Problem solving , including Data Structures and Algorithm , can be improved , even when doing development. For that Competitive Programming is not a must thing. In development , one can actually learn the real world applications of the data structures and algorithms . CP doesn't teach you the WHY of using any DSA, which can be learned in Development.

Just one thing no can learn development in 1 week or 1 month. Just try figuring out the framework level development (React or Flutter) or core blockchain and hyperledger. U will get the taste. Don't get me wrong dsa is important first of all solve 100 questions from each topic , this will take less time. Learning development is life long. Explore everything
I always thought cp was waste of time and is a bad metric as you won't be using it anywhere else. But I was wrong, once I started seeing the development codes of people weak in DSA, their codes were so bad. DSA is important and certain amount of cp is required for knowing how to apply those DSA concepts

I studied Mechanical Engg at an Nit and "somehow" becoz of my convincing communication skills "may be" I got placed at a prestigious IT Firm as an IT Consultant though I was clueless about coding. I have been working here for over an year and now I believe I am starting liking the work and stuff but the problem is I am still not able to figure out how to proceed further .. Should I be doing competitive or development ? I am not someone who has years to devote to study😅😅; Can you do a video or reply for people like us grads switching from non coding branches into IT. How should they work on themselves to be industrial efficient and good enough to crack interviews of bigger mncs .
For development you should follow project based learning, wherein you start working on a project and learn new concepts according to the requirement of project
1) Nothing is easy it's upto you what you actually want to do or where you actually want to work. 2) To practice development build projects that you can use for yourself or your friends, etc. Try to clone other websites and apps all by yourself.
