I teach ESL and Basic Interpersonal Communication Skills, or BICS, typically take a child somewhere between 0-2 years to learn depending on immersion. Adults can take longer, so my guess is that in about a year, we'll see some short interactions.

1:40 this sounds like an exaggeration but it's very real. I had some Dominican friends and you would often hear them shouting across the house to friends and extended family members (not even the closer relatives like your mother's brother/sister or grandfather, i mean cousin on your mother's side twice removed, or your 3-times removed aunt's husband) every single day, and it would go on for hours.
as a Puerto Rican i can say...i actually relate to Mouse story... i have had situations like that and some of them have been extremely awkward..
like the time my brother's ex wife came to visit me for no reason... or the time one of my aunt who i haven't seen in years found my phone number and then visit me out of the blue..

Followed by the likes of Rome. While Brits are certainly up there, based on how one defines "empire", China's economic chokehold, United States' massive NATO cockswinging contest, and even the likes of the dreaded Frenchies can give them a pretty damn close run. (Britain did have the most total land although I'm not sure if this was all at once or counting everything they once owned and not just simultaneously)

You could make an argument for China, but economic dependency doesn't mean you control that land, it just means you can cuck the people who do control that land if they displease you.
We also didn't lose our empire because of the world wars, we lost them because a certain country that held nuclear weapons, in a time where we still didn't, threatened us if we didn't release them.
Although I will admit, we didn't do a very good job on releasing our colonies(just look at how we originally left India)
