There is a tradition with Joahim and the German audiences... They yell out "Noch ein Bier" and after the repartee with them, he chugs a beer. I believe he only drinks one per performance.

Well, I was at Frauenfeld in Switzerland and the crowd yelled it after every song. I think he finally had drunk two or three beers, but the last one he got in a small red cup, so it could be possible that that one wasn't beer.

During a performance at the Wargaming booth at Gamescom (forgot which year that was) we managed to get him drink two. First one per usual, then later he tried to cop out saying they have no more beer so unless we had more ... and a dude in the crowd donated his can for the greater good. Joakim's response was to curse his big mouth right before he chugged it.
A neat moment to remember for my first and possibly only Sabaton concert.

Sabaton has great crowd engagement. It's the biggest let down to finally see a band you've loved only to have them show up, play, leave. Never once had that happen with Sabaton. Never pass up a chance to see them life if you have it, David!

Red Baron will always have a special place in my heart because it was the first Sabaton song I ever heard. Great reaction, and I'm so glad you liked it too!

Sabaton is never shy about paying homage and showing their influences. thus, the "Kiss style" drum. You can also hear the influence of Uriah Heep. That song is a direct descendant to "Easy Living" and it's done so well, you can tell from the start that it's Sabaton. Great stuff !

I was at this show. Great evening. But to short. Berlin has some strict rules regarding noise late at night and the venue in the middle of the city.

Considering the lyrics of the chorus, I was not surprised that you ended up given the song the HIGHER score 😂
Bad puns aside, great catchy song, and I love the organ intro (which it's actually in the album version as well) directly taken from the baroque classical piece
Hope you do Christmas Truce at some point, it's another great song that includes keys and the story is wonderful

Sabaton shows never disappoint. Great performers and fun to watch. This song is not my favorite, but still good, especially live.
Also, Joakim _did_ go half-naked at one point in time during live performances. It was at least 10 or so years ago and we were nearing the end of the show. The crowd had been chanting (translated from Dutch) "pants off, [put them] on your head!" all night, and though he had been resisting throughout the show, when the show was over, the madman actually took off his pants and put them on his head. Really wish I had taken a picture of that, and I'm not sure if any footage can be found online about this.
If all goes well, I'll be seeing them live again next year. Will be my 7th time, if I'm not mistaken.

To be fair, Joakim has said in interviews that they generally do not drink before or during shows. The only exceptions are an occasional glass of wine or single beer during dinner before a show or from time to time if the fans send one up. He stated that he really respects the fan base and he considers it rude to party and play a bad show that people paid to come see.

@9:20 they do a lot interesting stuff, like using national anthems in songs or what was popular at the time in the country being the focus of the some. Lots of classical as well.

If you watch the video on Dragonforce's channel where Herman and Sam had Joakim and Par join them on their livestream, they actually talk about when the two bands were touring together early in their history and some members of Sabaton decided to streak onto the stage during Dragonforce's set. So what Joakim said at the beginning does have some evidence to support it.
Also, I'm not sure if you know, but Joakim was originally the band's keyboardist, not vocalist. They were still looking for a lead singer, and when Joakim was presenting the songs that he was writing to the band, he would sing the melody to them just to demonstrate it, and eventually the band just gave up on finding a different singer and hired a different keyboardist instead. Of course, when that keyboardist left in early 2012, they just decided not to replace him.

The whole crowd chanting, and the first things Joakim played on the organ was their song "Swedish Pagans". It's been a running joke within the Sabaton community that Joakim dislikes the song, and doesn't want to play it live anymore. which is why he says "So, do you wanna hear that song? well too fkn bad, because it's time for The Red Baron". It's great jokes!

The album version of the song is actually played in a higher key (orange instead of yellow; if that seems weird it's because I've always seen different pitches in music as different colors). Overall I thought this was fine both performance and song wise, though I've seen and heard better from both.

Could you please make a video about Sabaton's song Hill 3234?
It's another song about USSR. And I get it, the timing is a bit awkward but politics shouldn't influence and ruin a music experience.
However, I would be really interested in a reaction from YOU of all people. You provide a great insight into the music.
Hill 3234 is definetely more on the simplistic side of Sabaton songs. I'm curious of what effect it would have on you.

    • @honzabalak3462
      @honzabalak3462 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Maybe I should specify it a bit more. Thanks for the ❤️, by the way. I appreciate it.
Maybe my original comment was a bit harsh towards the song. By "simplistic" I definetely didn't mean it's a bad song or easy to perform or anything like that.
It involves a lot of fast drumming which certainly isn't easy. The lyrics are also very much so creative - just like other Sabaton songs.
It's just that the music itself sounds more or less like generic metal, without the usual Sabaton nuances. And that's what I was trying to convey with the "simplistic" rating.

I totally agree with your drinking onstage perspective...I never drank when I toured while I was playing---reason is simple---that was my job, you wouldn't want your sales staff, your workers, etc drinking on the job would you---of course not---that's simply why I didn't
