Man I've watched this several times just for the part where he picks up the nylon net. That's a VIBRANT color on it, and it looks so easy and smooth to hold. I would love to make my own mono one some day, gonna keep this saved to remind me!
I picked up the lost art of hand tying nets. I've made probably 7 or 8 so far all out of braided fishing line. I bought one of your needles you listed on ebay a while back.Would be nice to get a few more! I don't use lead for sinkers instead i used either 1/8 or 3/16 stainless steel chain for a continuous loop around the bottom.
I like the weightier nets. I have a 12' bag net my Dad gave me when I was younger. It's monofilament. I have 2 questions 1) I'm wondering if the bright, different colors affect the behavior of the mullet? 2) I'm afraid to ask what do a 12 ' braid net run, built like the one in the video... and I am sure it's worth every cent. T Y
From what I have read colors do not affect fish, The largest cast net I make is 10' English nets only. $700.00 for Dacron, $600.00 for Nylon. Thanks for your reply, stay safe.
BEAUTIFUL NET MIKE , I AM MAKING A NET OUT OF BONDED NYLON WITH INSTRUCTIONS FROM YOUR DVD I PURCHASED , WHAT SIZE OF LINE WOULD YOU RECOMMEND TO ADD TO THE BOTTOM FOR LONGER LASTING WEAR AND TEAR, AND HOW MANY ROWS OF IT WOULD BE RECOMMENDED , AND LASTLY WOULD YOU USE THE DOUBLE SELVAGE APPROACH ? THANKS AGAIN FROM MONTANA
@@SittingBearProd 😂 A while back I was watching a video on complex fishing knots, and the guy says “if you’re the kind of person that uses Velcro shoes, this knot might not be for you” Your comment made my day lol 😆
Great looking net. As a lifelong net maker and thrower, I can tell you that a mono net will by far outfish a dacron or nylon net. Mullet see the the net coming and they sink much slower than mono. To get the same sink rate out of those will break your back.
@@mikeusina73 As a matter of fact I built and threw a dacron net and there's no comparison. The same poundage of dacron sinks faster than nylon twine but not as fast as mono but I believe the main reason mono outfishes dacron is the visibility factor.
you do realise that mono takes longer to sink than nylon or dacron right? nylon and dacron as a material sinks. i have used both cast net of same weight and same hole size, mono cast net sinks slower.
All the shrimp nets are the plastic line, they are thinner diameter than the old green dipped twine. They pull way faster. It's about the diameter of the line and your mesh size. Bigger mesh is way faster.

Sorry, it took me so long to answer, I use #6 the last foot of the net.
How much cost in this cast net
email me usinamike@gmail.com
Can you help me learn how to mend cast nets or even help me learn to make nets?
I do not mend nets, I have several videos on youtube that will show you how to make a net, no charge, email usinamike@gmail.com Thanks for the note.
what brand braided dacron?
Cortland
the biggest problem with braided nets is the weight. they get pretty heavy once theyre soaked in saltwater.
Eat better & go to gym 👍🏻👍🏻
