    Im watching this AS i'm embroidering a few towels for a customer XD So I use water solvable front backing, and I dont use the tearaway, because that ussually makes a very ugly impression. Maybe i'm using the wrong kind.

    Why do you prefer knockdown stitch to water-soluble topping? Isn't it more time-consuming than just placing a topping? Are there big differences between the 2 methods in terms of the final result?

    • @RomeroThreads
      @RomeroThreads  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I think it looks cleaner and the stitches remain nice and tight. I don't like the clean up afterwards w/ wss. Its all preference.

    For pricing, do you charge for the knock down stitches count in addition to the font stitch count? (Is you charge by the stitch)

    • @RomeroThreads
      @RomeroThreads  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would charge base off time. If its something thats under 1,000 stitches it’s not a big deal. I usually have set prices for beanies and towels which already has the knockdown stitch factored in.

    Since your into details, instead of wasting underlay stitches you should have used a water soluble top layer, we use solvy. You will get a better satin top layer also without all that bulk under it and underlay never knocks down the pile enough. Your reverse side will look way way better also, as currently the reverse side looks unsightly. Hope that helps.

    • @RomeroThreads
      @RomeroThreads  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, water soluble topping is an option, its very convenient and easy to use. I do not like to use the topping. I don't like the clean up, and the overall quality and durability of a knockdown stitch outweighs other options (my opinion of course). It all depends on your preference, if a water soluble works for you, then stick to whatever works for you.

  • @bayareaquilting332
    @bayareaquilting332 ปีที่แล้ว

    I see you don't need a topping when doing the knock down stitch.

    • @RomeroThreads
      @RomeroThreads  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I don't like using topping, the knockdown stitch holds the nap longer and more secure. I really dislike the cleaning portion of the topping.

  • @gailjohnson3544

    • @RomeroThreads
      @RomeroThreads  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t like using a topper. Water soluble topping is useful if you are not using a knockdown stitch. I prefer using a knockdown stitch, I feel it holds down the stitches longer after multiple washes. Some people use both methods, its all preference.
