "outside" area repopulated? For example, if a player takes 2 cards from the "outdoor" area, does she replace those cards before the end of her turn, so that the next player has 4 cards in the "outdoor" area to choose from? Or not? I hope this question makes sense! We were not too sure between us. What we really enjoyed was getting such a great overview of the game from your video and playing together. It's a delightful game that's great to play in between more intense games and the artwork is glorious.
Hey there Ben, so glad you're enjoying (and thank you for the kind words about the video). You don't do any replacing, other than what the actions allow. Hope that helps!
Hi Rodney! Huge fan of your content - is there a reason you don’t also credit Beth Sobel at the beginning of this video? I found it a bit odd considering Beth is credited on the box between Steve & Eduardo.
Hello Abigail, it’s a little confusing because Beth is on the cover with the other names, but not as a designer - she was the artist (and an incredible one at that), and I only mention the designer and publisher in that introduction. To be sure, lots of talented folk contribute to a game’s production, including other artists, editors, etc.
At 2:05 you say for a 2 player game you remove the tiles, in the rules (and I seen it mentioned anywhere) it says this is for an advanced 2 player game - or is this not true?
This game looks great! But does anyone else have that weird ocd thing where it's hard to buy games that aren't the same box size as the others? I love it when all the boxes line up on the shelves!

I think I'm going to rewatch those. I find them relaxing.
I guess someone playing Monopoly had to find a suitable replacement.
@@toweypat Ha! Well played Patrick :)
@@toweypat good one 😃
Rodney is the MAN. I always pray that he does an instructional video for any game I buy. #1 game explanations hands Down.
Very kind of you to say Paul! Have fun playing :)

I've been playing a lot of this in solo since the Kickstarter arrived - and Beth Sobel's art is simply divine!
So pleasing! Glad you've been enjoying the game :)

You're very welcome - glad it was helpful!
I get kingdomino with hints of Sagrada vibes from this game, and that's a good thing! Great tutorial as always Rodney!!
Thanks Nichosis - glad you enjoyed what you saw :)
We adore this game so much, have been playing nonstop!
So glad you've been enjoying it too :)

Have a great time playing Gran!

Thanks for checking it out!
Looks fun. Side note - I just realized how long it’s been since you wore the official polo and how much it doesn’t matter. Keep up the great work. 😃👍
Thanks Dew :) Glad you're happy with the look, and still enjoying the videos :)
You are a legend.
Thanks for checking out the video!
This looks amazing!
Glad you enjoyed!
I'm glad I backed this. I got it a few weeks ago. Lovely filler game, or gateway game.
Hey Justin, glad you've been enjoying it!
What a fun theme for a game. Great video!
Thanks Henri!
this looks like a neat little game thanks Rodney
Thanks for checking it out Sean!
Fantastic content!
Thank you kindly!
Thank you, for this video.
You're very welcome Alice!
I'm a bit of a hoarder so it looks like this game is for me 😜
You'll be a natural!

@@WatchItPlayed That helps a lot! Thank you kindly! :)
Does Rodney try to pick a shirt that matches the game box?
I wonder! ;)
I am so drawn to this game
Glad you enjoyed what you saw!
Hi Rodney, can you please do how to play on Steampunk Rally Fusion. Cannot find decent how to play video about it :(
Thanks for the interest! I talk a bit about that here: th-cam.com/video/EdtDuvIUa6A/w-d-xo.html&t=342
@@WatchItPlayed :D (so I got "rickrolled", again :D) but please consider, maybe do it some day. I think you would make a best video about it. :)

The rules probably should have worded it as "extra steps for a 2 player game", so it wouldn't sound like it was a special advanced format.
@@WatchItPlayed ok thanks - I’ll remove the tiles 😉
Looks pretty cool. But then I like pretty much anything that Keith matejka is associated with 😂
Rodney is so cool

I just start a new stack for the new shaped boxes :)
Rodney’s cat is rough....
Someone please put this in tabletop simulator
Glad you enjoyed checking it out!
I chose to believe the monopoly house story, but it is curious that you made a video in which you still had to pick up the object.
I was out vlogging that day and saw it on the ground. Seemed like something worth capturing to this gamer! th-cam.com/video/J9ICNUWIhBE/w-d-xo.html
