  • The video you have all been waiting for. The first cycle video of the 2016 Speed Queen, 9 series! You'll notice my voice is lower, and that's because I made this video around 11:00 PM.
    My cam likes to do the sound adjustment thing during the spin cycles and that's very annoying, so I apologize for that. Hopefully I can do something about that in the future. One thing I love about our setup is how much noise the water makes when it flows!

    See folks. This is an old fashioned one piece agitator that is well designed . It doesn't need an auger on top to push the clothes down.Speed Queen took the best of Whirlpools old belt drive surgilators and utilized the design to great effect in this washer. No need for a dual action agi in a Speed Queen.

    • @BroccoliBeefed
      @BroccoliBeefed 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not an auger agitator

    • @patcola7335
      @patcola7335 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      .....this agitator is more of a cross between the old belt drive surgilator that Whirlpool used for decades and the power fin agitator Maytag had in its older Newton made machines. Now they've gone and ruined it.

    My 2 year old AWN92 is working fine without any problems and get the clothes really clean in just over 30 minutes start to finish. Don't be put off my the modest size wash tub capacity, this machine will wash two loads to most other larger capacity machines one. It can easily keep my two dryers busy drying clothes.

    Nice Speed Queen! Speed Queen washers are just as good as the old Maytags, and they built just as well a a vintage Maytag. I have a Maytag A810 washer and Maytag DG810 gas dryer, and they work really well! I also have a Lady Kenmore portable washer, and portable electric dryer. Unfortunately, the Lady Kenmore portable electric dryer has a bad power cord, and the dryer does not come on at all now, and I need a new cord for it.

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well that's not too bad. A new cord shouldn't be too hard to get and attach. Oh the A810? I think that was top of the line at the time?

    • @seana806
      @seana806 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Maytag A810 is the top of the line, and was the replacement for the Maytag 806. The matching dryer to my Maytag is a DG810 gas dryer, but does not dry small loads all that well. I don't know why, but it seems that electric dryers dry better than gas dryers. I have a Maytag electric dryer, but it is not the matching dryer to the Maytag A810, but it seems to dry as fast as the gas dryer does. The old dryer that was at my old house was a Kenmore 70 series 29" electric dryer, from what I was told by my mom, it dried fast, and was gentle on the clothes.

      I agree. I typically do small to medium loads being it puts less stress on the machine and I have more available water options. I typically will make sure I can add about 2" of water above the clothes when submerged. This give me a great wash.

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's mostly the agitation arc that does the job. The direct drives were 90 degrees, so due to the shorter stroke, the straight vanes or surgilator types didn't do as well compared to the dual-actions. This washer, and the older Whirlpool belt drives had 180 degrees, so that did give the one-piecers more advantage.

    • @jonathanashbeck3740
      @jonathanashbeck3740 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's why I like the dual action agitator better because they clean better especially for heavy loads. The surgilator agitator does good for medium and small loads though imo

      This machine does an phenomenal job, I am SO glad my mom got it. I will very much miss the 1990 Whirlpool. Had that machine since I was 2. Definitely find a direct drive! You will not be sorry.

    • @patcola7335
      @patcola7335 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sharkie626
      The DD washers from Whirlpool were some of the best. My mom had 2, a Whirlpool in 1988 and the second in 2003 which was a Kenmore. Both great machines.
      If I can I will try to find another Kenmore 90 series DD washer. That was a very flexible washer with speeds and water temperature settings. I only wish Speed Queen would offer warm rinses. If I am buying expensive equipment I want to have that choice.
      Otherwise for those of you who were not old enough to remember the original belt drive Whirlpool/Kenmore and Maytag washers...these Speed Queens are the closest to those old workhorses.

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The direct drives were the best. Some people complained about the motor couplings failing but that's because they would try to stuff like 20 pounds of laundry into it. I don't think that was the direct drive's fault!

    Is the tub indexing done to help polish the wash tub? I've heard that it stops doing it eventually but never really heard why it does it at all. My machine is only about 2 weeks old so it's indexing like crazy and probably will for quite a while to come.

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, the indexing is because the machine's brake has not set in yet. We've had the machine since October of last year, but it has not gotten regular usage until last month. On our's it's definitely starting to index less which is good. It doesn't index at all anymore for something light like bed sheets. But for something like towels, it will just take a little more time to be fully set in.

      The reason why it does that is because the motor is actually directed to the drain pump & the belt turns the drum pulley of the washer to cause the inner basket to spin inside the washer which means the motor the pump and the belt works at the same time during the spin cycle that's why.

      I found a lightly used mechanical dial SQ on Facebook Marketplace for $175! It was manufactured 9/15, and was in a house for sale that was vacant for 2 years, so it had very little use. I looked at the 2018 models but was not interested after seeing videos and reviews. I LOVE my SQ!
