Moore when he got into a solo on piano, nothing better, but our related Scots, we love you, but the pipes are hard on our ears. I've enjoyed bags before. Anyway, love your upload Melonhead622
Dudley will be gone 20 years this month. He died in March of 2002. What a lovely and talented man he was and how I miss him. He was well loved by those he worked with in music and in film. The tribute his many friends gave him shortly before he died touched him deeply. Progressive supra nuclear palsy was an especially cruel disease for someone who so loved playing the piano. I watch these videos of him over and over because my love and admiration for his talent will never end.
When he plays with the other guys, you see the real, genuine love and happiness in his face. Gorgeous man. Fabulous musician. He will always be missed. Loved him then. Love him now.
A true comedy genius with so much talent. His comic personality was natural and effortless, great to see him here in full flow in his element doing what he did best, entertaining and bringing joy.
I grew up laughing thanks to Dudley and Peter Cook in the 1960s (and they're both still doing it now thanks to You Tube), and so my love for both of them runs deep and true. Dudley was such a talented, modest and adorable individual, he would've made a brilliant violinist, in whatever he put his efforts into he excelled it seems. Thanks for sharing, but mostly thank you universe, life, love, light for them and those like them!
An adorable man. I fell in love with him in the movie Arthur and was fascinated with him since. After research discovered the musical talent he possessed as well. Its tragic the way he lost his life. He's missed.
He seemed to make it easy to fall in love with him didn't he? What a charming, charismatic, talented, gentle man he seems to have been. There's no one with talent like his anymore.
A great guy. One meeting in my life I'll never forget was with him. We ended up in stitches - we actually made each other laugh - but then I retire in deference to a superb and versatile talent.
John Perks You were VERY lucky indeed John, I'm jealous. I could tell Dudley was the same in person like he appeared on screen, a GREAT talent. I wished I had the pleasure of meeting Dudley in person. :D
As charismatic and funny as he is (and he really is!) the piano is his comfort zone. When he does the Schubert parody I suddenly remembered just what a fine musician he was and the Beethoven/Colonel Bogey was utterly brilliant. A man of many talents and sadly missed.
So love this musician. He played Rachmaninov piano concerto with the now-defunct Nevada Symphony Orchestra in the 90s. The performance was a fund-raiser for the Nevada Ballet. I was lucky to play one of the second violins. His slight hight didn't defer all of the women in the orchestra crowding around him before the performance. He exuded tons of charm and charisma one was compelled to be close to him. This is a treasure. Thank you for posting.
Dudley Moore and Robin Williams were very similar. Both hilarious and absolute geniouses at what the did, both short in the body height department, and both with this inexplicable sadness in their eyes (reflecting the depression inside) once all the laughter died down. They are both missed by all of us.
... and I don't think being short is a detail, when at 17 I realize I was in the short guys club I knew I would struggle whether with women or men... easy to speak about self-confidence but it will always feel like you are compensating because once a short guy always a short guy, the only good mechanism is humor because when you start with self-derision you shortcut any attempt to get you and it becomes your way of making your presence noticed... but deep inside you will always be insecure and sad. Sure there are other demons than physical appearance but I believe there is always a correlation between the lives we lead and the way we look.
The reason why I luved Dudley so much is b/c he had SO MUCH TALENT but never took himself very seriously and was very HUMBLE (despite his successes)... He was 1 in a MILLION-!!! 🤔🙂😁😆🤣👍✌
Oh such a talent! I first saw him in Foul Play. Again in Arthur. See I was in high school, so I couldn't watch 10 until many years later. I had such a crush on him. Still do! Watching his movies and him performing music still makes me smile. Nice to see Micky Dolenz in the group and his wife Donna. Micky moved to England shortly after the MONKEES. He became good friends with all the IT people over there. Dudley Moore is still missed, but we still have him in his recordings. He will live on!
The Beethoven parody is absolute genius. Dudley, your pianistic technique in both classical and jazz genres was formidable. I wish with all my heart that I'd known you.
So much talent in all respects I have always loved and admired this guy. Such a shame that nobody was there for him at the end. People soon forget all that you have been when your flame dies down
His friend, Rena Fructer, with whom he played piano duets in his final years, took care of him and was with him when he died. His Hollywood friends also gave him a lovely tribute before he died.
Bottom line is..... thank goodness we are able to see this little clip. I note the various comments below of peoples expectatations being blown. So what! This is about a snapshot of a moment in time that we are fortunate to get to see. Not many of us would be as capable of being real in this situation as I suggest many of us can not be real even in real life. It was so good to see Dudley Moore .... as a real bloke. A real talented bloke. ❤️
This is a great post and I look forward to watching the whole thing again this afternoon! Dudley Moore is an absolute GENIUS....incredibly funny and so very witty! I still remember the first time I found out that he played the piano! Such an accomplished pianist....I nearly fell on the floor after hearing his first formal performance! GREAT stuff :-)) Thanks so much! ~Jackie
Dudley Moore you are so much missed. I am learning piano and hope to one day play as well as you did. Today I'm watching as many videos as I can find of you playing the piano and performing for all the laughs you gave me as an 80s kid growing up. I'm sure you are entertaining all the Angels right now:)
This is such a great find for me. I recorded this onto audio cassette when it was on (whilst telling all the family in the room to keep quiet) and thought I'd never see or hear it again. I still remember all the phrases and jokes as if it was yesterday! Wonderful!
Somehow I missed that they ever did one of these with Dudley Moore. Maybe it was before I was old enough to appreciate him and Cook, he looks very young there.
Thank you for sharing. So much is now available on TH-cam that we never saw in Oz at the time, for too many reasons to list. I admired this man both as a musician, and a comic: hard to decide which he was best at. Both, I conclude. He could have given Victor Borge a run for his money, if he'd chosen that genre. Moore's parody of Benjamin Britten's work (part of 'Beyond the Fringe') is satire edging towards genius.
@@taraalan1131 not to most people. Your only a genius if you make Everyone laugh. Dudley made Everyone laugh. And for me being a black female/American. It is hard to get a black audience to laugh w/o using the audience for material.
Both Dudley Moore and Mick Jagger came from the Dartford/Dagenham area of East London and kent. I don't know what it was about that area but it produced two brilliant music entertainers around the same time.
I always thought that Dudley was actually like Amadeus... brilliantly, effortlessly musical and also possessed of a very ribald sense of humour, and also self conscious about small stature. And able to range from the sacred to the profane.

There will NEVER be, couldn't be, another Dudley Moore. More talent in his little finger than most modern performers, and MODEST with it. What a man!

Beautful comment.
Thank you so much for posting this delightful evening with Dudley Moore. More talent than should have been legal for one person to have!
I'm afraid I could never really appreciate Jazz, but Dudley provided so many magical moments in my life that I was prepared to give it a try. (R.I.P.)
What a huge talent, an exceptional gift as a musician and as a comedian.
Not many people have the mastery that Dudley Moore had. A talent that most have never truly appreciated. Much much missed.

I also fell in love with him...it was his sweetness, his kindness and very special humor. I could listen to him play a d sing at the piano all night.
I also do .

5 foot 2 with two club feet, but even in Cook’s prime the girls always preferred Dudley.
Miss him so much. His work was terrific, musically and comedically.

Did anyone else see Mickey Dolenz (sp) from the band, The Monkees, in the upper right area? He was truly enjoying himself as I would expect.

i very much disagree- Cook was a natural comic genius, one of the best ever.

He was hilarious in Foul Play with Goldie Hawn.
