I had the same problem with this *SAME Otis Series 3* located in *The Sultan Hotel, Lagoon Tower* in Jakarta. Same chime and the microwave beep. The 90's Series 3 (which I loved) is aging into a near to its end of lifecycle.
@Le\7els inc. that's more like it. I was almost trapped in that elevator when the elevator suddenly stopped between the 3rd and 4th floor traveling from the lobby level, then safely returned to the 3rd floor. 3 out of 5 elevators in the bank was modernized by a generic South Korean elevator manufacturer.
I have ever encountered this kinda glitch quite a lot. It usually happens on Otis series 3, when it travels to long in one ride without stoping, it happens. There is a Otis series 3 near my home which serves 38 floors in total. When it travels more than 30 floors in one ride, this happens. Hope this will help you, DieselDucy
That malfunction either reminds me of your MPG videos with the famous Dover lift or your video at the Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, where lift #15N got stuck up at the penthouse (at the time)
It looks like a safety feature called "Normal Terminal Stopping" or something similar was triggered. This feature ensures the elevator car slows down before the terminal floor. If the speed is over the limit when approaching the terminal floor, the controller will force the car running on inspection speed immediately. If the speed still not decreasing, an emergency stop will be applied.
I think maybe it activated the brakes while transitioning from high speed to low speed, so goes high speed -> stop -> low speed -> stop instead of high speed -> low speed -> stop.
I think I encountered something similar at another hotel. It was a Westinghouse. I selected floor 25 but the elevator jolted violently on the 20th floor and then travelled DOWNWARDS to floor 10 and then continued its way to 25. I still don't believe it
I have lived my first stuck in a same Otis and I saw how it restarts live, mine shows the "- -",goes basement/ground faster than it's speed thrice and finally goes to the last memorized floor, what makes it even more awesome!!!!!!!
i think what happend was a power outage for one second. Let me explain. so theres a power failure. and the city(Or building) switches to a backup power. And the elevator detected that and stopped
It was the door rollers getting hit to the point it unlatches, this is common on most Elevators/lifts which have GAL or Euro and maybe asian style euro rollers too? But yeah it's pretty common but it's something not to worry about, just hope it doesn't jam into the outter door and you're good.
john leininger There are to switches Limit switch and the real overrun switch As far as I heard, If the limit switch hit, it means the lift is in the toppest floor, sometimes the lift could be out of sync with the controller. And it corrects itself..... and the overrun switch virtually kills the power.
Elevators aren’t perfect, things like that can happen, and that was a one time thing. I’m sure those are perfectly fine just the way they are! They look very nice
I had to delete a few of the "first" comments due to the amount of drama it caused. "First" people will just continue to do to say it, who the fuck cares? This elevator is not bad. Look at the elevators in China. Many people die in those elevators. Those are elevators from hell. My rating for this elevator: “B”.

Ghyuuuuiu
Sounds like the clutch clipped the lock coming into the floor and caused a safety circuit break.
Shouldn't that be AN elevator?
@@kenrutherford1109 All elevators have this and without it the doors won't be able to open
Has that Microwave beep that I love sm!!
I'm wondering if something tripped the elevator when the elevator did that weird thing.
The elevator stopped at the 24th floor
Probably a safety break with something in the shaft

That would be scary if that happened on an elevator that was going 1400 FPM!
Ok great, I live on floor 31

that moment when the elevator takes an extra 5 to 15 seconds to open 😱
Hate this!!!!!
1:05 got stuck and doors opened
Yep
To see the real *weird elevator malfunction* go to 1:05 and listen close.
Thank me later.
Fahri Adam Aronggear-Adamy I cant here anything
Le\7els inc. but he said listen real close so
1:52 - there is a fire alarm sounder in the lift?! Haha that’s rare
Sounded like the 2nd one did the same coming in.
I think maybe it activated the brakes while transitioning from high speed to low speed, so goes high speed -> stop -> low speed -> stop instead of high speed -> low speed -> stop.
At 0:55 It skipped the 13th floor
most buildings dont have one

It's called an Annunciator

Scaryyyy!
It seemed to arrive at floor 24 rather fast without slowing down like it did in the rides to 24, maby brake kicked in because of the speed of arrival.
i think what happend was a power outage for one second. Let me explain.
so theres a power failure. and the city(Or building) switches to a backup power. And the elevator detected that and stopped
These elevators REALLY need an upgrade
I wonder if it hit the doors and tripped the door safety?
If not, it must have been a relay fault.
Or even the elevator may not welcome the visitors!!!!!!
The worse malfunction in in my Mitsubishi
The lift just slow levels at some floor while going down.
It didn't slow down initially.
Well then again, that elevator does look like it’s in horrible shape
And imagine just being on that elevator with that little bump part that happened in the end
LOL yeah.
I like the scrolling directional indicator
The exact same thing happened to me _twice_ in July on *TWO* different elevators (not here, elsewhere). I even caught one on camera (yet to upload)!
These "new cabs" (I hate to admit) look like they've seen better days and look a lot older than anything new, at least within the last 5 to 10+ years.
Nathan Andrew Davis They might have used this old architecture for a reason. Unless you mean that it just looks old in general and needs cleaning.
the lifts at my university are always malfunctioning
Don't tell me u died.... How can u if u did but. ... Pls, ima having a ptsd breakdown watching elevator deaths

That elevator seems just fine and dandy to me
Lol. Yea it is 😂. Good to see you Dan.
The elevator lift, might have hit a roller
It overshot the floor secretly!!!
That is very odd, maybe it hit the floor switch in the shaft late and the emergency brake went on.
Limit switch right? Yeah makes sense because it’s anyways the toppest floor xS
if it hit finals the power to the motor would be cut

Mine has experienced two times with elevator crash like this. All of them are happened in Hyundai elevators
I have had that happen a few times to me 😂
prob was a hard brake
I don't know what it was.
If the hotel is spending a lot of money on the renovation, then they MIGHT modernize the elevators!
mod is a great way to fix that malfunction.
@@SamSitar And ruin the character of the elevators, as well as make series 3 even rarer, especially in the touch sensitive form.

I like how he calls it a car lmao
Well, that is its name.
Did it hit the top of the shaft???
The lift probably hit the roller causing a safetybreak.
Dieselducy did the elevator overshot the 24th floor and hit the top of the shaft?
Notice that their was no floor 13
My kingdom to see one of these.
has to be something with the door operator look at the door speed when you board and when it opens from that point on its stupid slow
There’s no 13 floor. Why is that?
Look at the button and the directional lantern in the 24th floor
Yep

Some people are so weird, why skip floor 13? It's just a number.
Jason G because it is considered an unlucky number in many traditions
0:56 Why did the indicator skip the 13th floor?
Well hotels have said that the 13 floor is known for bad luck so many hotels don't have a 13 floor
Many buildings in general don't have a 13th floor
13 is lonely ☹️
