They probably planned that to happen for years, it FINALLY happens, and the prop manager was like "My time has come." Like, the screens are covered in dust, sitting in a corner, forgotten to all but the props manager. He came into the studio that night, staring wistfully at them, remembering all the years ago he carefully made them. And as he hears "... I'm gonna poke the fire!", a smile slowly spreads across his face.
Never had a late night show host have so much fun with so little budget -- fake fire, fake band, talking rhino head, kangaroo testicles, old rotary phone, basket of fruits, pipe, snake mug, mouth organ, half dollars, pic of Angela Lansbury (I mean, Paul McCartney), two interns in a horse costume, robot skeleton, Drew Carey's doll, rabbit puppet, ... and oh yes, a stool in case Tom Cruise showed up. Did I miss anything? :-)
The haggis in the TARDIS, the other employees (Michael, Bridger, Tuyen, Lisa and so on), the other puppets besides Sid (the crocodile for example), the life lessons from aquaman, the tweetmail intros, the awesome skits (Prince Charles, J K Rowling, Bill Clinton, Sean Connery..) Also his trips to Paris and Scotland with Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Ariel Tweeto, Michael Clarke Duncan and Steve Carell. I'm also forgetting a lot of things, but it's great to search for all the memories :) EDIT: the CBS Executive, all the studio flies (jay leno and so on), Florian and Ralf from Kraftwerk, the week of "other Geoffs" (like Larry King), all the "high def machine" animations (like ides of march, 4th of july..), the cussword flags, all the wonderful studio audience members from the US and all over the world (that would sometimes be sent to a restaurant like Craig's, The Ivy and so on)..
I like the idea that the first time they put the fire in somebody must have said, "We'd better get some backups because guaranteed one day Craig will fuck this thing up."
hey guys does anyone know where i can find the clip where they turn the segment into a 'kids show' where geoff say he finds a penny, n craig reply ' a penny u say' ...that was my fav moment but i couldnt find it
I wasn't up late enough to have watched the show but I came across it on youtube and started binge watching it. They were so funny, why was it taken off the air? I love it when Craig laughs and loses it and Geoff is hilarious. Were the ratings not good enough?
Rosie Red for some British loser that’s more appealing to CBS’s idea of millennials (not me and i was born in 2000) and he’s only known for singing in a car with celebrity’s, how stupid is that.
I always thought it was because they didn't offer him David Letterman's spot when Dave retired. To me that would've been the natural progression. I mean, Colbert got Dave's spot, then Craig Ferguson announces that he's leaving like two weeks later.
Craig was definitely ready to go. He had had the freedom he had to do what he wanted because he worked for Dave. And as Dave was leaving, and he felt he had done as much as he could with the show, it was time. Ten years of one thing was enough, and producing such a high energy show, and keeping fresh every day was pretty exhausting. Although he said it became fun again after he knew there was an end date. Finally, he delayed the announcement of his leaving until after the clamor of Dave's leaving died down. Thank goodness for the videos/playlists in the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson Archive channel, and TVsCraigFerguson channel ! Over 1000 full episodes.
@@Blazfemur Yeah, he wouldnt have burned himself on the poker if the fire wasnt real. I mean, Craig was always talking about how big a budget the show had, so clearly he would be able to afford a real fire. Right?

😂 I can totally see that
The fact that not only did they have a backup fire ready, but also an unlit fire...
I know
Plus that backup was a bigger fire, so him poking it actually worked as it would for real.
Pure genius.... I about died... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💀
I love this. 0:42 CF clearly didn't think the crew would be ready with a back-up fire.
You could say it.. backfired.
LOVE YOUR COMMENT XD

We in no way deserved this show
Very true.
It won't be forgotten to those of us who recognize its worth
Well, we certainly don't now.
I just realize that the last one didnt have any fire so that Craig wouldnt poke it again.
vahl1certified Yeah, the clip was too short to be able to see that sufficiently.
That second fire was also bigger, so him poking it actually worked.
That is the music that starts playing in my head after my first cup of coffee every morning
Although, it's not the most famous "Craig clip", it's quietly, one of my faves! 💕💕🤣😂🤣

You forgot about the TARDIS!
The low budget made the show THAT much better! Craig and Josh could REALLY improvise that much more!

Legend. Change my mind....
All of Geoff's places all around the world !
The look on Craig's face when the music starts...
That fact this was a late night "Adult" show just made me love it that much more...some of us just never want to grow up and still love being silly :D
This is every show summed up in 1 minute & 42 seconds!
They don't have a faintest idea of a fourth wall - and I luv it! :)
years later i still think about this moment
From the music to Craig's dancing this whole bit reminds me of the Monty Python Fish Slapping Dance.
I would watch this every Saturday morning.
either this was planned or someone on the prop team figured out how he thought
He was busy for weeks to try and destroy the fire with logs ... It was bound to happen.
@@Snaakie83 I remember that. That was hilarious 🤣
They never planned shit for anything😂
@@sohrab.moazami Agreed. I don't think the meetings are going "we should let him poke paper fire, that would be ratings mania" lol

98% of this show is Craig not giving a fuck and doing whatever he wants.
Hannibal Lecter I've heard that too. But what he does, it's so funny

Possibly the best thing that's ever been on tv
Clip was cut WAY TOO SHORT !!!
The freakin' best talk show ever!
When children play with fire, you put the fire out permanently 😂
Have to admit, that was pretty awesome.
This show is second only to the Eric Andre Show in terms of how weird a talk show can get. RIP Geoff.
they can still stage a comeback
Why does this make me laugh so much?
I feel like I need to do this. Put a fake fire in my living room on wall somewhere for a fake fireplace... and then I'll poke it just for fun. hehe
one of my favored
