The fact that you will research two companies to see if one has derived much inspiration from the other - you have my respect. There's so much copying going on in the planner sphere that people just don't think about these issues. I've seen leather planners and fountain pens that are a DIRECT COPY of original designs, and people don't seem to bat an eyelash supporting the "dupes". There's nothing wrong with getting inspiration from other designs, but one could obviously see if it's direct copies. Even if the dupe were of good enough quality, the fact that it's making money from copying another design is something I cannot, in good conscience, support.
I don't have a plotter, but it seems short-lived in just about every TH-cam channel I support. They introduce the system in one video and shortly after are making another video explaining why it doesn't work. I find this intriguing because it looks like a great system! But it's also an expensive system to discard so shortly after purchase. I was drawn to their project folders myself and made some out of thicker craft paper. It was a fun project and took me less than 15 minutes. Whatever system you choose, I'm sure you will have put a lot of thought into it, and it will be enjoyable for you❤🎉 looking forward to seeing what direction you go!
I have two Plotters and love them, but for me personally I feel like it's a more functional system which is why it doesn't work for TH-camrs who are more aesthetics driven. You can't fill it with a lot of extras due to the small rings, absolutely everything inside it has to have a purpose and can't just be decoration. I think people who actually use Plotters and make it work for them just aren't on TH-cam or making videos about it as it's such a function based system, which is why it looks "unsuccessful" to outsiders.
@asootspriteart your assessment makes perfect sense! I actually tried getting my husband to look into them because it seems like a no-nonsense, highly functional system. Much to my dismay, he's keeping to his sticky note only system lol. I'm basically a TH-cam style planner without a channel so plotter isn't going to work for me 😅
Well, this was my first year journaling, & my first travelers notebook, but it didn’t take long for me to lose interest in it. I’m still glad I have it, & I’ll still watch your videos for entertainment, & hopefully inspiration. I realized that I don’t have a life worth journaling about haha. Maybe in the Spring & Summer I’ll feel differently.
I'm trying a mix where I have the daily events in the larger travellers notebook in a TC weekly, a pocket field notes style for sort of 'capture' whether that's to-do, thoughts, shopping lists or whatever, then I have a moleskine for the longform 'this is what happened today and this is how it made me feel'. It's working really well for me. Like TC - planner, Field Notes - rough capture, Moleskine - longform. Love your videos!
The project planning folders from plotter are kind of meh. You can make them yourself and I don’t think they are necessary. Wuzhi is the knockoff, but their shortened metal plates are nice imo because the corners are rounded. The plotter backplate has quite sharp corners and has scratched other things in my bag. Wuzhi only offers pueblo leather but plotter has more options.
I have a few of plotter stuff. The best thing is that the planners are compact and sleek. the project system is something you can did by yourself, to be honest, I don't think you need shop for that. BTW, if you go with plotter, you are better shop for a mini hole paper punch.

i’ve noticed this too-plotter never seems to last for my favorite youtubers too?? very weird
