I totally get Jim and his problem with his parents and the A/C. My Foster Father wouldn't let us turn on the A/C ever growing up, even when it was over 95F inside the house, he would tell us to open the side windows, but leave the front windows closed and the front door closed, "Because it's Ghetto to have your door open to cool off the house". The sides of the house were right next to other houses, so we would get no draft through the house at all, and it would be stale 95F air in the house all Summer long. And you had to choose, either a fan, a light, or the TV, and if you watched TV you only had until the first commercial and then you had to go do chores. Lasted from 3yo all the way to 17yo. And even when I paid $600 a month to sleep on his coach when I was an Adult, I still wasn't allowed to watch the TV above 2 levels of Volume (literally) 2/100, and I wasn't allowed to have a fan on all night, if I was going to sleep I had to turn off the fan, (apparently the heat knows when we are going to sleep and goes away...). /rant.
Holy crap, I want to be a foster mom. I’d keep the house at a reasonable temp, keep them in decent clothes, stay on top of their schoolwork, cook good meals. Seems relatively easy to make a big improvement in child’s life.
