I Remember the Cliff Lee HR, I was away in Virginia and I nearly fainted and when I told my friend Mark he was like was I kidding and I said I kid him Not.
The Phillies greeted Blanton on his HR like they would Ryan Howard like it was just another day at the office. LOL And fun fact, Rick Wise hit 2 home runs and threw a no hitter in that game. 6:50 Carlton's home run was in game 4 of the 1978 NLCS.
For part 2: Jeff Juden grand slam against the Dodgers (in the same game in which Gregg Jeffries hit for the cycle). Also, a few days earlier, Tyler Green hit a 3-run homer. When he came up to bat, the bases were loaded, but everyone moved up on a wild pitch. If it hadn't been for that WP, maybe the Phillies would have had two grand slams by pitchers that werk. I remember that Terry Mulholland's first career HR came against the Phillies, after they had traded him away, but I think he finally got one after he rejoined the team. I'm pretty sure that Tommy Greene hit some home runs, possibly one in the Phillies' first-ever game or series in Colorado.
4:19 Jair Jurrjens f*cks up a good HR call because one of his buddies was taken deep. This is why you don't let mush-for-brains players in the booth if they're going to root like a fan. Good call ruined by a dolt.
I told my then girlfriend that if a Phillies pitcher hit a home run during the 2008 playoffs I would go outside in December in just my underwear for 5 minutes. Thanks Joe Blanton.
So, I was at a game at the vet.....I think it was 81 or 82.......Carlton hit one into the bullpen off Valenzuela....and I am shocked it didn't make the cut. My guess is it may not have been televised.
This is really terrific. The Blanton dinger in the World Series will never be forgotten. But the Robert Person homers was an obscure and enjoyable moment in Phillies history - great find! Rick Wise's two homers in a game that he also tossed a no hitter was memorable ... and then he was traded in the offseason for ... Lefty. One person who deserves mention on this list is *Ken Brett* . Yes, the late brother of George Brett. Ken Brett hit home runs in 4 consecutive games he pitched from June 9 - 23, 1973.
Person just missed hitting another grand slam in that game, hitting a long foul that missed by about 5 feet.He is the only pitcher to have a slam and a three runner in the same game. Those were his only two hits of the season and of his career.
When Joe Blanton hit his home run in Game 4, I think that was when all Phillies fans knew that we were destined to win the World Series!
Fr
Dat gave me chills
The first Cliff Lee home run commentary kills me every time. Reminds me of Murph when he had to fill in to announce games lol
This is why I hate the DH. Moments like this won’t happen now.
It’s only this year
Me too!
Anna Hutchinson it’s only this year cause of the pandemic thn pitchers for the nl will hit again
From what I hear they want to make it. DH every year. Hope I am wrong.
@@AntonioRodriguez-lz1uq good
Two things. Thanks for putting the Robert Person one up, I haven't seen that is a LONG time. Two the Cole Hamels commercial at the end is hilarious!
Ah, the Robert Person game! Nice job finding footage.
That “Robert Person you are the man” really had me shook. Did Harry rip off that line?? Lol
I was at the game. A wild day indeed!
Ben Lively hit a Home run off Degrom 💀
I Remember the Cliff Lee HR, I was away in Virginia and I nearly fainted and when I told my friend Mark he was like was I kidding and I said I kid him Not.
Make an updated one with gibsons homerun
I was at the Eflin one (my first game in years) and I just remember watching it fly and reminding myself the pitcher just hit that.

Wish there were dates added but I’m not complaining. Thanks for the great video.
Ben Lively with 4 RBIs against deGrom dafuq?
The Last Pitcher to hit home run in the World Series.
Missed a few.. Lerch's 2 homeruns to clinch division in 78
Didn't Velazquez hit a homerun or two in 2019? Unless I missed it in the video

This made me smile!

you need to update this for known power hitter kyle gibson!
Yet the worst pitcher in the league this year
That Robert Person game was unreal.
Sadly we won't get to see pitchers smashing taters anymore. Damn you DH rule....
Larry Christenson was known to hit a dinger or 2 and Carlton used to hit a couple 3 a season.
Ahh, baseball without the pathetic DH is beautiful.
so glad that joe buck completely ruined the blanton moment
Phillies have had some pitchers with some pop!
I knew my man Robert Person would be on here!
the things extra time makes u search for lol
I don’t think it’s possible for a player to play a single game as well as Rick Wise did. No hitter and 2 homers. Damn
So, I was at a game at the vet.....I think it was 81 or 82.......Carlton hit one into the bullpen off Valenzuela....and I am shocked it didn't make the cut. My guess is it may not have been televised.
Rick Wise could mash taters!
now trade ohtani for another 10 min

Fun Fact: The Blanton dinger in the World Series will never happen again.
@@Rockhound6165 unless it’s Shoei Otani
@@brucesmith9144 but he wouldn't be a pitcher is he does it.
I was at the Robert Person game, he almost hit another one but it went just foul
Gotta love those players that have that one specific moment you remember them for. Blanton and Person in this video, for example
Memories, memories

Cliff Lee, awesome pitcher and could rake! And such a cool guy!
If you throw baseballs for a living, you can’t hit a baseball anymore
Do Phillies first career homers
Robert is a person named person
It’s nothing but old footage
And you'll never see it again. Thanks, mlb!
I'm impressed you managed to find a Chad Billingsly highlight. You missed that Jeff Bittiger homerun though.
