    You might be able to change the bearings to ceramic bearings and get it to cast smoother and lighter lures, sacrifice a bit of distance though. I just ordered this reel as my first bfs reel paired it with a mavllos delicacy rod and it's a little over $50 USD. Going to make loads of videos on it. I've been spoiled and have used my friend's various $600-900 BFS combo's as well as his $150-300 range bfs combo's. Bet i'll catch more than him with this $50 combo lol. Cheers dude you got a new subscriber. Stay tuned for my episode.

    Thanks for the video, I have the Acura 50 and the bigger Dark Wolf 150 (not 50). Is the Commando closer in size with the Acura 50, or is it bigger? Is the spool compatible with the GKA 200? Thanks!

      The Commando not sure how big in relation to the DW150 but it is the next size up from the Acura. I am pretty certain the spool is compatible with the GKA200 as it is with the misurelure

    How would this reel do in saltwater application?

    • @TheConstantAngler
      @TheConstantAngler  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@lalo1704 I use mine regularly in saltwater. I tighten the drag and spray over with a water bottle. I then take the side plate off and whilst covering the spool I spray my braided line, before wiping around the rim of the spool and frame with a damp cloth. I leave it apart to dry and make sure to loosen the drag again so as not to crush the carbon washers. When I have put it back together I add a little oil to the bearings if required or grease to the level line mechanism. I do this every trip. I don’t use it every week more like a couple dozen times a year.

      I’m not sure exactly as I didn’t measure it out, but as far as any other reel that size. It depends on the rod you are using. If it is designed to throw lures that size then good distances. It has a free running spool so probably further than others.

      @@TheConstantAngler How does the valiant eagle and the seasir compare to the Zephyr?

    • @TheConstantAngler
      @TheConstantAngler  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @slabslapper8507 The Valient Eagle isn’t as well made as the Zephyr but it has tighter tolerances and is a much more compact reel. Some say it is over braked but only if you consistently through sub 2gr lures. It is actually hard to birdsnest. The Commando is a fantastic reel for the money. Really smooth like the Acura but more the size of the Zephyr. Again I ended up tweaking the brakes by adding 2-3 magnets. Now it is a fantastic reel.

    Hey mate, what do you specifically look for in what would be deemed a saltwater safe reel? Stainless shielded bearings? What about the Man gear material?

    • @TheConstantAngler
      @TheConstantAngler  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Brass for a main gear is good and Aluminium can be, so most of the reels we use shoudn't be too bad. I guess because i generally use budget reels i do not worry too much. I spray them off after each trip and make sure i pay attention to the level wind plus spool and its rim. To be honest i don't have many problems but i am not using my reels day in day out and probably once or twice a month. This would be a great question for my group BFS Budget Finesse Fishing. Why not ask it and i will add it to the guides. While we are at it you are very welcome to post your videos on it mate.

    • @TheConstantAngler
      @TheConstantAngler  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry its taken me a while to get back to you. I agree that maybe brass will last longer but alot of these reels have Aluminium main gears these days and I have not heard of any problems with them. I guess it depends on how much and what you use it for, alongside how well the gearing is manufactured. Im guessing whatever they state it will be the same as that in many budget reels. As it is so cheap at the minute i think you have little to loose. ive not experienced any problems with mine but I am not using it week in week out. hope that helps.
