I really don't understand why a lot of people get mad at Korra for not wanting to fight Kuvira. The only thing that Korra knows about Kuvira for sure is the fact that she was one of the guard captains in Zaofu and saved her father from certain death, and having the poison in her and not fighting for 3 years certainly doesn't make Korra want to fight a metalbending master in her prime. And those people that want Korra to fight without talking are the same people that were annoyed when Korra rushed into things and always wanted to fight in the earlier seasons. Like, this is a huge moment of growth for Korra and the only thing these people want to do is to see is Korra going in guns blazing when she's still clearly very affected by everything that has happened to her.

Hell nah zuko confronting his father definitely needs to be up there I’d say above iron forgiving him. Iroh said himself he was never mad in the first place. Plus one it was Satisfying to see zuko finally get rid of the shackles that had been holding him down for so long and two it was a long time coming built up over three seasons .
I think Korra was also negotiating based off her prior and limited experience with Kuvira. Remember, as far as Korra really knows, this is the woman who fought the Red Lotus with her *AND* saved her dad. Props to her for at least trying to avoid a fight, knowing her weakened state while she is in the process of recovering still and how she's matured. Obviously its a bad plan but she wasn't really playing with a full deck of info

Interesting perspective. And anyways, thinking about it... what was Korra to do, immediately threaten Kuvira? Extending a truce while you negotiate with both sides for a compromise that works to eliminate war is like the best diplomatic outcome in the moment. Kuvira wasn't going to back down with only one speech. Also, I admire Kora for TRULY hearing out everyone's side of the story. Immediately taking sides and rushing to violence isn't actually the Avatar way. We may be frustrated because we are the omniscient audience - she's truly seeking balance

I see a lot of people who watch season 4 complain about Bolin not figuring out Kuvira is the bad guy sooner but I think there is something they don’t consider. Bolin likes helping people (it’s like one of the pillars of his character) and he’s spent the last three years in a position where he genuinely feels like he’s brought positive change to potentially millions of people. I have feeling he had a suspicion that Kuvira was bad news (which makes sense if you analyze the facial expressions he makes during the Coronation episode) but kept trying to reassure himself that she wasn’t. He probably did this because if the harsh realities about Kuvira were true, that would mean that not only was he not helping people; but that he partially contributed to people suffering. Something like that would crush him. Sometimes people don’t believe something because they don’t want to believe it.
I totally agree, but here is a thing. I don't think Kuvira was that bad at first. Despite the fact that at the end she took over earth empire as a dictator doesn't change the fact that she did a lot of good before it, which Bolin obviously saw and was the part of. I still think that uniting earth kingdom was good in place of anarchy where bandits were the rulers. I also don't think that you can deal with riots by politely asking people to stop, so I would say that for a long time Bolin wasn't wrong about Kuvira, because she was doing good (for me if she didn't have such strong need for geting so much power, earth nation could have benefit from her as a ruler - obviously she was caring more about her people than previous monarchs) and he could easily miss the point when she has overdone it, so I would say differently that he recognised it quite fast, considering that he is not the rocket scientist (I still love him but that's kind of a fact).

Too many viewers are looking at things from the broad picture, we get to see everything, but Bolin only sees what is in front of him and that is all of the great things Kuvira has accomplished. Also I find Suyin as an extremely selfish individual who only has misgivings now that Zaofu is threatened. If she saw Kuvira's actions as bad why has she not stepped up and try to become a leader? She is extremely wealthy so why hasn't she helped?
It's Kuvira's fault for showing him only the positive side of things. People complain about Bolin being stupid and not noticing, but how can he, when Kuvira purposely made him work in giving out resources and gave him the pacific tasks. He doesn't see what we see and he actually did good things for people for 3 years. Also, before going off on Bolin, Kuvira has always been patient with him, while always imposing and threatening to others, it's like he knew a completely different her and maybe there's a possibility that she was like that before. I knew that he would have taken the right side eventually, so I really didn't mind.

Imagine her just attacking Kuvira. That plays right into Kuvira's hands when she says, "See, the 1%'ers do not want our kingdom to unite". Viewers keep forgetting, to the common Earth Nation citizen she has done great things and has united the nation.

Can we all just appreciate how development Korra, she tried to talk to her before going by head on. She only lost due to her recovery and her PTSD and the fact that kuvira saved her father is just overwhelming for korra..
When Kuvira motivated as to why Su should lead the forces to stabilize the earth kingdom, it echoes Sozin's motivation to begin the 100-year war, that being "Our part of the world is a beacon of prosperity, we should share it with the rest". It really is a subtle way of showing how things repeat themselves in new forms
Finally, some Asami story. . . I personally think she could have her own spin-off. It could tell the story of how her father became a successful business man, the feelings about her mother's tragic death, her father's betrayal and attempt to murder her, the desastrous love triangle, the 3 years. . . Most importantly, how did she become such a mature person, after all she's gone through??

"Azula Alone" between The Search and Smoke and Shadows (or after Smoke and Shadows), for example. Or "Suyin Alone", detailing her life between her being banished from Republic City and her founding Zaofu.

This is such an importante episode for Asami character development, and a little korrasami easteregg when Asami is feeling anxious and sad after seeing her father, she goes to the newly named Avatar Korra park to think it through, which is something I believe she started doing in the time Korra’s been gone to feel closer to her! Congratulations on the graduation guys!!
Agree! I had also a theory that Asami was the one behind the Korra park because she was one of the people that redesigned the Republic City during the time when Korra was still healing in the South pole.
Kuvira saying that they needed to share their amazing wealth and progress with the rest of the world is exactly what fire lord Sozin said to Roku before he started the war
I think you’re the first reactor I’ve seen that noticed that the spirit vine energy explosion made the same sound as Vaatu’s spirit beam. I think they have the same energy source because Vaatu made the vines.
I have seen this show through several times but watching them and the comments I never realized the villain pilot episode of the season thing or the same energy laser before. I'm learning new stuff just watching them watch it. Even tho I've seen Korra like 7 times

It can be argued that Asami deciding to try the difficult path of forgiving her father isn't really a moment of personal growth for her. She's always been compassionate and forgiving, and to quite an amazing extent as well. In the end it took her a few years to actually confront Hiroshi, but I think it's pretty reasonable to distance yourself from someone who actually attempted to murder you.
I like scenes with Zhu Li and Baatar Jr. because both of their voice actors are in a lot of anime. Stephanie Sheh basically wrote the book on playing the love interest to the main character (She’s Hinata from Naruto and Orihime from Bleach) and Todd Haberkorn is a popularity king with characters like Death the Kid from Soul Eater and Natsu Dragneel from Fairy Tail
Kenny, I don't know how much Montana would be into it, but you should definitely watch Invincible on Amazon Prime Video if you haven't already. I don't expect a reaction series as you've already set in stone the options for your next reactions (it would be cool to maybe have a discussion livestream after you've finished it though). I'm not going to defend Kuvira's actions...BUUUUT I'm also baffled by Suyin's overall attitude . I understand why she didn't want to seize power for herself,but is she really suprised that someone had to do something? She created a monster and now her response is "Hello Korra,could you come and beat Kuvira's army?" And don't get me wrong,it's written very consistently; that's the same Su who never really apologize to her sister and went "I was young,let's move on"
Su wanted to hide in her city and pretend she didn’t owe the world anything. Some Earth Kingdom citizens feel a sense of nationalism and some don’t. Su felt it wasn’t her problem, Kuvira saw her nation weeping and bleeding in the dirt. Su could have liberated the Earth Kingdom, Hans control back to the provinces after getting their security forces back on their feet etc. Her solution to simply eradicate Kuvira and her army (loss of life) is Su trying to bury her problems and not think about her role in it.
@@mathies3598 I don't even mean Kuvira herself. If not Kuvira, then someone else would have to take charge (unless we let the Earth Kingdom burn to the ground sooner or later). That's why Reiko and Tenzin ask for Suyin's help-she's arguably the one person (except Korra of course) who could resolved this situation without unnecessary violence and terror
@@dominikhaba695 but she still didn't create the person who ended up bringing order to the earthkingdom. She only refused to do it herself, , but mind you Raiko and Tenzin also didn't bother to look for better alternatives after Su, they just settled with Kuvira for some weird reason.
To Answer Montana's Question-How did they let her get this much power: She stepped up when the Earth Kingdom was in disarray so the world leaders basically gave her any resources she needed anything else she wanted she took (mostly the money from villages who she forced to join the Earth empire)
Suyin really should have stepped in to help Ba Sing Se. People were dying and needed her help, but she did nothing. I feel she didn't get called out enough for her inaction.

Kuvira has good intentions. she has a right to be mad that Suyin didn't want to help them. Su has all the resources to help them and chose not to, hoarding their resources. Obviously kuvira is out of balance when she forces people to serve her and that's what makes her a villain but her motivation is good

Last season felt like Kuvira was like a daughter to Suyin. There’s not enough information on Kuvira that we know about to really explain why Kuvira takes this so hard. The scenes are so quick and there’s not enough context to them. I get what they’re trying to do with Kuvira, but it didn’t work since we didn’t know Kuvira in book 3 to explain the sudden shift here to make sense. I don’t blame Suyin for saying no, because it is kinda similar to Sozin’s plan in a much smaller scale.
And this is another Nick's side to blame. They literally cut off budget at last minutes that is enough for whole episode which is for episode 8 (if I'm not wrong) that was supposed to be an episode for kuvira alone just like episode korra alone. You'll know when you watch episode 8. (This was stated by the creators themselves). The creators are capable to make a good perfect story line for LOK as much as ATLA if it weren't for the third parties kept interfering and ruining their show just like what they did to korrasami and a lot of other things. But fortunately, kuvira got her story in the comics along with korrasami of course.

Kuvira was not wrong in this situation. Zaofu is a city of the Earth Empire and should answer to the central government. Like it or not Kuvira is the central government therefore she has every right to establish control over the city. Zaofu has been in an act of rebellion even when the Queen was still alive. You can't just build a city in a nation's land and declare yourself independent just because you want to.

Can we all just appreciate how development Korra, she tried to talk to her before going by head on. She only lost due to her recovery and her PTSD and the fact that kuvira saved her father is just overwhelming for korra..
When Kuvira motivated as to why Su should lead the forces to stabilize the earth kingdom, it echoes Sozin's motivation to begin the 100-year war, that being "Our part of the world is a beacon of prosperity, we should share it with the rest". It really is a subtle way of showing how things repeat themselves in new forms
Yeah and instead of the comet it was a BUNCH of new technological innovation

It could tell the story of how her father became a successful business man, the feelings about her mother's tragic death, her father's betrayal and attempt to murder her, the desastrous love triangle, the 3 years. . . Most importantly, how did she become such a mature person, after all she's gone through??

"Azula Alone" between The Search and Smoke and Shadows (or after Smoke and Shadows), for example. Or "Suyin Alone", detailing her life between her being banished from Republic City and her founding Zaofu.

This is such an importante episode for Asami character development, and a little korrasami easteregg when Asami is feeling anxious and sad after seeing her father, she goes to the newly named Avatar Korra park to think it through, which is something I believe she started doing in the time Korra’s been gone to feel closer to her! Congratulations on the graduation guys!!
Agree! I had also a theory that Asami was the one behind the Korra park because she was one of the people that redesigned the Republic City during the time when Korra was still healing in the South pole.

I think you’re the first reactor I’ve seen that noticed that the spirit vine energy explosion made the same sound as Vaatu’s spirit beam. I think they have the same energy source because Vaatu made the vines.
I have seen this show through several times but watching them and the comments I never realized the villain pilot episode of the season thing or the same energy laser before. I'm learning new stuff just watching them watch it. Even tho I've seen Korra like 7 times

It can be argued that Asami deciding to try the difficult path of forgiving her father isn't really a moment of personal growth for her. She's always been compassionate and forgiving, and to quite an amazing extent as well. In the end it took her a few years to actually confront Hiroshi, but I think it's pretty reasonable to distance yourself from someone who actually attempted to murder you.

I like scenes with Zhu Li and Baatar Jr. because both of their voice actors are in a lot of anime. Stephanie Sheh basically wrote the book on playing the love interest to the main character (She’s Hinata from Naruto and Orihime from Bleach) and Todd Haberkorn is a popularity king with characters like Death the Kid from Soul Eater and Natsu Dragneel from Fairy Tail

Kenny, I don't know how much Montana would be into it, but you should definitely watch Invincible on Amazon Prime Video if you haven't already. I don't expect a reaction series as you've already set in stone the options for your next reactions (it would be cool to maybe have a discussion livestream after you've finished it though). It has a lot of gore; however, it's one of my favorite super hero shows ever.

I'm not going to defend Kuvira's actions...BUUUUT
I'm also baffled by Suyin's overall attitude . I understand why she didn't want to seize power for herself,but is she really suprised that someone had to do something? She created a monster and now her response is "Hello Korra,could you come and beat Kuvira's army?"
And don't get me wrong,it's written very consistently; that's the same Su who never really apologize to her sister and went "I was young,let's move on"
Su wanted to hide in her city and pretend she didn’t owe the world anything. Some Earth Kingdom citizens feel a sense of nationalism and some don’t. Su felt it wasn’t her problem, Kuvira saw her nation weeping and bleeding in the dirt. Su could have liberated the Earth Kingdom, Hans control back to the provinces after getting their security forces back on their feet etc.
Her solution to simply eradicate Kuvira and her army (loss of life) is Su trying to bury her problems and not think about her role in it.
Well i mean it's not like she created Kuvira though lol. I see what you're saying tho
@@mathies3598 I don't even mean Kuvira herself. If not Kuvira, then someone else would have to take charge (unless we let the Earth Kingdom burn to the ground sooner or later). That's why Reiko and Tenzin ask for Suyin's help-she's arguably the one person (except Korra of course) who could resolved this situation without unnecessary violence and terror
@@dominikhaba695 but she still didn't create the person who ended up bringing order to the earthkingdom. She only refused to do it herself, , but mind you Raiko and Tenzin also didn't bother to look for better alternatives after Su, they just settled with Kuvira for some weird reason.
Su did apologise to Lin.. lol after their fight and she was right, she was a young teenager that wanted attention.
Regardless of the outcome, Zhu Li's rant was completely true, like everything she said about Varrick was spot on.

To Answer Montana's Question-How did they let her get this much power: She stepped up when the Earth Kingdom was in disarray so the world leaders basically gave her any resources she needed anything else she wanted she took (mostly the money from villages who she forced to join the Earth empire)
This whole season so far has just been enlightening on how domination turns Montana on.
Suyin really should have stepped in to help Ba Sing Se. People were dying and needed her help, but she did nothing. I feel she didn't get called out enough for her inaction.
If she was afraid of looking like a conqueror she could have probably had is tenzin or lin help her

Kuvira has good intentions. she has a right to be mad that Suyin didn't want to help them. Su has all the resources to help them and chose not to, hoarding their resources. Obviously kuvira is out of balance when she forces people to serve her and that's what makes her a villain but her motivation is good

Last season felt like Kuvira was like a daughter to Suyin. There’s not enough information on Kuvira that we know about to really explain why Kuvira takes this so hard. The scenes are so quick and there’s not enough context to them. I get what they’re trying to do with Kuvira, but it didn’t work since we didn’t know Kuvira in book 3 to explain the sudden shift here to make sense. I don’t blame Suyin for saying no, because it is kinda similar to Sozin’s plan in a much smaller scale.
And this is another Nick's side to blame. They literally cut off budget at last minutes that is enough for whole episode which is for episode 8 (if I'm not wrong) that was supposed to be an episode for kuvira alone just like episode korra alone. You'll know when you watch episode 8. (This was stated by the creators themselves). The creators are capable to make a good perfect story line for LOK as much as ATLA if it weren't for the third parties kept interfering and ruining their show just like what they did to korrasami and a lot of other things. But fortunately, kuvira got her story in the comics along with korrasami of course.

This beam indeed sounds like Vaatu's and it makes sense. The beam Varric caused came from a spirit vein which was created by Vaatu.

the people that trashed korra for being too hotheaded and too aggressive are hating on her for not wanting to fight kuvira immediately, like make it make sense🚶🏻♀️ all she knew was that kuvira saved her dad and that she was a guard a zaofu, ofc she’s not gonna crush her as the very first thing. also, korra‘s journey was all about learning more about being reasonable and compassionate, so why should she jump in a fight after 3 years of suffering right away

Kuvira was not wrong in this situation. Zaofu is a city of the Earth Empire and should answer to the central government. Like it or not Kuvira is the central government therefore she has every right to establish control over the city. Zaofu has been in an act of rebellion even when the Queen was still alive. You can't just build a city in a nation's land and declare yourself independent just because you want to.
I think this simply shows how broken the old Earth Kingdom was with so many cities basically ignoring the central government.
