@@Asaman854 Ok bro, you think Suspicious Minds is better fine, but HooBUstank was top tier. GTFO. If you have nothing positive to say just go listen to your boomer music.
the reason is one of the best songs ever made. this songs really great but the message is not something relatable for a lot of people. while i agree more people should listen to their music i dont blame people for only listening to that. im the rare exception that listens to all their albums all the way thought and loves it all.
Joann Miller Gladwell Sorry to hear that man. I hate people who bully other people. Stay strong and keep doing you homie! Cause being yourself is the best thing that you can do in life.
I'm 54 now, when I was 32, I delivered pizzas, and this genre stayed on my radio..I cut my teeth on 70s, I invented 80s and I embraced 90s. It's not as good today but there's still new shit coming out I love.. like the new NITA STRAUSS AND ALYSSA WHITE GLUZ.. KILLER!!
Early 2000's were lit. It's a shame I never fully appreciated them, watching these old songs now makes me feel like I'm seeing a tape of some awesome party that I missed long time ago.
Same. Used to see these bands and think they were lame because I was so caught up in the Myspace grindcore/death metal/emo shit. But coming back I missed out lol. I'd hear people listen to shit like this and be like fucking pussy/poser. So simple minded when I was young. Life is crazy
I'm 29 now, and listening to this is like stepping into a time machine. It's incredible. It reminds me of everything we lost. It makes me think of how bland modern music is. Think about this for a second. Back when this track came out, everyone thought "eww bland nu-metal trash". Even Hoobastank admitted that they had no formal understanding of music theory whatsoever. And yet, listening to this now, after the progressive dumbing-down of music into autotuned, quantized, shellacked turds, it sounds like fucking Mozart. It has compositional complexity that today's music lacks. Listen to that intro riff. I mean, this actually has a melody. It's not just some house beat with monotone grunting layered over it. It's really pathetic, just how far we've fallen.
People who are born somewhere around 79 - 89 consider lucky enough because at this point (2019) they all aged between 30 - 40.. we are the generation who experienced both before and after technologies become massive.. I missed those days when I was 20's.. now I'm 37 (82)..I now more appreciate when getting older as the journey of my life continues (work, business, family, wife, kids and so on)..damn, hoobastank is one of my favourite band..thanx for the memories!
I feel you man, im 24 and this song was one of the big songs of my childhood. As im getting ready to go into my job this morning the lyrics poped into my head and i had to give it another play.
AT 64 yrs old and an old rocker, I can say that this question never gets answered and IT SUCKS! haha. Kudos to Hoobestank for asking this question. Must be played at 11 out of 10!!!

this is closer to being played on classic rock stations now, more than mainstream rock. Just remember, your parents probably thought the same for a band like Led Zepplin or Aerosmith when our parents were in their 30s.

Damn I'm 36 already... Call me old fart, but this was a period when mainstream music was actually good. And during this period I was mostly into punk and metal, but over time I learned to appreciate this.

September 2001, the Tabernacle, Atlanta. My first solo concert to see Incubus live. Hoobastank opened and I was blown away. Underrated band to this day and this song killed live.
i remember i was in high school when this song came out freshman year but i used to watch BET 106 and park and this song came on one day at number 3 thats how accepted by black culture hoobastank was
Crawling in the Dark is the only song that I would consider listening to by Hoobastank now. When it was first coming out I was mentoring a bunch of young people at the local fire department and one of them introduced me to the song. It just connected to me, in such a way. To me, it summed up what it was like to go into a burning fire, and the internal monologue you have with yourself. We use to joke that our station would make a hell of a TV show, and one day I suggested it would be only if the theme song was Crawling in the Dark...I got a few crossed looks at first, then for the longest time, when the alarm would drop, several of us would play the song in our heads....sorry just felt I needed to share that story.
Yeah I despised The Reason with a passion when that got played to death and I was ready to write this band off forever but then I heard this song and I changed my tune, I also liked "Next Direction"(which was featured in the movie "Catwoman").
Ealry 2000s was the best for rock. You had pop punk, nu metal, modern alt rock....loved it all

I remember hearing this song on Aggressive Inline on the OG Xbox back in 7th grade. I miss this era of rock 😞
Aggressive Inline!
Was this era the last good era of mainstream rock?
20 years ago.. we are all old.. wtf.. this aged well
2024?
Im not an adult but this is my favorite song right now
God I miss those day when music was good like this
This is how loud metalcore gets in 2022 ...
I miss these days of MTV hard rock live concerts early 2000s rock was the best
September 2001, the Tabernacle, Atlanta. My first solo concert to see Incubus live. Hoobastank opened and I was blown away. Underrated band to this day and this song killed live.
September 2001. Damn.
Early 2000s best music era
I feel like hooba didn't get the love they deserve. They wrote awesome songs.

This song still crushes. Holy smokes!!! Where have the last 20 years gone!??!!??
bro u probably spend them behind a desk and paying mortgages... statisticly speaking
@@robertidonotsharemyfullnam496 Unfortunately. =) I need to be reminded to "show me what it's for....lest I continue to crawl in the dark" =)
This is such a nostalgic era of rock that I love so much
i remember i was in high school when this song came out freshman year but i used to watch BET 106 and park and this song came on one day at number 3 thats how accepted by black culture hoobastank was
I’m 28 and still listen to this band all the time
I love early 2000s rock
Awesome story thanks for sharing Deegan
You are a badass!
Yeah I despised The Reason with a passion when that got played to death and I was ready to write this band off forever but then I heard this song and I changed my tune, I also liked "Next Direction"(which was featured in the movie "Catwoman").
Glad it help u get threw
More. It's very intriguing!🤔
