This is my favourite piano piece of all time and I don't know why. Most people think it sounds messy and all over the place, but I love it. It's so beautifully distorted yet so poignantly nostalgic in every way.
I love it too! Not only the middle part, all of it! It's perfectly imperfect! Hehe
It's on a very short list of mine, as well - for me, it's because I imagine practicing it. Was that the right note? Was the timing off? I can't imagine knowing. There's a scherzo in the left hand alone, and the entirety of the movement is all of just under four minutes. When you see someone play it with verve and personality the way it is intended, it's truly something to be witnessed. I don't play piano, but I have to imagine this is a four minute nightmare to perfect.
That was what I was going for
I think it’s pretty. Most people only know this étude from that anime.
Yes, it is messy as it is intended to be... I actually laugh at this. XD
That was just absolutely beautiful! The stance, the grace of the movement, the pedals technique and the execution of the piece... all magnificent, all to perfection! Aimi Kobayashi has my vote of excellence on this piece. Congratulations Aimi, a better execution would simply be impossible.
I have never seen someone play with such feelings
2:53 This part of the piece is heartbreaking, it is incredible the subtle way in which she shows us such a feeling by playing such a sublime piece.
Good to see Aimi less tense up there and enjoying herself and getting emotional about the music.....this is going to be very good for us listeners!!!!
+Carl Hopkinson Agreed, and I also notice that she has matured in the most elegant and positive way. Her overall expression is delightful and her technique has perfected in many ways. It is apparent that She is working extremely hard.
How does she play the middle section so fast, yet so delicately?! Could someone give me a few tips?
Wow... I'm... I've... I am speechless !
Wow that ending was absolutely beautiful
Totally of topic, but she is wearing a really great dress!
Ikr?😂
This etude and her playing are so beautiful!
Aimi's performance and showmanship, in this first round, has me watching over and over. The camera and editing crew did a great job.
Her play never reminds me that this is an etude.
Chopin's etudes are not 'etudes' in the normal sense of the word. They are not 'practicing' matter, rather amazing pieces of work.
my favorite interpretation of this etude, im not crying rly😭😭
Such an Elegant performance! I think I am in love
Wonderful
That was incredible, it doesn't even look like a competition! ♥
+edtskyline Then why so many dislikes? Jealousy by other competitor's families?
+Vette gaddia I know, these people suck! I´ve seen many dislikes on AMAZING performances. Check out Tiffany Poon..she was awesome! (I missed her live performance though...she played about 1 hour ago). Also Qi Kong playing Ballade in F minor Op. 52...and...yesterday morning Łukasz Mikołajczyk...his technique and performance are awesome!
+edtskyline I've also notice that the most dislikes are toward the Asian pianists. That speaks volumes to me.
Eric Lu will beat her. That F major etude... oh my goodness...
Noah Johnson I heard Lu and he was fantastic in the first round and will no doubt advance. Most everyone is playing so well that I can't say anyone is the front runner right now. It's too soon. Lu is from the US, right? That may help him.
2:54 You can hear her exhale as she's about to put everything into the finale. Cute.
Besides some of the pedaling, this is IMO the best version of the piece. It's playfully played, with technical ease and musical phrasing. BRAVA AIMI!!
Listen to hamelin's
She's so beautiful :)
Out of this world. Absolutely amazing!
I enjoyed the whole performance, it was very well-played, thank you Aimi!
this is the first etude I learnt, and I'm so happy when I decided to learnt this piece

I'm full of respect to all Asians who are from different culture but putting so much heart and emotion to their performance.
It's funny that Asians are continuing memory of great western composers in so big scale compare to western people in this competition.
Zoltán Bartha You're falling behind for generalizing people. The color of your skin doesn't define who you are as a person, nor does where you're from.
Zoltán Bartha an astute observation. Asia recognizes the value in art, whilst Europe and America are falling out of it due to their freedoms and their failure to understand what a beauty was created in western principles. Modern art is one such an example of that.
Also note there's a few people like Hans Zimmer And John Williams, but places like Japan have many such as Hiroyuki Sawano, Joe Hisaishi, and other composers for many anime.
Basically I see the art going to the places where the people see hope for a better place and are currently in a hard position. Go to places where people are really poor and struggling Such as Africa or even back to the american slaves. Many of the pieces of music I've heard from the bring me to tears. Suffering causes art and lack of suffering makes the art insufferably poor in quality.
Not from an another culture. You are out of contact w reality pof today. In Japan and many of the other asian countries they totally live a western life, also about culture. There are differences but not about classical music. For you it is just as strange. 200 years old music, but timeless
A yes, Europe, an artless continent, they totally aren’t responsible at all for most of Western culture.
@@Roescoe it might just be that American culture focuses on family and jobs like thats our foundation. We have to worry about healthcare social issues and college it makes sense people don't trail out
You can tell she's really enjoying herself up on the stage
my best version of this piece.
so touched and beautiful!
Very very good
so beautiful. It makes me cry.
wonderful 🌸
so elegant and such control-- wishing you into 3d
Her left hand at 3:08 😍
KOSEI!!!
with the name of shirai kuroko lmao
Very nice tempo.
she's beautiful whattt
How is she playing so delicately and so fast....
That was such a good intro 😮
She makes me cry with that playing
Soooo impressed :)
a brilliant japanese pianist performing this + the depth imbued by japanese anime music choices = tears. absolutely speechless
Beautiful interpretation!
She played much better in first stage than the preliminary round. She made some mistakes in the preliminary round, and she has improved a lot on this piece.
2021 Chopin competition
So this is what feels when you are enraptured by the performance, my eyes is stinging seriously.
I have been always like Chopin. Kobayashi-san (the same name of an anime title that I love) , that was good performance.
Umaru-chan
@@markong3010kovayashis maid dragon?
in love
She reminds me of the girl from your lie in april who has the same nane but her last name is noy Kobayashi and she playing another Etude she wore the same thing the same hair but her dress was red impressive theres so much emotion into one performance just like Arima Kousei
You mean Emi Igawa. Right? She played winter wind.
@@user-gw6ox1mc5t Mhm
Probably your lie in April’s Emi was inspired by her ❤
Great, just so good!!!
Bravissima!
let it ring
she deserves at least second or third place ..
+Piotr Duda I agree with you. I think she deserved at least to be in the top 6, for me it was disappointing when her name wasn't even mentioned...
what place was she?
@@jayrukhaw5012 She made the final stage, but didn't place in the top 6, so there's no official placement as far as I'm aware
She nails it !!!!!!
Amazing and very moving
TE AMO
Shigatsu wa Kimi no uso
Tenshi warotaww nihongoyanke
Those fingers😮
Best part 3:13
One thing that all pianists can relate is when you throughly enjoy a piece you make weird faces and you move weirdly when playing it.
Oh, that's funny. But not the best interpretation
@@anima9265 She's much bettter now, deserved the 4th prize this year.
I had heard the Chopin's competition this year. Still didn't impressed, sorry.
❤❤❤
0:53
*Again*
Elegant
for me, the left hand in the beginning is so hard XD i am cursed with small hands!!!
16 year old and you can only reach an octave? So small hands... I feel sorry for you :(
Omg same
SHIGATSU :P
AGAIN
You can just feel her thought, like, "this is wrong... this is so wrong."
Sarcastitone LOL HAHAHAHAH
uhhhh why would it be wrong??? just because it doesn't sound "pleasing" initially doesn't mean it's wrong man
Tad Torsh you don’t get it, man
@@tadtorsh5165 r/woooosh
Sarcastitone. How in the world would you know what she was thinking?? Sexual innuendo?
She transformed the étude into a small scherzo
Human Effigy Well, the start has the notation "scherzando"
This is brilliant playing, but I do much prefer Kissin's version, it has more ferocity, I feel as if he understands it better
I agree with you completely. Even in the recap of section A before section B. the way those top notes sing out is incredible. Never heard them more clearer.
*Its not a wrong note*
Why me always sad if hear this 😿
👍
I definitely prefer some parts of this performance over the one by Josh Wright, though his will always be 10/10 top notch.
But,E Minor Op.25/5 Is Most Wrong notes
Did it reach her?
I hope so... ;3;/
THE FEELS!!!!
Ena Rosa UGGHH IFKR ;;-;; *HUGS*
What is that supposed to mean
Noah Johnson Well the sentence comes from an anime called "Your lie in April" it's really sad so we got the feels... It's not that you have to watch It or Anything ^^ but I find it awesome and interesting to watch hehe
0:01 0:01 0:01
2:15 2:15 2:15
like that she performed two major pieces from some random anime or might just be pure coincidence.
A Man Trying To Love Marvel And Dc there's the third option, she just plays the fucking piece you weeb
because chopin
Singing a song
that face at the ending xD
Seong Jin Chopin the king xD ♥
Y’all already know sis seen Your Lie in April.
Dennis Dixon lmao 🤣
