  • African Small Pot located on 6505 Woodland ave Phila, Pa brings the authentic taste of the motherland right into Philadelphia. We were greeted with hot tea and great hospitality. The atmosphere is cozy and filled with pics and pieces of the different cultures in Africa. We were served the Lamb with veggies and the cassava leaf dish. The cassava leaf was so delicious and flavorful. It could be eaten as the entre or a complimentary side. We Highly recommend this place for the food and authenticity.

Cassava is very healthy and the oil is a Red Palm oil indigenous to The Continent of Africa. On a winter month those hearty stews comes in handy. I love my cassava stew spicy.

I went there one night and everyone was so nice and welcoming. The men at one of the small tables in the front had a huge fish with rice. The portion was so huge, they were able to share. I couldn’t help but mention how good it look okey. They invited me over for some. My mind was thinking “Oh yes! Thank You!” but I politely declined. I’ve always said I’m going bk for the fish. After watching this video, I’ll be there Friday night.

Went there today and got exactly what you and Miz ordered. The cassava leaf was good and spicy. The lamb, with the sautéed peppers and onions was extremely good. The sauce, was phenomenal. I would ask for extra sauce next time. Gotta ask when I order, because the sauce is made with your order.. GREAT RECOMMENDATION!!

Hey JL thanks for putting our food out there. Cassava leaves is just the leaves from the yucca roots ( cassava) its very hearty mostly cooked in the western part of Africa main ingredients in cooking cassava leaves is peanut butter and the oil of yr choice this one is red oil (palm oil) not the processed red oil and other ingredients of yr choice like hot pepper, onions etc but it is usually served with white rice but the yellow rice looks delicious. You want international great food the whole of woodlawn ave will serve you right also try the jollof rice, acheeke, potatoe leaves, greens, peanut butter soup, pepper soup, okra soup, fufu etc
