The timings for this video were measured using my local computer(s) that aren't the newest ones so your result might be different (by a couple of X). The goal of the video is to show you the orders of magnitude difference in performance between components (the newer the hardware the bigger the difference)
At some point, I'll make another one with the current 2020/2021 hardware to compare the differences.
    Thanks :)
Note: This is a Reupload of the original video.
Thumbs up to: @Hanabishi Recca and @Andrii Siriak for finding bugs in the first upload I've fixed them and added a note near the end of the video about the new hardware and 5-10x perf boost in Cache Performance.

Great video. The animations help understanding so much more than flat images. A must for all developers

    The fairly new SSD.M2 via PCI-Express 4 is about 7-8 GB/s actually.

What did we use before IDE and what was the data transfer speed?.

A suggestion for developers: seeing gigabit-ethernet and 10g network is very important for those of use who build Web apps and Web api

The animations starting with RAM became really slow. Too slow.
Btw. visualizing differences in 2 dimensions is still not so impressive. Making it in one dimension would trully show what orders of magnitude they differ.
Here is a video of Tom Scott showing a difference between one million and one billion th-cam.com/video/8YUWDrLazCg/w-d-xo.html

Thanks, Ill keep that in mind doing the next video about numbers :)

Doing a 1D number line and marking different hardware speeds could be awesome 👍 starting working on the visual component
