Impostor syndrome is also hard for some people who have had even the minimum amount of success...

I know I'm ultimately a failure in the program, but to make it as far as I did and fail taught me a lot of myself. It wasn't a waste and it's a choice to let that consume you or define you; you can choose to learn from it and overcome smaller obstacles later to regrow.
      Be humble or get humbled.

Stolen valor hits all of us and our families on so many levels. I can say this, I don't get offended by it. That doesn't mean I tolerate it either. It isn't just the families of the fallen that are affected by this either. Those who would commit fraud and use our former jobs, but can't even do enough research to get the details that anyone who actually did the job would know, is just beyond insulting our intelligence. They are showing a lack of will to do 5 minutes worth of research on what they are spouting off about, and these days, it is so incredibly easy to prove the stories of those of us who actually did the things, yet most of us don't want to talk about those events.
I rarely like to talk about how I was awarded my medals. There are a few news paper articles, my dd214, and other documents that tell the story for me. It is one thing if someone else brings it up, then I might talk about it. It's totally different than when someone brags about something as if they really did it, and yet the details don't match up with any sort of evidence to the event. Even worse when someone does it specifically to gain something from it.
Like it was said in the clip here, those of us who actually did the job, many of us have also lost brothers in arms and their families have a loss, that is so profound that words can hardly do it justice, and yet someone else wants to cheapen and tarnish the memory of those fallen brothers in arms, just to gain something they didn't earn. Something that person will likely never understand.
