1/16/23 🧶 Thank you! I was given a Knit Picks swift & ball winder for Christmas. I just finished winding my first lovely, hand-dyed, twisted hank into a delightful cake! (A couple of adventures along the way.) Now, I have more confidence! 🥰🌻
Thanks for this video, Jennifer. I don't have a swift, but have had the ball winder for about 10 years now. I'm a pull-from-the-outside guy, so the cake doesn't collapse. And, if you want to work 2 strands at once, they never get tangled. Why the winder doesn't cost a thousand dollars, I have no idea, it's THAT terrific a gadget to have.
Thank you so much for your tutorial on using a yarn swift and yarn ball winder to wind hanks of yarn into beautiful yarn cakes. Your video is nice and detailed; anyone can learn to wind yarn after watching it. I have a ball winder but don't have a swift as yet. I plan on winding even yarn that's already available in skeins such as Red Heart Super Saver, etc. I think it will be much easier to store the yarn cakes (in protective plastic bags, of course ☺️), than the skeins. Thanks again for the tutorial. I have some skeins to wind and will probably wait to wind the hanks until I have a swift. I haven't decided yet between the umbrella style swift or the "Amish" style swift that uses pegs. We'll see. I love your channel and your blog! 🙂🙂
I just watched and subscribed to your channel for the first time and I love the friendly way you present the information. You're very thorough in your explanations.....thanks for the help and I'll be seeing more of your videos in future.
