Leslie, I brown my cubed steak the same as what you did and place it in my crock pot but I take 1-2 cans of cream of mushroom soup and put it in a bowl with 1 can of water for each can of soup and stir it then pour it over the browned cubed steak and let it cook till tender and then I make rice to put it on. Also some times I will cut the cubed steak into cubes and do it the same way
Leslie
This is a perfect birthday dinner. It is a winner. I agree frying is hot and messy. Nice to is the family together.
You have a beautiful family ❤ the food looks delicious. Thank you for sharing. New subscriber Old School Soul food referred you
Can’t tell you how much I enjoy your videos you just have the cutest family. I’m just gonna give you a little tip I am way old enough to be your mom +. This is something that I have used for years and years and years. I don’t use it very often only if I have a really tough piece of meat and especially on the cube steaks cause I like them fried. This is an old meat tenderizer that has been around for a long time is called Adolphs Tenderizer. Comes in a white and red little bottle just small it’s only gosh couple ounces, anyway just sprinkle it on each side of the meat let it sit for a couple hours + and then bread and fry the cube steak and I think you’ll find it’s much more tender than it is without it. I have never wrote to anybody like this before 🤪 hope it makes any sense. Good luck
My beloved Mom used that too! I know exactly what you mean! ❤
I loved your haircut so much I went yesterday and had mine cut like yours. I showed my beautician. Your hair. I love it. I have never wore my hair short.
Leslie, I sure want to try this. Thank you for sharing this with us. It was nice to meet your brother. You have a precious family ❤️
Leslie 👍🏼👍🏼🤗👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼, you out done yourself. Looked delicious!!!. I know it tasted delicious as well. The whole family and Bubba said so and the grand babies. They are absolutely precious. Heart breakers. That was a lot of cube steak. That's how I do mine to get it tender. You could tell. Pastor Bryant loved it. He was into eating not talking. Lol. Get that belly full. You are truly wonderful. Where did you find the Blending Fork? I need one. You need to rest now. God bless ya'll. Leslie you looked so pretty today, you do every day. Stay safe. Love y'all. Hugs & prayers. Until next time.
My mom always made this in an electric frying pan with milk gravy. That is my ultimate comfort food. Mashed potatoes and green beans were the sides of course. She also made a buttermilk biscuit whole cake that I would fight for 😂
I love fried cube steak. I will absolutely try it this way of making it. Simpler to me. Glad everyone liked it. Nice meeting your big brother. May God bless and keep you and yours Ms Leslie.
The ultimate comfort meal! That little one, so precious! ❤
✍Hi Leslie...You're cooking one of my favorite meals. I don't use a crockpot I will have to try it sometime.I still brown the meat and make an onion gravy and finish in the oven then serve with mashed potatoes, gr.beans and a salad. Depending the size of your pie plate I use canned apple or any fruit Pie filling most of the time when making a pie and I've been cooking since I was 9 years old and I'm 77 now. I do make my pie crusts from scratch. So glad you shared Bryant's 🎈Birthday dinner with us 🎂Happy Birthday again.Just love your family. Hope the storm thats coming misses you, your family and the farm. God Bless LuvYa Bye from NE Ohio
I do my cubed steak this way but I slice an onion over it before pouring in the gravy. Great flavor and makes kitchen smell SO good!
This takes me back years ago. My mother made cube steak and gravy. She always fried it in cast iron skillet. She served it with mashed potatoes , corn bread and fried cabbage with red pepper flakes. Oh my goodness it was so good. I believe I could try this crock pot cooking cube steak. Thanks and God bless.
My mom used to make cube steak and gravy too. Love your family. That was nice to see your brother Bubba too. Love you all. God Bless ❤
That is the way I fix mine but I use round steak I just brown it on both sides then make the gravy and cut up onions to put in it and salt and pepper then add the meat in the gravy.. I let it cook about 3 to 4 hours and it is always so tender.. It is the best tasting meal with mashed taters, creamed sweet peas, homemade mac n cheese, and homemade hot rolls... Yummy.. Yours looks amazing..
I made that for dinner last night night. It finally came out right. I prepped it early in the day. I put it in the egg mixture and flour stuff. I put it on a rack and put it in the fridge until dinner time. I fried it for 2 or 3 minutes on each side. It fried so beautifully and it was tender
So happy everyone enjoyed. Thank you for introducing us to Bubba.
First of Leslie I want to wish you a belated Happy Birthday 🥳🎉🎂 I have been under the weather and days got away from me. I too struggle with cubed steak. My friend makes it alot and always for their Christmas gathering and it always so tender. They make sandwiches. She makes hers like you did. Your grandbabies are such good eaters- mine not so much but we keep trying different things. Your Christmas decorations are so pretty. Mrs.Steve
Leslie, the trick with any pie filling-use COOK type Clear Jel & only fill the quart jar just to where the “shoulders” of the jar start! The clear jel expands while it processes. That’s why it explodes for ppl. Once you can pie filling, you won’t eat store bought again. I process a lot of apples, so years ago my husband got me a peeler/slicer set for my Kitchen Aid. (He got sick of hand cranking the old one) The more uniform your slices are, the better they cook.
My mom used to fix cubed steak with gravy and it was my favorite too. After I brown the meat, I put it in a casserole dish, pour the gravy over it and cook it in the oven, covered, for one hour at 350 degrees. Comes out tender every time. Your method looks delicious too! Slow cookers can do wonders with meat!
Oh my this looks so delicious. It makes my mouth water! We call it Country Style Cube Steak and is one of my husband's favorites. Thanks for the cooking tips. Judah & Levi are so cute!
Awesome video, Leslie! Thank you for sharing this recipe. What a nice way to make cube steaks! They look delicious.
My beloved Mom made these a lot. She used meat tenderizer, and the cube steaks were tender and delicious when she fried them.
I love your earrings, Leslie! Oh, you should see the mess I make when frying lol Basically, any time I use flour, look out lol
So nice to meet your brother! He looks like a very nice man. Aww, Judah and Levi loved it too! Great to see the whole family together.
I love you guys, God bless you all 🤗❤️🙏🏻
And P.S. also I soak mine in buttermilk before I flour it.
It was nice to finally put a face with the brother you've mentioned in your videos! Congratulations on reaching 100,000 subs! My mom made cubed steak often and it's a favorite I've really been enjoying having recently. Your method looks so good and I can't wait to try it!
This is the way I make mine because it’s the only way I can get it tender. We love it. Your supper looked so good. How I enjoy seeing those precious grand babies on your videos.
Tell Bryant that we have 3 things in common. Cubed steak is my favorite meal with homemade creamed potato’s, string beans, and homemade cornbread. I also live in NC and I also love Jesus. Love you guys ❤️
I will tell him!
Leslie, congratulations on hitting your milestone! I really enjoy all of your content! It’s a great mix of everything!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
when I make Salisbury steaks or cube steaks I just use hamburger patties. Put in a baking pan with garlic powder and onion powder. Mix some brown gravey pour over the patties. If I have beef bullion cubes throw couple in. Hamburger patties are cheaper then cubed steak. Throw it in oven for about 40 minutes on 350* i cut onions up and added mushrooms before too.
Hello ... nothing beats steak n gravy !! Looks fabulous . Glad the whole family enjoyed it !! Glad to meet your brother ! Hope he’s doing well ! Both Judah and Levi are precious when it comes to their comments on the food ! Why know good cooking ..
Leslie! I made your cozy coffee! So delicious! I have even bought some canning jars and am filling them with the cozy coffee mix. I bought little $1 Christmas ornaments to attach to them. A thoughtful gift! Everybody NEEDS cozy coffee! Thanks for the recipe! Just thought I would let you know! ❤️ and yes, I’m going to try this steak!
Seriously, me and my kids have been drinking 2 cups a day. Its addictive.
Hi Leslie enjoyed your video I never made cube steak I'll have to try it it sure looks good looking forward to your next video take care
I missed the cozy coffee recipe, where can I find it. Thanks girls for bringing it to my attention. This is how I make my cubed steak also, except I do t put the chicken broth, I will have to try it.
@@anneburke1366 Anne, it was a few video’s back I think from a couple of weeks ago. It’s goooooooood!
Recipe for Leslie's COZY COFFEE
cube steak is my husbands favorite too!! And I always fry and put in either the crock pot or tightly covered in the oven. So tender and yummy!! I haven't ever used broth for the gravy, just use water but I bet thats good too!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Leslie,I made this yesterday for dinner..I always put onion in the bottom, then steak and grave..I do in crockpot4-6hours, oven and electric skillet..1 hour or more cook time never less.. great everytime..I believe the onion help with tenderizing..🤗
Your grandsons are just too cute!!! Your meal looked great! I hope you make the Apple pie filling! I bought some blackberry pie filling at a craft fair once, it was home canned, oh, it was so good!!!
Let us know how the apple pie filling turns out. That looks delicious! I love tipper so much from “celebrating Appalachia”. Ive learned so much from her, in every way! Cooking, gardening, language, on and on…
Another ive watched is “a country life”. They are cranberry farmers and she has a large family and homeschools and so she does a lot of good cooking that can work around her busy schedule. I just love seeing how they farm cranberries we buy, especially this time of year. I’ve started using a lot more fresh cranberries because of her.
My mom made cubed steak this way it is so good :) God bless yall
Hi Leslie I make this we call it chicken fried steak. I season the meat onion powder, garlic powder ,black pepper and all purpose seasoning I dip it in egg then coat it in all purpose flour fry it till crispy and serve with white gravy. I never knew cubed steak could get tuff maybe the egg makes the difference.
I'm going to try it that way also Leslie. mine always turns out tough. But it looks like a winner. Thank you again lady for showing how to make it delicious and tender.
I fixed my country style steak in a crock pot. Love it with mashed potatoes and green beans
Hello Leslie! Thank you for another wonderful video! It is so good to see your brother there with you. We finally got to see who this brother is that you have so lovingly talked about every now and then. Looks like he also enjoyed your delicious meal. Have a blessed weekend my friend! Love and hugs from Iowa!
Those granbabies are so sweet, Happy Birthday to you and Bryant !!!!
I MAKE THAT. I salt n pepper my cube steak, flour it and fry til I have a lil brown on each side put it in my crock pot,n I use the brown gravy or home style gravy or onion gravy n its delicious. Sometimes I make some homemade gravy to add but it always taste awsome
Gotta try this. My husband loves it and I have the same problem with it sometimes being tough!
Sorry Leslie didnt get to watch this the day of been having alot of health problems. That looks so delish have to try it. Bless u sweetie. ❤️
Leslie, look on Phyllis Stokes channel for "ALWAYS Tender cubed steak" I've been making this a few years and it's out of this world delicious. I couldn't believe. She passed away 2 years ago but her son had allowed her recipes to go on. Thank goodness.
Oh we watch the same video yes it was with Tipper cause I watched the same one and loved it
You need some of those cast iron handle covers to protect your hands--some are made like a potholder and some are silicone. They work great as long as you don't stick them in the oven with the pan!
I too have trouble sometimes getting cube steak tender. My husband who was a butcher for 40 years, says sometimes it’s the cut of the meat and also maybe wasn’t ran through the cuber enough. My mother use to pour hot water in the skillet and put a lid on it and steam it. You could cut hers with a fork. I’ll try your recipe.
Leslie, I hadn't ever thought about fixing it that way, I will now, We all know tender one-time tough next time , Thank you so much for sharing with us, Hugs n Love you all and many Blessings
I buy the tenderized cube steak at Ingles and its always tender. I brown it then put it in my crock pot to cook. I then make my gravy and add the cube steak from the crock pot.
Looks soooo good..right up my ally......Yeah to celebrating Bryant birthday
Hi Leslie, thank you for your great videos. We love cube steak also so listening to your video and reading the comments it seems that many cooks are having the same problem with the hit or miss of the steak being tender. I don’t think you are doing anything wrong I think it is the steak and how many times they have run it through the tenderizer. My mother use to work in the meat department in the grocery store, they usually used round steak for the cube steaks. Round steak has a great flavor but is not a tender meat so they run it through their tenderizer machine. So when I want cube steak I buy round steak and have them run it through the tenderizer 3 times. If I buy the cube steak I will ask them to run it through the tenderizer a time or two more. They are usually happy to do that for you. This way your steak is always tender and it doesn’t take that long to cook. I flour and season and brown my steak, then Cook some onions, then make the gravy and return the steak and onions to the gravy ,cover and cook for about 15-20 minutes longer. Just a thought for you and your viewers.
I make this and we call it smothered steak! It’s delicious and my family loved it!
This is a staple for some of my family. When I last had it, I noticed it was so so SO much more tender than EVER. I asked why & she said she used an air fryer. I couldn't believe the difference. It's usually great the way they make it, but this cut with a fork & just melted in your mouth! I'm assuming she fried it in the air fryer but dunno about the rest. If anyone is interested, I can ask her.
Edit: I'm thinking she fried it in the air fryer & maybe she has the air fryer that has the pressure lid on it. Because pressure cooking it in gravy would probably make it super tender right?
If you put some corn starch in your flour, you’ll definitely get that crispy crust you’re looking for. I also add baking powder and soda, but I know you were using the self rising flour. I don’t make this anymore because we had the most amazing chicken fried steak at a restaurant on vacation in Colorado, that my Mister begged me to recreate it, and It took a while, but I did, so that’s what I always do now with cube steak. I soak my steaks in buttermilk for just 10 or 15 minutes, then mix that buttermilk with several eggs. I season the flour, then dip the steak in corn starch, then the egg & buttermilk mixture, and back into the flour, then fry. I have a baking sheet on 215’ish in the oven, with a rack, and when they come out of the pan, into the oven, until all are done. Then I serve with mashed potatoes, veggies, gravy & a biscuit, just like you did. It’s tender, crispy, and phenomenal if you ever want to try it.:) God Bless!! 🙏🏼👍🎄
sounds delicious
I always have the same exact problem with my cube steak. Thank you for sharing, I'll be trying this.......blessings from Kentucky
Happy Birthday Bryant! Yummy dinner!
Aldi makes a great cubed steak. Sear it with salt, pepper and flour then take it out, get your veggies started, throw the meat back in, then braise or crockpot for a few hours. Sometimes I make it with tomatos and peppers. Other times I do mushrooms. My hubby prefers noodles.. I prefer mashed potatoes.
Leslie, same problem sometimes mine is tough too. So, I started making steak fingers like chicken fingers and cut across the grain. Cooks faster too and you can still make gravy.
This is how I prepare my cube steak also. You get the best of both, the frying and the tenderness from cooking in the crockpot. Still loving your hair cut!!
Looks so good. Did you make the gravy with just chicken broth? The whole meal looks delicious. I bet your family is so proud of you, for cooking the way you do.
I saw this on Tipper's channel too, definitely gonna try it now!
I discovered that cubed steak just isn’t real tender but I never thought of frying it up, making the gravy and putting it in the crockpot to cook for a couple of hours or so on low. Makes sense that it should get very tender. Thanks for the tip!
This recipe makes so much sense! I’ve got to try this!
Congratulations on reaching that special # you’ve definitely earned it girl. ❤
It looks delicious I can’t wait to try it and I enjoy your videos
Another way I've heard that you can tenderize cube steak is to soak it in buttermilk for a couple of hours or so. I beat the stuffings out of mine and fry it and then make gravy and dare my family to say anything negative....lol. I luv the crockpot idea....might have to give that a try. My kitchen looks just like that when I fry anything....lol. Hugs and Blessings.
This is my son Tyler's favorite meal...He asks for it for his birthday every year. I cook mine exactly the way you did yours except i make white onion gravy with mine...i take the drippings from frying and saute onions in it and take them out and add flour and milk salt and pepper...he always wants mashed potatoes, peas, rolls and homemade peach cobbler with vanilla bean ice cream...your's looked amazing...God bless you and your family Leslie😊😋
Ohhh and I add the onions back into the gravy with the steak in the crock pot and cook on low..
Most definitely going to give this a try. Thanks for your great video. 👏🇦🇺💞💐👋
It warms my heart to see folks around a table enjoying their meal. Your brother is close to my age I'm guessing....I'll be 62 in ten days. He is the one you've made the persimmon pudding and banana pudding for, right?
Yes he is!
Leslie , I have had the same problem cooking cube steak…sometimes it’s tender and sometimes it’s tough. I saw Tipper make this and I am definitely going to try it this way next time after watching you make it. Thanks for all you do
Love cube steak, one of my favorites. Most times it might turn out not fit to eat. No rhyme or reason either. I'm glad I'm in good company with you. Guess I better get out the slow cooker.
I’m definitely going to try it in the slow cooker. Thanks for sharing.
Those cute boys just steal the show. 😘 My cube steak is the same way. Tough one time then tender. This is definitely a solution. And yes frying makes a big mess! The things we do for our family. Can’t wait for 8:30. Thanks Leslie 🥰
Tender meats everytime...ok rinse/wash your meat and pat dry with paper towels. Sprinkle both sides of any meat with baking soda let sit 10 minutes (no longer) then rinse again and pat dry. Continue with your seasoning and cook. It will be tender!
I’ve had the same problem of inconsistent cube steak! Thank you for posting this video. I’m so anxious to try this. I’ll let you know what my husband thinks! Huge hugs from Hawaii ☀️🏝️🌺🥰
Will try this Saturday for sure❤️
Perfect, I learned this the hard way, and I was much older than you when it happened for me, unfortunately. This is a favorite meal with my boys too!
I need to try this! I have not made it this way before and it looks so good!! By the way, I love your apron!
I made your cube steaks today, they were awesome!
I'm going to try this because I'm a hit and miss person also. 🌻🐕🥰
I usually cut the big pieces in to 2 or 3 pieces it helps
Leslie, my mom made this only with brown gravy instead of milk gravy and placed in her roaster and made it like Swiss Steak and served with mashed potatoes and green beans for our local Lions Club, and her home made butterscotch pie for desert. The meal was a huge success.
Looks so delicious and I Love Love Love cube steak n gravy!
My favorite meal too. Fixed this way also ❤
Will definitely try making it this way.
Oh my goodness, that looked soooooo good. Cube steak in the crockpot is the bomb. I fix mine with 1 can crm of chk soup, 1can of water and 1 too 2 pks of onion gravy mix and it is delicious. Oh, and also 1 can of milk.
I definitely struggle with the same thing happening to my fried cubed steak.... I will definitely be doing this recipe!! I know this is PB's favorite 😍 meal... so glad that the family enjoyed it! 😉
I love bread cube steak. Decades ago they always were tender but now a days it is hit or miss. I think it’s the meat and how it was raise.
Love seeing your family... Our favorite is steak and gravy also.. we like it cooked in a milk gravy though. Cook it low and slow in the crockpot and it's so tender. If I'm just frying it and having the gravy separate, I look for thinner pieces with no white fat running through it. The white fat is what makes it tough as shoe leather lol.
It Does Look Delicious!! I get the cubed steak at the grocery store.. & Season it with S/P & Garlic salt!! Then flour & quick fry. I usually make about 8pcs. After every batch.. I go ahead & make the gravy (with the bits).. use the flour & Whisk it & pour in Water..to deglaze.. then Half n Half.. mixing well until it starts to thicken. Pour that batch of Gravy over the first 4 pieces in the casserole.. Fry the other 4.. make gravy & save some for the mashed potatoes (or rice..which my son likes best).. Slow Bake @ 325* -1 to 1 & 1/2 hrs. Covered..& serve with String beans-Corn (cut off the Cobb)..& mixed. cranberry Sauce & Hot Rolls!! It’s SO YUM!!… We All enjoy this Dish!
Thank you for Sharing Your Recipe!!💓💓🙏🙏🙌🙌🥰👍👍🤗😋
sounds delicious!
What a delicious family meal.. I learned from my Mom using an electric skillet but cock pots make it nicer.. Let me know if you made the apple pie. I have 2 cans trying to figure out what I want to make with it.
My goodness! I could slurp that gravy right out of the pan! Yummy! 😋
I have fried cube steaks, pork chops, chicken, chicken fried steak this way for years, but finish on a rack in the oven to finish cooking. While the meat finishes I make the gravy, potatoes and a veggie.
It looks delicious!! I think everyone thinks it's a winner. 🙂
Congratulations on your subscription members.
Wow, that does look delicious! Meat with gravy is always a favorite of mine. Will definitely be making this soon! Thanks, girl!😊
Absolutely love love your hair.. looks fabulous 👌 👏 👍 😍
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving
It’s been a while since I’ve watched. You look great! So much younger.
Aldies has lowered the price of food for the month of November for Thanksgiving. Also Walmart lowered some of their prices to. Kroger's has turkey on sale for.49 cent's a pound
I’m from the south We brown our steak and then put in oven but we make gravy with milk and it is do good
