    Thank you for these lectures - I'm not a student of TCM but know Chinese and has a hobby learning it. It's brilliant how you understand Chinese in the context of TCM - a lot of these are ancient terms, even native speakers don't always know what they mean. TCM is already hard to understand, never mind the things lost in translation for a modern Chinese speaker reading ancient texts. It's easy to get lost in different names and memorize channels but not understand how the body works energetically. Just like allopathic medicine. You really explained very well how TCM works!

      Apologies. Sent before I finished commenting. I wanted to say that I teach a specific school of qigong : daoyin yang sheng gong (set exercises designed for each specific physical and physiological system). I was taught by a western disciple who honestly said, he was teaching from second hand translated instructions and notes. He advised those who are planning to teach, must study and learn ‘first-hand’ with our Chinese Professor before he will accredit us. I think why Nicholas is so credible, is he reads very widely and questions ++++ so as to get as close as possible to the basics of Classical Chinese medicine principles. Thank you Nicholas and well done. Now I have found you, I ll be following you.

    FYI: For advanced students / later studies. Nicholas, when they are referring to hitting the 8EM (aka the Soul Vessels) with a rock. They may have been referring to using the ancient modality of utilizing the medicinal properties of gemstones as medicine as they have a deep affinity and resonance with the depth and evolutionary function of the 8EM. (and yes this could have include the drawing of blood to release heat and access the depth of the 8EM with say sharp shreds of Obsidian, the stone used as one of the original acupuncture tools ) You may wish to cross reference this with the Jade Purity Lineage taught by Jeffrey Yuen an 88th generation Daoist teacher. It's not so weird as it is extraordinary.
    They call things weird when they just don't have the tangible understandings of the inner workings of something / or they want to deviate or distract from the truth or render it not as important as it truly is. As the different governing regimes did throughout china over the centuries. Remember the history of TCM is shrouded in turmoil, mystery and political agenda since further back then anyone can historically reclaim as so much of the truth was hunted, hidden and destroyed. This ancient branch of healing was one of them that survived via oral dictation.
    Love your work btw! You offer wonderful and concise explanations. You are a natural teacher.

    Hi Nicholas, I have a question about needling the point Lv-5 for the genitalia issue. Do you needle the point on the leg of the affected side, e.g. Needling Lv-5 on the Left leg for the swollen Left lip of your previous patient?

    • @tcmstudy
      @tcmstudy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually needle everything bilaterally. Other people have other opinions though, about doing same side or contra lateral. But I always keep it simple and do both side
