Great review! I’ve been riding for 51 years and have had 11 different motorcycles over the years. I have a 2021 CB500X and it ranks in the top two of the 11 motorcycles that I have had. Great motorcycle! 👍🏻
Thanks Walt, sounds like you are really enjoying your 500X too. Awesome stuff. Which is the other bike of your top two, just out of interest? Regards from Cape Town. Mike 🇿🇦
There's no such thing as the perfect bike as we all need / want different things, and everything else is a balancing act of compromises. But after a year on the 500X, I struggle to imagine a better combination of compromise. More power would mean more weight and less agility. More tech would mean more to go wrong and a much higher price. For me keeping the weight down was important as I'm a small guy. I don't want to be lugging around a massive GS or Africa Twin. I also don't want something so tall I'm on my tiptoes even though I'm 5'10". It's like you said, the 500X ticks so many boxes and does so much competently. You'd think with it being so practical and typically Honda that it would be boring, yet I love every second on it. It's so flickable that I have a riot on it every time I go out.
Sounds like we are on the same page 😁. It really is a great bike. A true Swiss army knife of a ride. Enjoy your 500x and hope you get many more happy miles 🙂💪
My third season on the CB500X. I agree with everything you say here (- am the same height/build). Upgraded tyres, engine and hand protection make an enormous difference! 🙂I also added extra lights ;-). Many criticize the suspension but I have had no problems riding gravel tracks, washed out, wet and dry, rocky, loose, steep, even small jumps over raised cattle grid and humps. Great vid! Thanks! 🙂
Thanks for the vid. Looking at 2023 cb500x for some gravel road riding, nothing too serious. You answered everything i wanted to know. Next stop, bike shop!
So glad it was helpful 👍. Look out for my Puig touring screen review out this week. Maybe another item on your ‘maybe’ list. Ride safe. Enjoy your 500. Mike@ LR 🇿🇦🙂
I have to agree with you on all points. I enjoy my CB500X. I am about an inch shorter than you. I am tippy toes on it but so far no problems. Any shorter and you may consider lowering it.
@@lekkaridesGot her home after 770 mile round trip to pick it up…St George, Utah to Grand Junction, Colorado. Two short rides so far & bike is marvelous! After only riding dual sports this is a new experience. It’s so smooth, comfortable, and stable. You have some beautiful areas to ride & your vids & photography are great. Cheers!!
Nicely dine Si, couldn't think of a better place myself, glad Cape Town has some great memories for you both... now you just need to come ride a 500x here 😁🇿🇦
Howzit. The bike has no additional mudguards. Perhaps you are talking about the engine guard? If so, that is made by Rockfox and you can get one from www.flyingbrick.co.za 👍🙂
As much as I like to be sarcastic in my comments - here I simply don't know what to mobe....🤢 This bike is, maybe only one, Honda has made - to serve its' purpouse. I guess if you fit a net on the seat, or reopace the seat with, even more comfy one, it will be THE bike for traveling ( road mostly ). Simple, reliable, economical, enough power, looks fine, comfortable, not pricy to buy...... not too heavy..... If Hondas' management were not STINGY, they would upgrade their NC750"X" with suspension, wheels from this CB500X and dual brake discs.... + CC. In that case - THAT could be THE bike to have.....
Great feedback, I also had a 750X before this 500X and must say I much prefer the 500 but for an all round bike those does it all for the largest amount of people you may have hit the nail on the head 🙂🇿🇦

@@lekkarides always cool to get inspiration.. You got any plans to upgrade suspension?
@@nomanonroad at this stage the suspension is working just fine so I don’t feel the need to upgrade any of it. 👍🙂
Can you tell me what brand is the mud guard? Thanks
