Matti and Teppo, I just wanted to reach out and sincerely thank you. Your FPV videos light up my day and you guys were the ones who got me into such a unique hobby! I'm building up my portfolio and am already shooting gigs for golf courses, farms, and hopefully my local amusement park someday. I love that im not the only one who sees the future potential FPV has on the filmmaking world. -Stephen
These two can create their own Podcast called Hapooja brothers Podcast and just talk about anything and everything. I ll watch / listen to each and every episode
I don't get many views on a lot of my videos but picturing a room full of that many people makes the numbers seem way better. Even better is getting messages from people that say a video you made helped them with a project.
pure motivation in your podcasts, love them. Just listening to them one after another... great, and thanks for inspiring small/new youtubers to work their way up.. we just started and man, this is pure motivation :)
As a small creator these conversations are amazing. So much information to act on, thank you! I've been at it for 8 years and hope I'm not one of those that aren't leaning from my mistakes. I hope my latest video is exponentially better than my first. Making my 100th video now, let it be a 1 out of 10!
Great video, guys. Listened to it while laboring in Premiere Pro. Your message added some much-needed wind to my sails. Thank you. There are two primary joys in life; 1). Growing. 2). Giving. -Tony Robbins
We also have another babba on the way and it's genuinely inspiring watching you guys pitch up for both your families and also your channels. All the best with the new addition to your family, Teppo. Loved the tip on pitching longer shelf life to companies and even though my channel is waaaay smaller, my goal is to also stay consistent :) I've taken loads of notes from this, I feel very mentored, haha. Thanks, guys!
I’ll be honest…I’m still not sure how Teppo went full-time on TH-cam with 80K subs. Still scratching my head…maybe because I live in there me of the most expensive parts of the country (NJ USA 🇺🇸). Keep up great work guys. It’s the positive energy you guys keep that keeps me watching. Personally, I stay clear of any content built around negativity or drama. 😎
Loved hearing both of your perspective on what it means to go full time on YT. I especially loved how honest you both were on the challenges you go through even at your high sub count. Great podcast, Matti. Really enjoying this new podcast.
Awesome episode again! You Haapoja Bros are super!! Always such a positive energy 🙏🏻🙏🏻 And thank you so much for sharing these things! It's been very helpful for us as a starting channel. If there's any chance to get on that mentoring program, we'll be very interested! 😎✌️ ✨
This episode is brilliant! Just in the middle of making my second vlog and already thinking 'this is going to suck', but who cares right? Got to start somewhere!
Guys. Gold. Matti, right when you said "you do this thing half a$$, and this thing half a$$", I could not relate more. I have more equipment that is up-to-date in my city to film high-end productions, but little time to utilize it for creativity due to my full-time job and many side hustles. Thank you for clarifying this obvious, but very real hindrance. Forego some of these life hustles in order to focus on creating interesting content. It's something we know to be true, but need to hear from other creative minds. Peace and blessings to you and Teppo!
Man I've been watching you guys since the beginning. Was always scared to start a channel and then I just said mess it and started. Turns out it wasn't scary at all and I should have started five years ago. I feel like anybody would get better over time if they take the time to analyze their own videos and look at them critically. Love the podcast 👌
I took Casey’s class and it was great, learned a lot but after listening to you guys I would definitely pay to hear what you have to say as far as mentoring and starting out. I’m still struggling with it
I think the thinking was to shoot from the shadow side and let the light hit on the opposite side. For tight shots it looks amazing, for wide not so sure.
It was a bit tricky since we didnt have lights at all there other than the windows. But I never want to light straight on flat its much more "cinematic" and nice when the near side is darker with shadow and then the far side has light on it. Hope that made sense 😊
Is this an old video? I thought Teppo went back to Finland? I am 210k subs now but I’m still working in the industry I talk about. I think based on the average views you’d get at 80k subs, you’d need to live a simple life to be able to survive on that.
I am where Teppo was at. Fully loaded with weddings and other small projects, spread REALLY thin. I am all over the place and not moving forward and its extremely frustrating 😂 I want to TH-cam so bad but Im so swamped with keeping my head above the water. Even just moving up in my own personal business projects isn't possible because of all the little things Im doing.
I am at the same point. I am putting my hands in so many areas. Maybe because I still don't understand how TH-cam's really earn money with TH-cam besides ads and affiliates.
Love the commentary on the "100 videos" rule. That advice has ALWAYS missed the most important part in my opinion, which is iterating. 100 crappy videos doesn't give you any information unless you're looking for it and testing.
Me sitting over here as a full-time caregiver for five kids who need me all day during the summer, trying to get just one video out while they are home 🤦♀️ The challenge is real.
Great podcast :) One thing though, making a 100 crappy videos and improving for each video is not mutually exclusive - starting at zero videos it’s possible to improve for each video and still suck in the larger perspective, but you’ll usually learn a lot more from making a 100 videos rather then just 10 videos in the same time. So the advice to just start, and create away, and not care about the quality, doesn’t mean «don’t work to improve», but it implies that you should do your best, even though they might suck, they will get better over time. And after you’ve made 300 videos, looking back at those first 100 they *will* probably suck as a whole, even though each one might be an improvement on the previous one
Probably my favorite episode so far, but I might be bias because I'm in the same boat, lol. 85K and all in full time TH-cam. Only difference is my kid is 14, so I need all the brand deals I can get just to keep up with his bottomless pit of a stomach and expensive taste in laptops and guitars... 😅😂 Seriously though, such good info in this one!
How do sponsors validate views of the sponsored adverts? It's one thing to validate views on a video, but I have to believe there is some percentage of viewers (small or large) that skips every advert and if the sponsor is the same on every video for weeks or months then the number of adverts skipped grows exponentially. There must be a number used to validate this info or the rate is so low that it doesn't matter.
Here is what I learned in this podcast. 👇👇👇 Teppo seems like a great guy to hang around with. He started his youtube channel around 2017 just like matti but never really prioritized the consistency to post more videos weekly. Before making it youtube full time at 79000 subscribers, he was working on Instagram deals, shooting wedding photography and other things that will push off the time to work on creating youtube videos for his channel because youtube was not reaching his financial needs and possibly other things as well. Matti asked why teppo never continued pursuing youtube and seems like teppo never really knows why he never pushed it maybe because he thought youtube was for kitten videos or some other videos (LOL). Throughout this podcast teppo and matti talk about very essential information to know for people who want to create youtube videos. In my opinion, matti knows what he is talking about and has one of the best mindsets i ever seen in the youtube world. Teppo explains that there is not only one source of income but many different kinds of incomes in youtube and explains that there are youtubers who do not use the "youtube description" to its fullest potential are missing out one some extra revenue. Matti explains that the description can bring hundreds of dollars coming from the experience which is another essential basic piece of information that every creator should know. Matti explains that not prioritizing your skills can slow your growth. He explains that focusing on 1 things is better than focusing on many other things. My example for this is, i want to get my FAA drone pilot certificate so what i should be doing is putting in more time to learn more about the charts, airspace etc because it will significantly increase my knowledge and pass my exam. Going back to the podcast, matti explains if you are the best for anything, if you have that one skill you are really good at and in my opinion, know how to do the basics of marketing yourself you can make a really good money. They both explain views can be very daunting especially when your personal videos are getting ranked 1/10 with 10 being the worst. They explain that this can be a very motivating and unmotivating concept that youtube has. They explain people who say "my video only has 20 views" are not really imagining/visualizing how much is 20 views. 20 people in the classroom. 1000 views is 1000 people in a stadium. With this mindset i believe it will keep you above the line away from sadness. Teppo explains that there are companies that are now seeing the power youtube and hiring youtubers/actors to be in there youtube videos, which in my opinion, is really good opportunity for someone who wants to be in the youtube world but work under a company. Matti sums up TH-cam like a broadcast tv and every channel is a different show. Teppo explains that when he started the full time on youtube he had a prepared step by step and after completing months later he didnt know what to do after which is a good behind the scenes insight. He explains that when creators get bored they bring something new in and teppo wants to stay consistent and not lead to the worst problem of all which is "burning out." Teppo eventually will bring new things in his channel after keeping the consistency for a year. If you didnt know like me, teppo is having a baby pretty soon so this can impactful for him in a bunch of good ways and bad ways anyways goodluck teppo this is a huge milestone man! congrats. Matti gave some dad advice for everyone saying that babies are easy in the beginning because all they do is eat, sleep and restroom but when they get 1 year older or 2 years older it gets harder because the kids want your attention all the time. Matti explains that when he hears people saying that "after watching mattis videos my life changed" and he cant really believe that it literally did. Matti says he wants to help future youtubers like me which is really good because he been doing it very years and is very successful! do it matti now! LOL! There is a very wholesome part where teppo acknowledges that matti loves helping people. "What benefits me, benefits you and what benefits you, benefits me." great mindset. Matti explains he hit his goal to a million subscribers and is not going to focus on to get that 10 million subscibers instead he will focus on helping the future generation of youtubers!! At the very end they talk about money and i think you should listen to that because it is very true and helpful. This podcast was great 9/10! hope to see more about the behind the scenes decision making, the feeling of filming in public and more personal obstacles that encountered when creating videos and pursuing youtube independently.
I like the avatar idea. Also, as a creator, I LOVE seeing that confetti pop off in a 1/10. Great chat, guys.

I also have a question Matti with relation to the cinema-tics! Why did you place the subjects against the light?
I think the thinking was to shoot from the shadow side and let the light hit on the opposite side. For tight shots it looks amazing, for wide not so sure.
