A lot of people remember the older Ray McKinley w/ gray hair at Disneyland. But B4 that, here's a young Ray and he's playin' his tush off!!

A bit of Gene Krupa influence here.

And vice versa - they started at the same time in the late 20's.

I can see Peanuts Hucko on tenorsax on the left.

Looks like Peanuts Hucko on tenor (closest to the camera at about the 1:18 mark). Probably many ex Miller AAF members in that band.

Yea, Peanuts played with Ray in 1949. He was on quite a few of McKinley's recordings during this time also.

Peanuts Hucko also played with Ray in the Will Bradley band before the war. (McKinley was the band's co-leader.)

@@shrinkprof I saw Peanuts in 1994 at a concert at High Wycombe marking the 50th anniversary of a Glenn Miller bond rally.

In 1965, at the Newport Jazz Festival, he was part of an all-star lineup. He played his favorite: "Stealin' Apples." Glad I was there. The performance is on LP. I like his tenor playing very much, too. He had a sound similar to that of Eddie Miller.
