When this video released i was stuck on small-band (over here we only get a fixed ammount of gigs to download). I did not want to spoil the experience for myself by watching it in 360p, so i waited untill yesterday to watch it on my new smart-tv in full HD. This was so cool to watch on a big screen and i'm amazed how your video editing skills keep improving. That 12m vertical swim-through looks awesome!
Whoooo! Hoooo! Yay no narration (while underwater) and yippee on the text box's (those are good!) And now let me tell you what is the best besides your music and dives and all this lovelyness...really...I love to see it when you start pumping away at climbing the ladder to the top...It Drives Me Wild! Don't edit this when you climb up parts...it's... it's... like watching an athlete underwater AND unable to breathe...you have me on the edge edge edge!!!

Your channel is a really good way for me to see what is possible with free diving. I live in the south of New Zealand so the water is mostly too cold and dark to do much but I still greatly enjoy watching your videos. Thanks :)
+uga290 I am from south africa. I think the water in SA is very similar to NZ. I believe there is a freediving scene in NZ if you want to get involved. Also your in such a perfect location for potentially diving in Tahiti, Fiji, Samoa, etc. All the best!
This is a really impressive fascinating video! Great colorful picture, great music, good transmission of peace spirit condition! Watched it many times. Thank you very much for this video and entire channel.
Hey awsome video....love the editing....i also recently started freediving and your videos have been a great insperation...look forward to seeing more.....
+Loony Guy Don't be fooled - On social media we all are guilty of only put up the parts of out lives we want others to see. Thanks for the positive comment though. All the best for the future.
been there before but cant go till that depths, then i just snorkled around the place. Great video! you should try Bunaken, Manado, North Sulawesi. its in Indonesia as well. Keep up the good work! love to see you dive again soon.
I starting to learn freediving for a month. Still on pool like 3m or 5m. Struggle doing equalize. Only got 2.05 for static. How can you hold that breath so long and doing equalize smoothly? I live in Indonesia by the way and will visit Tulamben next year. Waiting rainy season end first. By the way dope video!!
I don't get when you go up to take a breath. Do you go up when you feel like you need a breath? Or 15sec beforehand because you will still be in the water reaching to the top for air.
another awesome video from my favorite diving channel-- great job -- i hope you find some gold or silver coins! Safe diving - keep the great vids coming-
I think so. I carry my fins on sometimes... others I check them. No airline has been strict with me ever - but I also dont often fly those really cheap budget carriers that are strict about that stuff.
the current best vid of tulamben dive site. awesome viz. colours look vivid. is your protune on Gopro switched on? secondly, since you aren't scuba diving and have your own equipment, i'm guessing you just walk off the beach without the need to register or pay the dive centre to dive this site?
+urabummer Hey man. thanks for the positive comment. Yeah, protune is on. But the real reason the video is clear, is because we had 1 clear day in the week I was there, and despite having a lot of different clips from the different days - I choose to use only clips from the clear day. As for the equipment yes - its great to be able to just walk into the water, no registration, fees, permits or whever else - just dive. If you ever saw my "seaplant wreck" video - that video was a good example of skipping all the official channels - i took my own inflatable kayak in my suitcase and paddled out 3km to the site - everyone else need pay permit+dive boat+ dive master fees.
On the deep side of the wreck by the cargo hold, how deep is it? I managed to touch the bottom with no freediving experience and I want to know how deep I got! Thanks in advance :)
Hi Dean. I'm preparing to dive at Tulamben. What do you think about the minimum ability to freedive at tulamben like, minimum static apnea time you need to mastered, and minimum length of dynamic apnea? Would highly appreciate if you could share pool sets training needed before freediving at this spot :)
+Denny Nurparamita It's an easy spot you can dive with just snorkelling skills if you just stay at the shallow parts. If you want to swim through the main section, thats like 17m if you touch the bottom... and some horizontal swimming. I would say an new AIDA 2 student which i think needs to 2:30 static, 16m dive and DYN 50, could dive most of this wreck.
Great Video Dean, I have a question regarding your shots, it gives the feeling you have two cameras on the pole one recording you and one recording to the front, or is it two different dives with the same camera?
+PR Freedivers Hey man thanks. In the early days I used a head strap and 2 cams. But now I only have 1 camera, so now I normally do each dive twice, and try to take the same path each time. Normally I have to repeat the dives more than that, because scuba diver doing somehting stupid in the vid, then i need do it again.... then later i have problems matching up the clips... bit of a headache.
Respect for that dude. You had good viz. What time of year was it? I just spent 2 weeks on it to re-map for freedivers. Will put together a short video over the next month as a teaser. I think I saw you in DD's video too...
thank you dean!! good video!! it's interesting to see you diving and meeting scuba divers at the same place.. I'm wondering, what do they think about you when they see you? haha I mean.. you are diving beside them without any scuba gear or breathing gear.. very nice!! hahah thank you again, freedive always!!
Pretty cool haha But i think that freediving is better, cause you have more mobility, agility and freedom when diving without a big weight on your back.. Nice..
I have always wandered isn't there urge to breath annoying? or after some practice you lose that urge? i want to try free diving but i only hold it for 30 seconds or less :( im a disgrace.
you always have the urge to breath, but you kinda get used to it, and instead use it as measure of how well the dive is going, and how much time left. When I feel the urge to breath building slow, and I know the dive is going well and im managing me air well, so I will enjoy to dive, relax and bit, and explore more. However if the urge to breath builds rapidly, it shows im too tense, not diving in a relaxed way, wasting energy, and not enjoying the dive.
+ALL AROUND AMAZIN yes..... I have seen a few. I just watch them... sometimes they are very curious. I had seem then in South Africa (7 gill sharks) and in Palau, white and black tip sharks.
+Freediver HD Oh wow. My family is going on a vacation this summer and we can't decide on going to Hawaii or Mexico. But since you've obviously done quite a bit of free-diving, which would you recommend as far as best all around diving is concerned?
Hi! I want to ask you smth. I want to start on free diving. I need some good free diving fins, they shouldnt be expensive. Do you have some ideas? Thank you for your answer in advance!!
i just finished my 2star scuba brevet but im very interested in freediving. i think i need to choose one of them. :/ or do both (freediving needs lot of training and fitness i think) what would be more enjoyable?
the FOV 170degree on land. and 170degree - 33% underwater. Holding breath depends on how active I am underwater. If I kick a lot, then less then 1:30 if I am relaxed, 1:30-2:00 underwater would be an average time.
