- Beekeeping near the Suwannee River in south Georgia, feeding bees, south Georgia native nectar sources, and more details on preparing colonies for almond pollination with Georgia commercial beekeeper Barry Hart. Part 2 of 3
Great video. Lots.of hard work there. Your friend's persistent dry cough is a bit of concern. Hopefully it's nothing.
He thinks it is allergies and he may be right. I started coughing when I was there.
Hope it is just allergies, I ended up getting sick with that persistent cough that won't go away. Took a toll on getting out to the bee yards. Looks like a very early Spring here in PA.

Might need to eat more honey. 🤔
Sure didn’t like his last words when you mentioned using timbers to stack hives on “well down here we got rattle snakes”. Great video
Ive got rattlers where my hives are located .Never been a problem but i almost always have knee boots on just for a little insurance.
Great video Bob. I liked the history of the swamp logging.
I could (and sometimes do) happily watch your videos all day Bob. What a great accumulation of information.
Watching these videos with Mr. Hart makes me realize how much I have to learn about honeybees. Can't wait for part three. Thanks again Bob, the generosity you and other commercial bee keepers show in sharing this knowledge is amazing.
I love that part of the country. Thanks for sharing the walk around and sharing our beautiful and bee operation.
Hi Bob, what a wonderful and peaceful location on the Swanee River. Thank you for sharing the great video.
Sunday morning coffee on the Swanee river, huh never know where life will take you…😊
Ty bob, this is awesome to watch.i cant wait for part 3!
Thanks for sharing your time with us Bob and Barry.
That looks like gorgeous country this time of year but I’m glad I live in the Tennessee mountains in the summer 😁
Also I like that you’re showing us beekeepers that I probably wouldn’t hear of or learn from otherwise.
Very interesting.Thats a whole lot of work involved for moving that many bees that far.I guess watching this gave me a little more confidence i only have to move a couple hives 20 miles.
Thanks always for posting Bob!
Very interesting stuff there Bob. Y'all mentioned the tupelo trees. I am diabetic and it doesn't affect my diabetes.I really enjoy it. .
I've been told that by several people.
Always a great video thanks for sharing
I’ve never been down south beautiful and very interesting terrain. Thanks for sharing .
Great video as always Bob!
😂about when you were saying how beautiful the property on the river was, I thought”wonder what it’s like in the summer?” Very few places are idyllic year round, there’s always a trade off.
A+++ Looking forward to Part 3
Same kind of sugar I'm using up here, bees seem to like it and I love the price.

I grew up on Orange Blossom honey and now there aren't enough oranges. Very sad
Orange Blossom Honey is my favorite❤
❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for the video of how many bee families he has ?
4500 colonies.
@@bobbinnie9872 thank you. Please tell me how many beekeepers serve 4,500 bee colonies ?
Many@@user-vs6bk6ff7x
Enjoying the vedios , what was that about a rattle snake ?
Stay tuned for part three. 😳
Very interesting! How many hives does he run?
Currently 4500.
Good Morning Bob !
Good morning sir!
When mixing corn syrup, do you use same ratio as sugar?
I'm not sure of the ratio he uses. I would probably a little water to the corn syrup.
What does The Chinese Tallow Tree do to honey? Make it bitter? We recently bought a decent sized property in N FL zoned Ag. It was overgrown and left fallow for awhile. There were lots of Chinese Tallow trees growing wild that we have been taking out. I notice the bees do love those flowers.
Whether the taste of Chinese Tallow is bad or not really comes down to personal opinion. I don't like it but I know that many people do.
@@bobbinnie9872 Thank you.
So what is the spray they are putting on in between the hives after they blew the hives clean?
Mavrick. It's has the same active ingredient, fluvalinate, that is in Apistan strips which are used for varroa mites.
@@bobbinnie9872 Varroa has resistance to fluvalinade. Maverick or mavrik in Greece is illegal because the previous years beekeepers used to spray in the hive. Is it effective spraying outside of the hive? Nice vid as always, thank you!
I have assume that it works or he probably wouldn't be using it.@@menelaos8994
👏🤗👍💝
What and where do you find reclaim sugar??
I'm not sure where he is getting it.
10K supers?! That's insane.
That wasn't all of them!
Does the brown Suwannee water affect the color/taste of your honey?
Not that I'm aware of.
Do you know of any beekeepers that have kept Bees in the Ocala national Forest by chance?
I personally do not.
Hey Bob any ideal where Barry sells his honey to the public I live west of him in Brooks County I have had your honey really liked the Sourwood.
I don't know. I do know that the vast majority is sold wholesale in drums.
Barry said everything was 3/4. Is that a unique size?
They're somewhat unique. You can purchase parts for that size from Mann Lake and Dadant.
I have? Yellow honey cristalizat it is a clover honey? Thank you!
Being yellow it could be many different honeys.
Hello sir, I have a request if you could take me for a season to learn something I am a small beekeeper from the Czech Republic.
y como llegan esos tambores argentinos a ahi
?
They are recycled and come from honey importers.
Beautiful scenery
Oh my whats pepper honey like ?? Is it hot??
I never knew Suwannee was spelled that way .
We found ant pellets they haul them home and it eliminates their nest .
Our snow snakes only come out in the winter and are hard to see all you see is their little black eyes 👀 and black tongues 👅. 😮😮😮😮😮😅
Very interesting .great videos 📹.
Thanks
Brazilian pepper honey is not spicy or hot but in my view it doesn't have a very good flavor. Some people like it though. That's the most common spelling but you'll also see it with one n.
Hey old man, are the nucs at the end of the video 6+6 or 5+6? it has no economic value for me, but trying to understand the "bug" is an obsession, I know you understand.
The hives at the end are in eight frame boxes.
Hello, how are you all? I am looking for a job. I have great experience in this field
hi bob chalk in bees, how do you cure lime disease this disease has ruined my bees thank you
I'm not familiar lime disease in bees. Chalk brood disease is not hard to stop with the right bees. Some bees are overly susceptible to it and some are not. I used to see it occasionally but with the bees we have now I never see it.
My bees are in the Caucasus mountains and it rains a lot here, so I think it's happening, well, you know what I recommend for the treatment of this, I used antibiotics, the disease did not go away.i stuck the bees, it didn't go away again, is there a treatment method that you would recommend?
I'm not sure what to recommend. I've never had it so bad that it wouldn't go away. Perhaps try requeening. I wish you good luck.
He's not talking about stealing logs, those logs sank 100+ years ago and have been sitting on the bottom waiting on him.
When he mentioned "ax cut" I figured that was the case.
I hope you're doing good, Mr Binnie. I have my name on your waiting list in case somebody doesn't show up for their pre ordered nuc!
I caught a wild swarm last spring and they took off and left me in the fall. Haha! I got too busy harvesting corn and cotton, and didn't check on them for over a month so I'm not sure what went wrong. At least I got a couple gallons of honey off them though! I have truly enjoyed your videos. I've learned so much from you and what little experience I've had that I want to try again and do better this time.

I wonder if he ever had problems with pigs destroying his bee colonies?
Probably not. I've had hives around wild pig populations with little trouble.
