- General Eric M. Smith, Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps, was the guest speaker at the 2022 Installations and Logistics Awards Dinner where he spoke about the standard set by Travis Mannion, the importance and complexity of Marine Corps Logistics, and how logistics problems and solutions will drive the Marine Corp's ability to compete with pacing threats, such as China, in the future. He points to the shortcomings of Russia's logistics in their 5 pronged attack on Ukraine as an overwhelming, nuclear armed power against Ukrainian grit and determination.
General Smith: Logistics is the ascending function in the MAGTF

I see a future Commadant of the USMC, not just dry communication, but well spoken, knowledgeable and proud to know Our USMC is in an excellent Warrior.
