    I am 25 years old and have recently found out that I have a 10cmx8cm fibroid behind my uterus so this was very interesting to watch, thankyou. I have had no periods for the past 2 years and no symptoms, other than severe bloating. I look pregnant most of the time and just put it down to weight gain until now!

    Where have you been all my life. 🥺😭😭😭 everything you just said I have lived with since my I started my period. I am 32 going on 33 and I was diagnosed with hyperplasia not sure what type. But I haven't been told I have fibroids. For years I have suffered from PICA. Before my iron levels got better a year later from my treatment I used to eat ice and baking soda. A few months ago I had to get a blood transfusion because I was discovered with severe anemia. I started loosing my hair and I always feel fatigued, ive had even suicidal thoughts, and depression in the past. You have answered so many questions for me and now I have new questions for my Dr in my next appointment. Thank God I found your video. Thank you for all you do. ❤

    Just had an OBGYN appointment today, the Dr said my only option for my large fibroid was a Hysterectomy.. Omgeee now I’m not so sure! I will check out UFE .. Thank you!

    • @Atlii
      @Atlii  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Almost every single patient that has been told that hysterectomy is their only option is a candidate for UFE. Losing your uterus has consequences and sometimes the "cure" is worse than the disease. UFE is safer, much less invasive, much less recovery, and you get to keep your uterus! Learn more about this at ATLii.com. #DontLoseUrU Good luck.

    I have 2 fibroids, 10x15 cm, been waiting two years so far for surgery, at first I didn't even know they were there, but now too much lifting and I am in extreme pain. The only thing the docs here are willing to do is push pain meds. Instead of putting pressure on the surgeon to get this done.

    • @Atlii

      You may be able to avoid surgery altogether. I would consider getting a 2nd opinion consultation from an experienced Interventional Radiologist. These are the type of physician that performs UFE. Good luck.

    Wish I know about this before I had two surgery for fibroids and still have the same problem

    • @Atlii
      @Atlii  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@shermalewis4427 Unfortunately, that is a very common scenario. Myomectomy is a local treatment option for a global problem in most fibroid patients. They cant get all of the fibroids out surgically and so the woman wakes up from surgery with living fibroids still in her uterus (recurrence rate 11% per year !). Because UFE is so good and treats all of the fibroids, there is never a reason for anyone to ever undergo more than one myomectomy. Also, a woman’s fertility diminishes significantly with each myomectomy. Learn more at ATLii.com

    I really need help understanding my case. Everyone who had a UFE got better and they bleeding reduced.
    I had a UFE in 2016 and the only good thing for me is the pain that disappeared, however I'm bleeding all the time, and randomly. I can bleed for 2 weeks, stop for a few days, then bleed again for 3 weeks. Sometimes I bleed for more than a month. Red, pink, brown.... I'm desperate, I can't even enjoy myself. Dr Lipman I am a 51 year old woman with fibroids that measure 19cm, 5.9cm, 5.8cm, and 4.8cm I didn’t totally want surgery yet so my doctor prescribed Loestrin birth control pills I don’t feel like this is going to work I don’t like the bleeding for days I don’t like the big belly and plus my uterus is about 18 weeks in size of a pregnant woman. I’m stressed about it..I know you probably don’t want to give advice over the Internet but As afraid as I am of getting surgery I’m almost considering a hysterectomy. What should I do I was on the Internet researching fibroid treatment and causes and came across your channel
    My doctor did suggest UFE I’m afraid to get that as well (of pain) just wish I could be put to sleep

    • @Atlii
      @Atlii  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      UFE is certainly safer, less invasive, and has a much shorter recovery than hysterectomy. Patients with a uterus above the belly button often have to be cut from breast bone down vertically to the pubic hair line for hysterectomy. For that same uterus, the patient gets a nick in the skin covered by a regular bandaid. Learn more at ATLii.com. Good luck.

    Thank you so much for this video. I’m going through this now. I do have large fibroid that’s 7 cm and 4 and 2 MRI showed it’s not cancerous but gynecologist is pushing me into doing a biopsy. I have no bleeding. No major pain some discomfort from time to time and this gynecologist is saying biopsy and maybe taking out the uterus. Intuitively I don’t believe I need biopsy. I need a solution to the large fibroid either with hormone replacement therapy or something.

I went for my women's wellness a week ago and she ordered an ultrasound to see exactly what's going on because I told her I had fibroids before I was examined and she only mentioned myomectomy and said well you had your tubes tied (over 20 yrs ago) so obviously your not having anymore kids. First of all don't tell me what I'm not gonna do, secondly I'm a new patient how can you discuss any procedure without an ultrasound until you know what's goin on. I've already educated myself on this so if any only procedure I'm doin is UFE. Or I can go elsewhere!

      it is a very intrusive emotional procedure because you’re taking your womanhood out and I think these people are just completely bat shit crazy and I think they need to be arrested. I have completely lost my faith in doctors I never saw them in this light before. during the time I was freaking out about my fibroids I realized it’s all about money and how much they could make off of me by having me do different procedures etc. and they didn’t like me questioning them they just wanted me to get it done. You are lucky to have the myomectomy, most doctors don't even want to perform the myomectomy anymore. The prefer doing the hysterectomy and put women onto it. It just looks like the options are hysterectomy or embolization and embolization does not usually work.

    • @Atlii
      @Atlii  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      90% of embolization patients get significant or complete relief. Acessa is surgical and doesnt treat all of the fibroids and most insurance companies dont pay for it because there is very little long term data on it and is therefore considered investigational/experimental.

For about three months I’ve had the bloat and only noticed bc my jeans wouldn’t zip up. I walk daily, eat mostly healthy and haven’t had anemia. Fibroids run on my moms side of the family. I have had an abdominal ultrasound and that’s when they found that. Going to an ob/gyn referral soon.

    Do you now do it through the radial artery? I was a patient of yours some years back. I believe around 2015 or 2016. We attempted the procedure but it couldn't be completed because you said my vessels were very torturous. At that time you went through the femoral route. I have seen now that some docs are doing it radially. Would it be a different outcome going that way instead. I had a myomectomy in 2017 and I think they have grown back.

    Pre UFE i had extremely painful period cramping but my periods were light or I would skip periods. Post UFE my menstrual cramps went away but I’m on my 3 cycle
    and my periods are heavier than what I was used to. Is this normal? I had multiple fibroids with the largest being the size of a grapefruit. All of my other fibroid symptoms have essentially gone away since surgery. I hear most saying there’s got lighter I just don’t know if this should be a concern. I have another follow up in a month. My period is heavier than it’s ever been.

    • @Atlii

      While the first period after UFE may not be better, the 2nd should be, and the 3rd even better. It's important to have your Int Rad see you. An MRI with and without IV contrast is real important to see if all of the fibroids are dead.

    What's the difference in a D & C and UFE are the Same

    • @Atlii
      @Atlii  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Two totally different procedures. UFE is a nonsurgical procedure that treats fibroids no matter where they are in the uterus.. D&C is a procedure where the cervix is dilated and an instrument is placed inside the uterine cavity to scrape the uterine lining. This can diagnose/treat abnormal lining tissue. Both conditions can treat abnormal uterine bleeding with fibroids being the most common cause.

    Hello Doctor Lipman- I have fibroids just started having a lot of pain. Had my period 3 times in March had to have a blood transfusion also an iron infusion my levels were 6.4. My Gynecologist suggest I get a Lupron shot or a Uterine Leiomyoma. Is this the same procedure? Please advise.

    • @Atlii
      @Atlii  ปีที่แล้ว

      A leiomyoma is another name for a fibroid. Lupron is a medication which is injected monthly for up to 6 months to put the patient temporarily in menopause (i.e. to stop the bleeding). This buys the Gynecologic surgeon time to build up the patient’s hemoglobin/iron to allow them to safely operate on the patient.
      Alternatively, instead of Lupron, you could get a 2nd opinion from an Interventional Radiologist to see if you’re a candidate for Uterine Fibroid Embolization(UFE). This is a nonsurgical, outpatient procedure that allows women to get the relief of symptoms, avoid the risks and long recovery of surgery, and keeptheir uterus! Learn more at ATLii.com. Good luck.

    Hi Dr. What is the difference between fibroid degeneration and shrinking. Because i read that with degrneration it feels like a stabbing pain.

    • @Atlii
      @Atlii  ปีที่แล้ว

      Fibroids change in size largely due to differences in estrogen. When a woman becomes pregnant her fibroids will increase and after delivery will shrink (not back to original size). When a woman goes in to menopause they’ll shrink; same post UFE. All of these occur without pain. Degeneration is the result of sudden loss of blood supply to a fibroid or fibroids whether spontaneously or after treatmebt by a procedure like UFE. This can be quite painful but usually is short in duration with prompt attention. Learn more at ATLii.com

    Doctor please I'll like to know if the vision loss I am experiencing is as a result of fibriod , my symptoms got worse with heavy bleeding and lengthy flow from 6 days to 8 days and then I noticed my vision is poor...I visited my optician and she's saying it's Glacoma...I don't believe her, I think my hormones and fibroid is responsible for this.

    My GYN told me UFE causes infertility, and suggest myomectomy. Even a simple Google search also says that. I'm not sure what to do. I have been watching the fibroids grow for 6 years now, they're getting to big to ignore.

      Your GYN is wrong. There are some women who dont menstruate after UFE. That doesnt occur for women under 40 yrs of age. For 40-45yrs its 1-2%. There is usually a higher chance that a myomectomy patient wakes up from her surgery with a hysterectomy than a UFE patient over 40 doesnt menstruate after. I would recommend getting a 2nd opinion from an experienced Interventional Radiologist before deciding on surgery. To learn more about this, please go to ATLii.com. Good luck.

    • @Atlii
      @Atlii  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      UFE stands for Uterine Fibroid Embolization. It is an outpatient, nonsurgical procedure that will very effectively eliminate the symptoms caused by uterine fibroids. Learn more at ATLii.com
