Barely getting into the hiking scene and taking full advantage of living about 2 hours south of Yosemite. I am in love with this place. I can't wait until I am more seasoned in the outdoors. "The mountains are calling..."
I hiked to Upper Yosemite Falls last weekend. It was amazing! There was snow on the trail for about half of it. That made it somewhat sketchy, but we’ll worth it when we made it to a winter wonderland on top.
If you are a backpacker, backpack to the top of Upper Yosemite falls and spend a couple nights up there. From there you can take day hikes to the top of El Capitan, Eagle Peak, North Dome and Indian Rock (the only arch in Yosemite). And make sure you go to the outlook it puts you right next to the waterfall!
The Mist Trail to Nevada Falls is beautiful and tough. Heading down is slippery near Vernal Falls especially with everyone coming up the trail. I take the John Muir Trail back from Nevada Falls and it bypasses the Vernal Falls area nicely. The Yosemite Falls trail is endlessly hard if you're not an athlete. Go slow coming down as the trail is covered in sand and the granite rocks under foot are polished smooth from 100+ years of hikers. Amazing views you'll never forget!
I took the mist trail up and John Muir trail down when I did half dome. Would certainly recommend that route. Unless you are a serious hiker and/or have trekking poles, it can be quite dangerous (would recommend trekking poles for half dome, dad had some but I didn't)
Wish I had watched this before we did the hike. We thought it would be easy coming down from Glacier point (we went up by bus), not realizing that you go up as well! Fantastic views that could not be captured by camera.
Cloud's Rest is a great strenuous hike that is less dangerous than Half Dome, 4 miles longer and 1,000' higher. Much of the Cloud's Rest hike follows the same route as the Half Dome hike.
Some also say that the view from Clouds Rest is better than from Half Dome. And, unlike Half Dome, there is no permit to worry about. It should also be noted that an easier hike to Clouds Rest can be made from Tenaya Lake (on Highway 120). But you don’t get to see Vernal and Nevada Falls if you go this way. Also, the distance and elevation gain from the valley makes it a good training hike for bigger things (like Mount Whitney, which is about the same distance and elevation gain). As far as distance to Clouds Rest vs Half Dome, Clouds Rest is actually only around 2.3 miles further according to the trail signs at the Half Dome Trail junction.
I did the mist trail to the top of nevada falls today with some friends. Wow is all i can say. The views are breath taking and so is the hike. Going down is the worst so be prepared and bring lots of water. Please be carefull and stay behind the railings it is very very slippery.
Just went to Yosemite in January of 2020. Hoping to return next summer to be able to hike Half Dome. I have to say, if you have never been to Yosemite in the winter, totally worth it.
Not trying to be that guy, video and pictures do no justice for Yosemite Valley. Make it a purpose to get there, you won't be disappointed. Also, winter time is stunning in the valley.
How are the crowds? What about going a little earlier, like April? Too snowy at elevation? I don’t mind cooler temps, but obviously snow/ice not good for hiking.
Excellent description and explanations. Thank you for saying "Vernal Fall" and "Nevada Fall." There is only one of each. Still I often hear people say "Vernal Falls" and "Nevada Falls." Maybe because they always hear of Niagara Falls. In that instance those are actually falls (more than one).
Precise and concise presentation. I’ve taken high adventure groups on all three hikes. Memories stick for everyone for a lifetime.

I envy how close you live. I saw the park for the first time in 2017 and love the uniqueness.
Thank you so much for these pictures, which I found today.
I visited Yosemite in July 1994 and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life
I was born in 1994, any words of wisdom?
Done them all, multiple times and and yearning to go back ASAP! Love Yosemite!

Itching to go back to Yosemite!!
Just did the Panorama Trail from Glacier Point and down the Mist Trail a couple weeks ago.
thank you! that was beautiful footage!!
Mist Trail awwww yea!
The last week of May is historically the highest water flow time of the year. Go then.
How are the crowds? What about going a little earlier, like April? Too snowy at elevation? I don’t mind cooler temps, but obviously snow/ice not good for hiking.
Excellent.....thanks.
Can’t wait
I'm surprised she didn't talk about the Pohono trail. Does nobody talk about this??
Yosemiti, you look always beautiful.♡☆
Thanks for vid
I’ve done all of these

Çok güzel 👌 👏
Mist Trail to Nevada Fall is easy once youve done it a few times, going to Half Dome is what will beat you to hell and wanting a feast after.
It is not the real Panorama Trail hike unless you get to Glacier Point on foot up the Four Mile Trail.
Just drive to glacier point lol
Sehr schöööööööööööööööööööööööön ...
I like how it says strenuous and then a downhill hike is suggested.
Heading to Yosemite this summer! hopefully the government is up and running by then.
