    We are starting a new series for beginner home cooks who want to learn the basics of home cooking without a recipe and no measuring. I'm going to show you how to cook soup at home by cooking with theory, intuition, tasting, and lots of love!
    I am not a professional chef but I do know my way around the kitchen and I am here to show you how easy it is to make soup without a recipe or measurements, Friend to Friend.
    Join me in the kitchen, hang out, and maybe I can share a few tidbits I've learned from over a decade of cooking from scratch for our plant-based family of 7.
    Let us know if you'd like to see more of this type of video by leaving a comment with what you're struggling to cook at home and we may pick your idea next.

    Hi! We are Trey and Rosa, we have 5 kiddos and we moved from the big city of Las Vegas to the outskirts to homestead and grow our own food with the goal of self-sufficiency. We have a small homestead with Nigerian Dwarf goats, ducks, chickens, and also have cats and dogs running around everywhere and recently converted to eating a full plant based diet due to health reasons.
    We are passionate about growing our own food, eating clean & healthy, cooking food from scratch, desert gardening and making simple skincare products for our family and for you.
    We specialize in making 100% goat's milk soap using fresh goat milk from our own Nigerian Dwarf goats that provide the most moisturizing bar of goat milk soap you'll try. We love all the benefits of our goat milk soaps and find that it's great for skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and dry skin.

      Hi friend! Thank you! Soups make a non veggie eater eat more veggies I reckon 😝 do you make soups often?

    • @AlethiaDavis-nr2yd
      @AlethiaDavis-nr2yd 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I make soups once a week for that quick go to for lunch or dinner. I also freeze them individually if I am ready for a new adventure. So there is always a Curry, Lentil, Chillie, Potato with some sort Greens option in Freezer to heat up with a slice of Sourdough. All Vegan of course. 😉I have done this for years so that I don’t get bored with the same thing. It truly works. Thanks for asking.

    • @thehaipath

      We will have to try this, that’s genius! Always having some type of soup in the freezer for a quick meal is a great idea!

    Oh my goodness! I loved this! Especially the end! Your taste tester is so sweet and you could tell he appreciated your effort! I am going to love the series HOME COOKING 101! My VEGAN/WFPB fifth anniversary is in April. I went plant based for health reasons (horrible knee pain) and stayed for life because of the animals! You can’t unlearn the horrors you discover relating to animal cruelty! ❤❤❤ l love your channel!

      That's awesome Happy EARLY vegan/WFPB anniversary, we love that you went WFPB for those reasons. Eating this way really is optimal for health. We are living examples! Trey has an autoimmune condition and plant based diet has helped him. Our oldest and myself have a weight issue and that's corrected it too. So grateful!

    My guess before watching the video: empty the crisper drawer onto a cutting board. Chop until everything you want in there is about the same size. Sautee, starting with hard vegetables and excluding leafies, and get a nice brown on everything. Add water or veggie stock to cover by about an inch, then bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until tender. Add leafies in the last five to ten minutes, depending on how badly you want them to disappear into the soup. Serve with crusty toasted bread.
    How'd I do?
    During: I missed salt and seasoning.
    During: missed seasoning the layers, too.
    During: your junior camera crew is delightful ❤
    After watching: my soups are going to taste better when I start cooking them longer than half an hour.

      Your approach is very relatable, sometimes you just need to do what you can and sounds like you’re building flavah up in derh!

      @@thehaipath thank you for asking, actually just thought so in general when I learned that older blood vessels can be served by thinner blood due to possible partially blocked arteries. Thankfully I don’t have that according to a coronary angiogram that I got, but just in general I was saying.. but yeah 😊

    Hi Rosa,
    That soup looks delicious! I cook by feel and taste like you do. Baking is another story lol! I follow directions except for the add ins. I also substitute sugar and oil with applesauce and naturally sweet dried fruit like dates or raisins. I like to add beans to my soups. My current obsession are cannellini beans with a similar flavor profile to your soup. I do use a lot of garlic. I am on blood thinners but so far no bruising. 🤞🏼Have a wonderful weekend! Shabbat Shalom! ❤️😊

    • @thehaipath
      @thehaipath  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hiya Carol! I love using apple sauce in baked I just learned this trick and it’s really great, keeps things moist and it is a natural sweetener!
      Our favorite beans is also cannellini beans we LOVE them so much I actually purchased some dried in bulk so we can make them at home for cheaper and less heavy metals.
      Shabbat shalom! 🥰

      Hello Dianne! I added a touch of water after simmering but it was only about a quarter cup or so. I had it in quite low so the water didn’t evaporate too much.

      Hello and welcome, we just responded to your previous comment under your comment, but basically yes we have a homestead and were meat eaters at a point in time. That was an old video, and we have then switched to a plant based diet due to health reasons and personal conviction. We do not want to hide our past so our old videos will remain.
      We now focus on making plant based food videos helping others make the swith easier 🥦

    Ive got to say i learnegd something new. I didnt know that garlic was a blood thinner. I loved your story about the mashed potatoes. It reminds me of when i was following a couple of recipes from an old cookbook call the Joy Of Cooking. I was makink bread and some blackberry jelly. There were blackberries across the street from our house. My two year old son and the dog went to pick some. Well, i picked them. Him and the dog were eating them. So, i went home and made bread and the jelly. Everything smelled so good. My bread didnt rise. It was the size of the pan. And i didnt know i was suppose to strain the seeds out of the jelly. My husband at the time ate it though. He said it was good.
