I love this SCP-001 proposal because I love the idea that an organization typified by the bureaucratic and almost mundane way in which it handles the supernatural came into being because of an anomalous piece of bureaucratic paperwork.
"Refuses to repeat the mistakes of the past. Mistakes that has lead to the creation of over 1,000 SCPs." 4,000 more SCPs are discovered D-Class: Sorry I dropped it 😰
Isn’t there actually an scp for that I forgot the number tho but basically your the person who’s reading all the foundation files and are considered an scp
This is Schroedinger's cat in a way. You don't know whether the SCP already exists or not until you open the papers, whereafter it starts existing, either having been there a long time or just having been created.
*"it is the opinion of the current administration that scp 001 represents the greatest threat to national and global security known to exist."* *the scarlet king: sad crying noises*
I think the person who first discovered 001 wasn’t a part of the foundation and just kept reading it out of interest while the foundation took care of the anomaly’s until he had read it so many times and finally the SCP Foundation found the source
@⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ Exactly. I would have been fine if the actual file ended with either, a rogue group getting hold of that SCP (either aware of it's powers or not) or just after an accident, let the papers blow away in the wind, causing it to be flipped like over million times and some papers not being recovered. But it's stated that the Sheaf of Papers is in containment so, yeah. Big Plot holes.
well, with the nature of scp-001s( and there are multiple) they usually kinda exist as an origin of the other SCPs or the organization itself. I kinda like this one cause it kinda asks is this the dangerous originator of the SCPs or is this a SCP itself that warns of other SCPs and how to contain them? Its an interesting idea at least. Like if you have a book and the book warns you of the future, is the book the cause of the events cause the events only seem to happen when you open the book, or is the book predicting the future?
Yeah this one doesn't fit too well knowing that the canon keeps expanding with more and more scp. Unless it really is just a warning device and not the creator of the scps.
It said the administration still continues to consult the papers, so that explains the thousands more since found. An argument can be made that the papers themselves want to be read and made manifest hence the insane reaction to continue studying them even after Apollyon classes have been revealed which threaten humanity and reality. It could even be theorized that the papers are unknowingly guiding the administration to illogically continue allowing its existence for future administrations.
This story was written originally at a time when they had paused creation of new entries, and considering the state of some of the most recent entries I really wish that they would take it away from whatever monkey they have reading it now. Now considering that these dangerous entities do exist worldwide the actual effect previously has simply been to effectively segregate and the foundation from finding things unnecessarily rather than a theoretically not existing but occasionally I do wish it the person reading it would take note of any important or dangerous comments on the entity that they are going to retrieve.
Well if you could perceive that the foundation disbanded due to too many SCPs and protocol. The canon makes perfect sense because 05 would do everything possible to prevent the best foundation readers from gaining insights from the information text.
I really don't know how I feel about this proposal, for the reason of, you're telling me that (even in the early number of SCPs) they didn't stop opening the document after getting the idea that it might be causing the item(s)/entities to come into existence?
to quote terry pratchet, "if you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry"
Going through all 001 published so far.. I noticed something I hadn't before. I'm pretty sure the building shown at 1:30 is submarine bunker Valentine in Northern Germany
So is it dangerous and important? Lol. The writer really came out the gate screaming: “this is the most deadly and significant SCP ever!! Did I mention it’s important and dangerous? I mentioned the O5 council didn’t I? And I made a big deal about it’s classification right?”
thats kinda the point of SCP 001 it should be sth that either is ultimately strong or responsible for all the anomalies as the first anomaly it has to be reason for SCP to begin collecting anomalies etc
The Sprial Path was a good one, the idea that the SCPs and GOI was created by the Foundation and their mission is a lie is really neat twist. I'd like to think it's a file from parallel universe that made it into the "Canon" universe
Hey SCP! You need a better labeling system. You have multiple things having the same number and some things have multiple numbers. The Spiral Path is also SCP-001. Well, unless some of your "0" are actually "O".
thats the point, there isnt a 'true' scp 001 except the record (because it makes itslef the first of any list) because most scp 001s are to do with the origin of the SCPs and there is no official agreed origin and that is good and proper personally the spiral path is the weakest 001
Yeah, per the box analogy it would be safe. They usually don't edit classic SCPs though, and this one is pretty old (2008). Back then they'd slap keter on almost anything that could theoretically end the world regardless of how easy it was to contain.
I don't understand this one. Keter? How? The classes as far as I know are meant to denote their ease of containment. Never to denote how dangerous they are. The papers, as far as I can tell, are one of the easiest things to contain. So at worst Euclid. I'd go so far as to say safe. Even if you want to take a ton of extra precautions because of the human element, that doesn't make the item itself nore or less likely to breach containment. So I am confused.
Agreed, pretty mundane precautions like the ones described pretty much falls to "safe" category anyways. It's not like it needs to be suspended by magnets, or housed in special alloy bunker in bottom of sea with dedicated kill zones. Guess it's the explosive fail safe that makes it keter..?
This is an old article from 16 years ago. Back then, Keter does basically mean "extremely dangerous". It wasn't until much later (2016) that the object class become what they are today. A lot of articles are kept unchanged, with very few having been rewritten. Obviously, you can't just rewrite an article without permission.
@@kzkaa. Talk about a wild explanation 3 years later. This isn't criticism mind you. I actually appreciate the information as even now I only have a passing interest in SCP. I'm just surprised you saw my comment in spite of it being 3 years old.

Basically, there's several/no decoys in the 001 slot, so any of them can either be fake or real. There's like 50 SCP-001 last time I checked, so maybe only one of them is real, or maybe all of them are real.
