- We take our first look at this wireless thermal printer by brother, the TD4550DNWB also known as the TD4D. This thermal label printer is cheaper than some of the prices I have seen for the QL1110NWB (3rd party sellers mark up to $500+) I have had no problem setting it up with all apple devices supporting airprint. Yes this label printer will work with your iphone, ipad, macbook, windows computer (I have been having trouble getting it to work on android). It takes non proprietary labels and has 300 dpi resolution. It will print 4x6 shipping labels for ebay, etsy, shopify, amazon, pirate ship, and many more!

Darn you, now I want this one! Already have A ZP450, a Rollo, one of the MFLabel units.
Its a good one to add into the collection! The only issue I'm having with it right now is printing to it from an android device, definitely didn't expect incompatibility there.
Brother is pricey, but my laser jet Brother has always been a great printer. Cool stuff

Yes. You can print smaller labels.
I have this printer... I noticed that it doesn't work with the Mac version of the Brother P-touch label editor software. But you can still print stuff to it. (Like 4x6 shipping labels)

Dude, I can not find a single QL1110NWB in stock in the UK. WTF is going on, I don't understand why this is. Anyway. Have you done a comparison video yet? Is the ONLY difference being you can use cheaper non-proprietary (non-Brother) labels? For the £200 extra investment, that's a lot of 6x4 labels to print to see that £200 difference back, no? Plus, that huge power brick to hide!... urghhhh.

Yeah it's hard to find 😢. It also doesn't work with Android which was really unexpected. You may be able to get free 4x6 label rolls from royal mail, I think it's around 9000 labels for break even cost. I may have to look at the math again but that is what I think it was.

Yeah it should. Any DT labels should work fine, with some exeptions for very small labels.
Eric, can you print standard address labels with this machine and can you confirm its Mac (imac) compatible. Brothers website is not super clear on this. My thanks for all your great work!!
Yeah that would work and it will work with any airprint compatible mac as long as you can get it on the network. If you are just doing address labels though there are much cheaper options out there.

TD-4D better points than QL-1110NWB is TD4D can use "all other brand or non-brand label" am I right?
The reason I don't buy QL-1110NWB because it is needed to use only Brother label.

Hey, I was wondering Brother say that the additional tray (LT-6500) that works with their HL-L5100DN doesn’t work with the HL-L5050DN.
Do you think it is a hardware limitation or a software one?

Hi, do you know if this printer comes with an automatic cutter by default? Or do you have to separately buy a cutting unit?
This does not have the cutter, that is an add on.

Normally, in warehouses, these printers just sit on a shelf, and the label backing will just fall down behind or so and they will just take the label off and slap to the box. It would be to messy to have every single label get cut off, thats probably why its a addon.

Are you kidding me? I literally just purchased the wireless QB one 7 days ago. I didn’t know Brother had another wireless one. So the only difference is you can use other brand labels on the $500 one?
Well mostly yes. May sounduseless but non proprietary labels could save you a bunch of money.
It has a screen menu also, and is more industrially built.
Why doesn't the US version of this printer ship with a CR2032 battery! You neglected to speak about the installation of the button cell battery.... I suspect if you don't use the dry cell battery you loose all your settings if you unplug the mains power supply.
I wasn't aware of this I'll have to investigate mine when I get home. I bought it secondhand so maybe they installed a battery?
@@thecollegepicker Flip the printer bottom side up and remove the two silver flat screws closest to the label output slot side. Remove the plastic housing to access the obvious batter slot. I purchased a new machine and it had a service notice paper that is the only way I learned this and was shocked they didn't specify the battery size but I'm 98% certain its the standard CR2032 3V lithium. Funny thing is they ship the printer to Europe with a batter installed with a pull tape around the battery so it does't get used until the customer removes the plastic tape. Looks like the Japan units come with the auto cutter. US, Canada and other come with no battery or auto cutter.
Yup I confirmed there is a coin battery slot. I checked the manual, bought the coin cell battery and put it in. The printer no longer “forgets” its settings once power is unplugged!
