If anyone is interested in the game...Just letting you know, Kong has a move set, not just mashing X....he can grab, grab trees, and do other moves....They're just spamming the x button a shit ton.
He also has a charge attack.

One thing that I liked to do in this game, was to grab a T-rex and throw it in to a wall.

How so?
Completing the game is fairly simple and all the achievements are just for clearing chapters, so it's really easy to obtain the full 1000 Gamerscore. Avater The Burning Earth and TMNT share this as well
Got this game for Christmas because I loved the movie, had a great experience with this game.
Too bad we didn't got to see most of the human levels, remember them to be pretty scary

Surprisingly those levels were way better than the Kong levels. I loved walking around a jungle by yourself and shooting various creatures with an array of guns. It combined horror, strategy, action, and adventure all in one. Being able to actually control the camera was a plus.
Ya I loved the human levels, I wish they spent more time with those too. The Kong parts aren't bad, but I had more fun playing as jack Driscoll.

that's retro gamers for you, they're used to one dimensional gameplay, as i play more than just retro games, i am used to there being a lot of buttons and actions to take.
The problem here is not 3 dimensional gameplay, it's button mashing. In any good designed game, retro or not, you don't get far with button mashing.
Also, his "as fast as he can" button mashing is incredibly slow.

I remember this being 50% fighting big centipedes, 40% getting chased by dinosaurs, and 10% playing as Kong.
I miss games like these. I can't remember the last game to come out that let me play as king kong. These simple games were awesome and I wish they would make more.
I am really happy they brought up Beast Wars, where else could you see King Kong vs T-Rex and Optimus Prime vs Megatron at the same time? Definitely one of my favorite cartoons when I was a kid.

My experience with King Kong for the PS2: I Lost my memory card so I had to beat the game in one sitting. Spent all Saturday playing it. got to the last level and the game froze.
Happened to me while playing Spiderman on the playstation 1. I didn't even know that memory cards existed back then, so I always tried to beat my games in one sitting lol.
I used to never own a memory card on the ps1 or ps2 cuz my dumbass didn't know they existed. So every game I played I tried to finish in one sitting. Never finished a single game until I got a damn memory card.

You know what's funny? This game actually got me into the FPS genre of games, believe it or not. I was able to get into a Call of Duty game on the PS3 like I've been playing the original games on the PS2 all this time.
Oh yeah, this game does have an unlockable alternate ending where Kong is saved, but I forget how to do it. It's been too long.

This game was my shit back then! I still remembered when I screamed like a girl when the T-rex suddenly appeared and ate me. Oh boy, good times!
I beat this game and I remembered loving it. The best parts were when your where in this temple area with nothing but a stick and you're fighting off these big ass spider things and the music kicks in and there are too many of them. Hella dope.
This game has an alternate ending where you can control a plane and shoot down the others and save Kong. That was my favorite part. Would also have liked to see you guys play a Jack level where the T-Rex is chasing you, those were some heart pounding levels.

This is legit one of the best movie games I've ever played. It's awesome. Especially the FPS parts.
This game was pretty awesome as a kid, but I liked playing as the human way more than Kong. The camera angles for the Kong levels were awful and it got super repitive and meandering very quickly; just climb up here, fight this, climb up here, fight this, over and over again. The human levels were much more fun. I liked being able to actually control the camera, plus they were fucking scary at times, especially the ones where you're just by yourself in the jungle and you'd hear a monster roar and your body would tense up in fear, like "oh shit, what's that noise?" It was very cinematic and creepy. I hope you guys played through the stampede level and the one where you sneak into Kong's lair because those levels were about as engaging and adventurous as they possibly get in games.
Bought this one for my nephew recently for 360 since he loved the movie and game when he was young. It wasn't too bad watching him play it, though he knows it by heart that's why.

Kong Skull Island scared the bejeezus out of me. The guy carried off by the pterodactyls is one of the sorriest I've ever felt for a fictional character.

The World of Kong: A Natural History of Skull Island explains the ruins. Skull Island was once a much larger landmass but in the last 1000 years massive earthquakes have crumbled much of it into the sea. To put into perspective how much the island has shrunk, the dinosaurs are living in what used to be the inside of the wall. The wall was once a circular enclosure designed to separate the Skull Island civilization from all the monsters. But because the island has shrunk to the size of the civilization, the dinosaurs now live among the ruins, while the remaining natives live on what used to be the outside of the wall.
Ah, the silver age of movie tie-ins. King Kong, The Two Towers, Spiderman 2, The Thing, From Russia With Love.. good times, good times
I realise other people have probably commented on this already, but, there's actually a secret ending on this game where Kong _does_ win! I forget what you had to do in order to unlock it, but, if you can survive long enough at the end, the main character, Jack, shows up in a plane & helps Kong out; in this ending, he then returns to Skull Island &, presumably, lives happily ever after.. Or something.

There's an alternate ending where Jack comes in with a bi-plane and you take down the spotlights to save Kong. The game ends with Kong back on the island as Jack and Ann take one last look at him from the bi-plane.

This game has an alternate ending. Kong lives depending on how good you are at flying a rogue plane and shooting down the other planes.
Love your content guys but you should really step up your game on the technical aspect of things. The wrong aspect ratio for the game and composite video in 2017 are really getting old.
You can actually save Kong. You just have to destroy every plane in sight when you're on top of the building. :D

I know there are no doubt a million other people saying this already, but there is a happy ending for the game. If you survive long enough as Kong on the top of the Empire State Building, you get to play as Jack again as he hijacks a plane and shoots the other planes down.
Glad to know I'm not the only person excited for Kong Skull Island!!! I saw King Kong when I was probably 5 years old and it's been constant inspiration, Even the 2005 one was fine to me.

Correct. Of all the versions of King Kong that came out on consoles, this is the worst version. It has the worst frame rate, lowest resolution texture maps, doesn't have bump maping, No AA, the worst lighting effects for lack there of. What more do you want? It's the worst version.

Guilleackass I don't know about that...I'd have to see the specs to agree. What I do know is that games are much more easily made for Xbox than PlayStation consoles due to factors like the language the consoles use.
There's a secret ending where Jack gets in a biplane and you save Kong and take him back to the island. Also you can throw cars at the spotlight guys by pressing grab.

There is a secret ending where you play as Jack in a plane shooting down the planes attacking Kong, I believe you need to survive long enough to get it though, it's really hard and I've never been able to do it.
If you earn enough points, you can unlock an alternate ending where jack and englehorn shoot down the planes and save kong

Beast Wars reference right there, dunno if it was Peter Cullen who voiced Optimus Primal, but if he did, it really comes full circle for him at one point.
Sorry to dissapoint, but Primal was voiced by Garry Chalk. Cullen made his return to voicing Optimus with the 07 Movie.
There's an alternate ending or so where you can save Kong. I remember getting it through cheat codes.

Kong can actually survive in this game. Just got to dogde and destroy enough planes and then youll play as Jack on a plane shooting the othwr planes and then taking out the spotlights

It's been forever since I played this, but I don't remember seeing an ammo counter when playing as Jack. I remember there was a button you could press and Jack say how much he had out loud. Dunno, I just don't remember that being there. Good game, tho, imo, lol.

Shame he didn't try out more of the Jack sections. At least one of the T-Rex chases. I'd say those have aged much better. I'd even go so far as to say they were innovative.

I think there is an ending where you win at the end but you have to get all the secrets before. Might be interesting to try and see.

I had this for the Xbox and I really liked it. Yes, terrible camera, but playing as a giant ape and fighting dinosaurs? Count me in. There needs to be more movies and video games with dinosaurs.
