  • Francine continues to grow and strengthen in the western Gulf, with a hurricane strike imminent tomorrow in Louisiana. Hurricane and storm surge warnings are posted, with impacts extending east all the way into western Florida. Tornadoes will also be a hazard east of the storm track tomorrow and Thursday. This video also covers the rest of the tropics.

I’m in St. Tammany parish…rocking and rolling again, we know the drill. Prayers and thoughts are always welcome…the nasty part is always after the storm when everyone is stuck on generators in 90 degree weather and scarce gasoline.
Let’s hope it’s moving fast and won’t spin off too many tornadoes.

I'm currently in New Orleans, above the French Quarter on the Esplanade Blvd Ridge,so I'm not so worried about flooding as it's the rain/ wind pounding.
Never count on the power in these here,Wednesday will be a wild ride for sure.
Had a feeling it was time when the Gulf blew up 2 days ago, about time for a sneaky one to pop up.
My biggest concern is any homeless people stuck outside in these.
If you're going to pray for someone, pray for them,no one deserves to go through one of these like that.

Tornadoes are extremely difficult to predict in landfalling hurricanes. There was a deadly EF-3 in North Carolina in the middle of the night when Tropical Storm Debby hit South Carolina. Going inland would help, especially to avoid storm surge, but I don't think you avoid the tornado threat.

How so? It's a hurricane now, and will continue strengthening overnight. I've been talking about this risk for the Gulf for over 10 days now. It's going to hit as a hurricane. Shifts left and right are common up until the final 12-24 hours, hence the cone.

Oh MY!!Not New Orleans. I get tired of how they worry so much about them and not the rest of the hit areas. Then they continue the lie a storm surge during katrina caused the flooding. They just will not admit a barge broke lose and damaged a levee that breoke and flooded N.O. not storm surge.

Did you not learn anything from Beryl? The storm was not forecast to directly hit Houston but yet millions got the eastern eyewall and lost power for days. Unfortunately the setup looks similar for New Orleans even though the official landfall point is 70-80 miles southwest. If you watched the video, you'd have learned that.
