Recently, digging up the courtyard of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, some old wooden water mains wrapped in copper wire were discovered... from "the ooooooold west."
Here in Ogden, Utah, if you take a hike up Waterfall Canyon, you can see the old water pipeline made of wood, along the trail. There are also a number of old cars in the canyon...still no clue just how they got there, but there are four or five of the between Waterfall and Stongs Canyons.
Learned something new today about the wooden water pipes. Cool dead effect. Spooky. Awesome! Sad thing is, I'm older than that gum. Congrats on Ally's furbaby. Sooo cute. Yes, I did "squeeeee" out loud when I saw it. Hugs all around!!!
I have been visiting Knotts for 66 years and I agree, they have really kept up the old classic park, it looks great. Well maintained and don't you love the Missions!
I just noticed that at 6:22 the Sam Andreas grave has been filled in, it used to have for a long time a degraded wooden board with some rocks on top that would shake when the effect worked. wish they wouldve restored the effect instead

Must be third series with those numbers...my first series had the backs printed with the original poster or shot of quartet in Millennium Falcon cockpit; collect and put them together. Others had movie info. Was never a fan of that card gum even when it was "fresh"...
Justin when i was at Knotts back in 1974 they also had a spot where you could pan for gold and you actually got real gold flakes and i do recall the talking graves but not clearly but you could be right about the beer drinking grave .

It was located where people used to pan for gold....down from Mrs. Knott's Fried Chicken, beside the volcano (remember the little devil in the glass case at the wheel?) I LOVED the Star Wars cards! I was 7 when the movie/cards were out and believe me, the gum didn't taste any better then! I went to Knott's the first time in 1953-I grew up in Pico Rivera so we went there often even on School field trips-I always had to see The Wagon Train show and the Jesus opening his eyes chapel-loved those glow in the dark Jesuses-and the hall of minerals shop with the black light rocks very similar to the one that used to be next to the mine train at Disney----the Native American Statues were on a building that had a mural of the S W Desert including one that many called Tiger Lily (similar costume) I remember when the devil cranked the motor the volcano erupted-I don't remember the draining beer glass but that may have been in the 90s or early 2000's when I didn't go to Knotts much....heck I used to go a couple days of week to the Deer Park-I loved that place-and there was a wonderful restaurant on Beach or Harbor called the Kona Tiki or Kona Hawaiian-it had the BEST ginger salad dressing and Teriyaki everything-did you know there was a huge wax museum down closer to Knotss in the 60's? It was great-I'm almost 70 but sometime I would love to share my memories with you.....
That kitten looks very young..I hope it's getting the proper nutrition :) my brother rescued two kittens on the side of road and we had to give them kitten milk for weeks. We did lots of research on how to take care of them! Have a nice day :)
I too liked the uniqueness of the old Knott's. Have you ever wondered what the two Walts talked about when they strolled through one other's amusement parks? Perhaps if you wanted a little video project, you could make something up and cut back and forth to yourself in each character? I'd be fun by the time you were done with it!
If I had to choose, it would be Knott's Berry Farm. I love that place! It's been 40 years since I was there, but when my family would go, I always preferred Knott's.
As someone who commented on an earlier video that "Knotts' doesn't care about its history," I see your point and concede. In any case, they've proven they care about their history now. I'd say that a lot of people would care enough to speak out (judging by the crazy amount of people I saw on the last day of Ghost Town Alive). I think the next challenge would knowing what to ask them to preserve! I'm certainly not knowledgeable about Knotts' and though I am interested, the history doesn't appear to be as easily accessible compared to Disneyland. I know there are books and eventually, I mean to read them, but it'd be nice to read a little info online for free. Anyway, thanks for just walking around Ghost Town and showing what you know, I appreciate it a lot (like I _never_ noticed the undertaker thing). I just heard that they are continuing Ghost Town Alive so I may get a season pass. Anyway, speaking of long lost effects, have you been around Toontown lately? I highly recommend going and revisiting some of the stuff you've mentioned in your video about forgotten Toontown. Besides just repainting, they're actually fixing old effects! Last time I was there, I was looking at the cannons at City Hall, wondering if they would ever work again, and at that moment, they went off when Goofy came onstage (though with no sound effects)! They've even been paying attention to tiny things, like the water boiler pipes in the Roger queue (in the dip room). I believe they've been paying attention to Mickey's house too as the groundhog in the garden is working (I was convinced I had made up the memory of it so I was pretty surprised). They are tinkering, so of course, some effects are on and off different times I've gone. Though, I haven't noticed any work on the west side of Toontown (Gadget, treehouse, boat)...
The dead guy in the coffin had a very creepy effect. he would momentarily without warning raise himself from the coffin and slowly turn to face you, he had a bullet hole on his forehead, then he would turn to face forward and lower himself back into the coffin.

In 1977 I was 18 and to this day I remember the taste of the stick gum from trading cards. Growing up I was a Batman guys and ate a lot of that gum. I remember even after a few years that gum was like that. I knew it was going to crumble, but it was such a great "Scientific Advancement" to further our existence by erasing the past or rather to chew it up and spit it out.
That gum was bad back then. The Farm is own by Cider Fair. If they want to put money and need the land they will build over the ghost town. It would need to be a big draw to see it to keep it safe.

Justin, you would be surprised how many "old time-y" wooden water mains are still in use in small towns. I am an environmental engineering and I have been on sites that have brick sewer and wooden water mains.... weeeeiiiiirrrrrdddd. They just don't have the population to pay taxes to replace it.
The gum tasted like that 40 years ago too....That's the orange series of cards which were the tail end of the collection for the first movie. There was the Blue, Red, Yellow, Green and Orange was the end. The neat thing is the card numbering didn't start over it just continued through all the colors in the series. IMHO the first movie cards were the best series. The cards for Empire and Jedi weren't as good.

You should check out the Calico silver mine north of Boron California. That is the mine that the Berry Farm's ghost town was modeled after.
