Wonderful video Alex. I always love hearing more about Kanile’a instruments. Not only do they sound good but they’ll also plant a koa tree for every uke they sell :)
The moment you introduced the first note on the platinum I smiled and closed my eyes. That ukulele is aural poetry. I have never heard the like of it. Thank you.
I love my Kanile'a Platinum and the longer I've had it, the more I've realized how important all the small changes are that help this ukulele make the player as comfortable as possible. The thinned section under my right arm gives my right hand the best playing position and I believe that this ukulele has to be close to the perfect shape for a woman to play. Even with the pick-up installed, the instrument is truly light weight and the tone of this model is delightful and lends itself to playing 'whatever you like'. It has done an amazing job of making all my other instruments - even well loved older ones from Kanile'a - feel a little 'clunky'.
Kanile’a, so beautiful, each one you showcased just shows how stunning and playable they are and why they are the pinnacle. May be one day, when I am good enough. Thanks Alex
The Kanilea ukes are extraordinary and despite the expectation of not seeing the difference between k3 and andrine I liked the latter . But its like being in a Rolls Royce showroom and not knowing which car to pick . I would wish to have all the options . I would need 50 or more years of uke playing left to justify having such an instrument . So that takes me nicely to 160 th birthday . I simply am not worthy . But I love watching you play them .
I have been to the mountain top! What an impressive line of superb instruments... And the interview with Joe Souza on the Platinum Master Grade site was very instructive... Will you be getting the KPA-T in again? Well worth saving up for, any one of them.... Thanks for posting this!
as a piano tuner, I totally felt it when you said, "this ukulele is a piano.." the platinum is just.... velvet hot chocolate sound like soft rabbit snuggling up to my ears! definitely my fave. and also SO gorgeous. And there was another one, I think the Aldrine, where you showed the balance of the instrument and that is really cool. By the way, the platinum has a low G right? is that a nylon low G? I have a wound low G on my uke at the moment but i'm not enamoured of it tbh... wondering what the low G options are out there. your videos are awesome! thanks for all the great info and music! looking forward to tomorrow's :D
It's a Fremont Soloist flat wound Low G on the Platinum. Wound Low Gs work better with certain tonewoods than others. It could well be your uke doesn't carry the depth of a wound string in a pleasing way. I hear that a lot.
I’m not sure the slotted headstock on the 2021 platinum is a cobra…I think it’s a crown slotted headstock. Great video and feature on Kanile’a ukulele. One model left out is the KCS series. They are beautiful and have the Kailua beach sand inlays, with a slotted crown headstock…super thin like the KTS, with gotoh stealth tuners as well.
Hope you and yours are well . Do they offer any of these in baritone ? Do they offer a big baritone , 23" scale and bigger body . Like tenor guitar ,4 string
They do a 20' Baritone for all of the K models and the KPA model. The Baritone version of a KSR-T would have a different headstock and be called a KSC-B. The aldrine and platinum are Tenor only. They don't offer anything bigger than a Baritone. Try Ko'olau or Romero Creations for that kind of thing. 👍
I'm quite a heavy handed player... the uv gloss is easily the most resistant finish and it has a nice nature snare sound when you tap it rather than the thwack of most satin finishes
Hi Alex. I believe that’s a Bird’s Eye Maple rosette, not Curly Maple on the Aldrine model. My favourite ukulele model from Kanile’a. The Gilbert Tuners are just awesome.
They’re all fantastic. I’d be proud to own any of them. The only thing I’d change is the nut width to 35 because I have small hands.
Recently I wasn't playing my uke a lot because of my busy schedule but watching some of your videos reignited that passion, so thanks for that

Will never fall out of love with Kanile'as ❤ thanks for the video Alex 😁🎵🎶 x
Aesthetically these are just in a league of their own. That K3 is stunning.

Oh, the sound of that K3, beautiful.
Even though I'm a player and a fan of the uke, I don't think anyone can argue that these are simply beautiful. A true work of art indeed
Lovely ukes, one day when I grow up I will own a kanile’a .
Kanile’a, so beautiful, each one you showcased just shows how stunning and playable they are and why they are the pinnacle. May be one day, when I am good enough. Thanks Alex
Their ukes are stunning, and I someday hope to own one- budget allowing Lol. Great illustration of the work that they do!
They really are just beautiful [ Thanks Alex ]
You have such an awesome job, Alex! Favorite has to be that Platinum… Daaaayum that’s heavenly. 😍
These are stunning. I have a K3 concert which I love, but I covet a 2021 platinum. Selah!
I can vouch for the K-3T being beautiful and sounds as good if not better than the KPA-T that I purchased yesterday just so good.
Love this.
I am in love thanks
Thanks... I'm flattered. The ukes are nice too! 😆
No wonder KPA-T sold out - it's stunning! Thanks for tge overview.
That kpat oh my!❤️

Great job. If you were in Australia I’d be all over that K3. I had one some years back and stupidly I sold it. Regretted it ever since.

Yeah. The KPA-T always seems to sell in days. Il order another one tomorrow and it will probably arrive in March
exquisite sound

It's a crown one. I just said cobra by mistake

The K2 is beautiful even my wife said buy it haha I play a lot of percussive ukulele so it would likely be a crime to beat it while playing.

@@SouthernUkuleleStore please don’t tell me anymore otherwise I’ll have to spend my kids Xmas money haha

It's interesting to hear Aldrine's name pronounced in a British way
🥸
[ wow ] I think I have just found Heaven
When you get into the "thousands" for some of the ukuleles, in my opinion, you aren't getting all that much more sound. It's just not "in" there.
