  • Advice for New Cricut Crafters
    Hello everyone!
It's time for me to address a few things that new crafters should be made aware of. Although, it is going to sound harsh, trust me I am coming from a place of love and doing my best to share with you in a way that is helps you on your crafting journey.
Although the title says Advice for New Cricut Crafters, this really applies to crafters in any area: Cricut, Laser Engraving, Embroidery, DTF, DTG, Sublimation, etc. I often find it necessary to share advice like this and while some may not like it, there will be others who will connect with it immediately.
Hopefully it will help you on your journey.
If so, don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe to my channel.
    Thanks for watching,
    Bye

I am mentally applauding you. This is literally everything I’m constantly thinking when I see these things over and over. I am amazed how often people just buy stuff and haven’t done any research too. These things are big purchases and they just buy then start asking stuff they should’ve found out if they’d actually researched the product they were buying before parting with money

I believe you said what needed to be said. Also please read all the comments before asking the same thing that was already answered. Nobody should have to answer the same question over and over again. Thank you Delonda I appreciate all you do and the time and effort you put into these videos. Most all of the wonderful attitude you have.

Thanks for the nuggets! I’m guilty of #10. I have also went and purchased items I already had because of my discombobulated craft space. The SPELLING has me clutching my pearls often as an educator!!!
I love your transparency and realness but most importantly your heart for helping others. There’s not many people out there that will share their knowledge and experience without being paid. I appreciate you ❤

From a recently retired educator to another former teacher, this is exactly what we work on with students. It is so easy to ask for an answer, but learning how to FIND the answer for oneself is far more beneficial. Oh, as a lifelong crafter, I always have projects I don’t finish, but I generally go back to them later! I thoroughly enjoy your videos which demonstrate your fantastic teaching skills. A+ to you!

That’s why I don’t sell anything, I love being a student of the crafting world. I’m extremely tech savvy and I love all things electronic, however, it kills me when folks forget how printers work and don’t know what size paper it uses. But I love answering a lot of the questions too. So it’s bittersweet for me. But everything you said was straight facts!

During lockdown here in the UK I had to go into the “shielding” mode, see no one, go nowhere etc etc and I fell into the “must try ALL the crafts” rabbithole. Everything you said had me nodding my head. My absolute bugbear is seeing posts in FB groups like “I’ve just got an order for 50 t shirts, how do I do them?” I want to stamp my feet and say if you have to ask how to do a t shirt, why on earth are you taking orders? Just why? Now I’m off to finish some unfinished items, I’ll be good 🤣

Great advice! My favorite “Stop” is number 10. I go through phases of all sorts of crafts from making desserts for special occasions like a wedding cakes to resin to lasers to 3d printing to vinyl to screen printing all in the same week😮 When I plan and make a to do list, my projects turn out so much better and it keeps the gray out of my hair. Trello is a great online project tool. Not only does it help me stay on task it also (for me) stores past projects making it an “archive “ Thanks again for keeping it real. Happy crafting

I agree with you. I have a friend that is constantly asking me to make things or show her how to make things with my Cricut. When I tell her how much I charge she gets quiet. She is has a business and she wants to get paid for her services and so do I, I think she feels because we are friends she thinks I should do things for her for free. I don't feel that I should just give away the knowledge that I have researched and spent countless hours on trial and error to learn.

They focus on pushing product so much they cant really focus on one or two crafting skills. I appreciate you because when you show us who is sponsoring you or new things you are using, you still show you are a pro at all that you do. Thanks for that!!!

Everything is a “phase”. 3 years ago everyone was jumping on the resin glitter tumblers. Then it went to cricut infusion now it’s sublimation. It will pass. People think it’s a quick. Buck to make stuff do it. Few times then get order for the whole football team and have no clue what they are into, how to price it including g their time. Not to mention the biggest question I see is licensing issues . You’re right about selling stuff when they have made 1 thing.

🤣🤣🤣 I'm not saying don't ask questions. I'm saying don't go make a big purchase and then start asking questions. With sublimation, there are so many things to consider. Ink, paper, supplies, software, hardware and sometimes people jump in because they are trying to keep up with others. It can get very frustrating very quickly.

Love this and I have had people in the past ask me what kind of machinery I used when making my acrylic designs. I don’t make them anymore for jewelry but all the same. Thanks Delonda 😊

Miss Delonda, ooh girl, I felt this video in my spirit from the thumbnail and the first 4 seconds of the look on your face. 😅😅 Someone has to say it, and you said it with Grace. Seriousness. And Grace ❤ And yes! The research! I love ADDING to my research, but I’ve already done the majority of the footwork first! 😅

My husband and I are still in the research phase of what to buy and weather to start with vinyl cutting or sublimation and we realize both are a big learning curve so we certainly appreciate all the hard work you and other content creators put into the videos to show how stuff is done. Most of what you said is common courtesy, so any that walk away we will pray for and say it is probably for the best. No one should be asking for free SVG files when there are subscriptions to places like creative fabrica and design bundles where you can get tons of content for 1 subscription fee. We love your personality and will be looking forward to future videos. God Bless You we love you.

      Much love to you too.
Have you tried Infusible Ink? I suggest starting there because it will help you get the feel of sublimation.
