Tigers need to make that trade Akin to when the Tigers traded for Carlos Guillen bsck in the day Thats what this team needs And then an Ordonez caliber Free agent this winter
"On Why Javy Baez Is Still A Tiger And When They Will Actually Spend". They spent on Javy Baez. A better question is when they will actually spend WELL.
I disagree with you about trading Skubal. If we do?... Don't stock the minors. Trade for Acuna or Betts, etc. i don't think Chris Illitch knows how to wheel and deal with the big boys. Harris? Not sure yet. I like the young players we have, but... what happens with these guys? Yes, Harris' notion about major league development makes some sense, or to we have a problem with player development guys, and offensive coaching? Tork? The 31 homer guy? Come on. Make it work! Javy doesn't care??? Of course he cares. Stop saying that about him. It's something else. We could use a guy who DHes a little more. Too bad Malloy isnt prepared to play 1st or Short. Bring him up. He's a good hitter. Fly in the ointment somewhere. I hate to see guys (coaches) lose their jobs, but figure this out.
Scott Harris was a terrible hire for the Tigers. The Al Avila administration also wasted two first round draft picks on Casey Mize and Spencer Torkelson.
Winter? It's not even June and we're talkin' 'bout winter? You have the top pick of the draft in the majors, a slugger, and you can't find a way to break through with him to be a slugger? The book can be hard on hitters, but great teams find a way to help players counter-punch.
How do you send Tork to toledo But keep Bias still there. Keep Javier Baez there. I don't get it. If somebody could please talk about it and make sense of it, I would appreciate it by, as can't run.The bases can't hit personally his attitude sucks.
You don’t spend money just to spend money, you need the right players at the right price and they have to want to join your team. This is a rebuilding team so it’s not a destination. That means they have to overpay and for who, exactly? That’s just not smart. It’s good to be competitive, but spending money on just anyone doesn’t necessarily do that.
Never let a team say they are rebuilding more than 4 straight years. Scherzer & Porcello gone in 2014. David Price in 2015. Verlander & JD Martinez in 2017. And they couldn't wait till Miggy was off the books. We know what they are; a mid market team without a winning record since 2016 including 114 losses in 2019... that was five years ago. So 'Rebuilding' and 'Tigers' don't belong in the same sentence. They are where they want to be with the payroll they want to have.
@@jetsamperes5762 they started a rebuild and then changed GMs because the rebuild went poorly. Again, this doesn’t mean you just throw money at guys who aren’t worth it.
@@Cujobob who is advocating for “throwing money at guys who aren’t worth it”?! His job is to improve the team. Is it difficult? Sure - that’s why he gets paid a lot of money and has a large staff to get the job done. Free agents don’t want to come? Convince them. Teams don’t want to trade? Again, it’s his job to make the deal work. If it was easy & fun - just signing stud FAs who were begging to come to Detroit, they wouldn’t pay people to do it. This is a big boy job, and Harris is failing.
@@Cujobob how what works? and howTF do you know how it works lol? If you’ve ever had a job above middle manager, you know the only thing that doesn’t work is excuses. This is a one of 30 job in the world….excuses are for Dairy Queen managers. As far as spending money, there is no greater predictor of success (playoff berths, playoff series wins, pennants, and championships) than having a top 10 payroll. You can live in a fantasy land of endless rebuilding and low payroll yielding a bad news Bears team that wins at all - but that is rare. If they won’t spend, they aren’t likely to ever win a division title again.
The problem is they spent money on bias and it's worthless. You need to put it in your contract to cut bait with people to don't produce like any business production is important. I thought these are business people, not idiots.
Funny thing is, Harris doesn't owe the media anything! Remember the line from Money Ball, "It's a problem you think you have to explain anything!" This is year 2 after inheriting the mess he did from Avila. Harris needs to gut this organization and start over. And that's what he's doing. He wants to build this team via the draft and not overspend on players that end up like Baez. He's stuck with that horrible contract. We also don't have a core of young players that are consistent enough daily to bank on before we spend $$$ on free agents.
It’s not for the media, Einstein - it’s for the fans. You know, the CUSTOMERS who actually buy the tickets, merch, etc. that pay the bills. And he is absolutely NOT gutting the org - every decent young player in the org was acquired Avila….Harris has done next to nothing. Wake up.
Isaac Paredes 10 home runs, 32 RBI, .292 BA, 253 OPS+, .446 SLG, .383 OBP, .878 OPS
The fact that Harris got ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for E Rod is everything you need to know about his capabilities as a President of Baseball Operations.
That was definitely a rookie mistake
Picking Max Clark was Scott Harris saying we'll think about making the playoffs around 2027.

This aged well

Until Chris Illitch sells the team, the Tigers are a waste of time to invest any time in.
Sell the team to Sheila Ford!
Well said Jeff
Scott Harris is both defeatist and smug at the same time. The smartest man in the room syndrome is strong with this one.
Any one else feel like the Royals stole the Tigers thunder this year ?
I have no doubt Harris will mess up maximizing Skubal as an asset
Expect a E-Rod trade level of shitty in Skubals future as a Tiger
People have to stop focusing on how Bad Baez is doing and how the Tigers are still performing without him.
Agreed, it is easy to find someone to blame 😂
