    I had bought two PS4 controllers from gamestop and they replaced the thumb sticks with the orange good ones. Best way I could explain it is that they feel more smooth. I was more surprised with the face that gamestop actually replaced parts with better parts. Not sure if they still are doing this though.

    The clicking noise is actually normal on the alps. The playstation controllers comes with 2 different sticks:
    Alps (Green, Teal)
    Favor union (Orange)
    The green or rather teal ones always click and they are the better sticks in my opinion because they have a little more tension.

    • @zeroxiiimk2
      @zeroxiiimk2  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @raichou101 Yes, you're right, that clicking noise is normal on the alps RKJXs as well as to feel. But I personally don't like any sort of resistance and prefer a more tension less/free stick when aiming. But if it makes you play better, who am i to judge. Each to their own preferences ✌️

      @@zeroxiiimk2 Yeah, you're right ofc its all down to preference although I would recommend the GuliKit TMR as a replacement. They are pretty new on the market and fixed the problems with the hall effect stick such as high input lag etc. But they're not cheap with 25€

    • @zeroxiiimk2
      @zeroxiiimk2  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @raichou101 I actually just seen you replied to someone in the comment section recommending them. I just did some research on them, and I might test them out. The only reason I never used hall effects was because most times i would test them in competitive play on different fps/shooters they would be too inconsistent in regards to snapping to targets (tracking felt fine). as well as the L3/R3 going bad early. Another reason was because they were not many reputable brands that seemed trustworthy, with the only ones being from aliexpress. I was and am still eagerly waiting for marius's hall effects as he's someone I'm friends with and can trust. gullikit is also trustworthy as I've used them on my joycons and pro controllers, so it's nice to see they've made their own universal line up for all consoles.

    actually the normal error % is around 12% and you won't feel anything in game all the dualsense controllers i've tested are in the 9% error range and with stock sticks no matter what i try i can never make them go bellow 8%

    • @zeroxiiimk2
      @zeroxiiimk2  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@LyuboA yep, circularity doesn't affect in game unless it goes up into the corners. For the error percent, i usually average around 4%-7.8%. The thing that affects circularity however is how well the pins on the potentiometers are straightend to the board before calibration. Aswell as how the stick was soldered into place.

    Thank you for the tutorial. This is a video I was looking for to start learning how to solder. Anyway I got a few question to ask. What temperature heat did you use on your soldering iron? And last question back then I tried to do soldering and I plug in my soldering iron and wait around 5 min then my soldering iron tips turn red do you kinda know what turns wrong making it red? Thanks

    • @zeroxiiimk2
      @zeroxiiimk2  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @MaLEFiCx777 for tempature on my soldering station i usually fluctuate between 380-397c° though something you should understand is that more heat -> less time is always the way to go for solder station, not all the time for hot air though. And for your soldering iron turning red, that might be a soldering iron/station issue, if it looks rusty though, then that means it's oxidized and needs to be tinned. I show in the video how to tin tip, which is brass wool and preferably a tip tinner solution that restores coating back.

      @zeroxiiimk2  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Where did i ever mention using hall effects or the early ps3 controllers in this video? I'm aware that they did use hall effects aswell as in the dreamcast controllers, but i never talked about that in this video, or in my dualsense video. I've discussed it in the comments, but that was regarding the GINFAQ hall effects (aka cheap hall effects), and why hall effects "WERE" still behind potentiometer counterparts due to the inconsistencies on aiming, aswell as bad tact switches for the L3s (on the GINFAQS). Though i will say as of now, I've been testing the recent favor union hall effects, and to my suprise they may be the definitive version of hall effects, i know circularity doesn't affect in game, but for hall effects that have close to or even better error rates. That says alot. I've even started to plan out on selling controllers, Scufs, edge modules with them. I may end up making a video on them when i have the time, but I've been busy fixing up a bunch of controllers/modules and what not. So i'll see... Thanks for the comments ✌️

      Hall effects, as of now are still very inconsistent when it comes to precise aiming. Most hall effects right now on the market, which you can find on aliexpress are not optimized for competitive play. Though if you play casually/play other games, they're not a problem at all. Although, one of my friends is making accurate hall effects. I explain it, at the resolution portion of the video. Hope this answered your question bro!

      Basically, what they do is they move the max threshold of the stick to the FAKE center. The right way to do it is to calibrate the misaligned stick (with software) to your PCB/CONTROLLER designated for your desired center.
      To do that now, it's easy as fuck to learn which I'm glad (i hated the old method). Just go here to this website and learn it for a few minutes. It's extremely simplified and works with ps5 and ps4 controllers.

    I don't understand. How to replace a part that is known to have rapid and premature wear with another part having the same problems even if it is of better quality? In the end it will be necessary to replace the graphite potentiometers once again when repeated recalibration will no longer be enough. How is this ideal compared to Hall effect sticks which do not have these problems and which are just as simple to make and as precise as these old potentiometers in our current era?
    In the end, it is not more ideal than buying a controller if it is to stay on classic potentiometers and the hall effects are precise enough for competition, you just have to get used to it like any new controller.
    The video should be titled "The Ideal Way to Report the Drift Problem" because it is absolutely not fixed. It will inevitably reappear at one point or another by using the controller. So it's not a fix.

    • @zeroxiiimk2
      @zeroxiiimk2  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hall effect sticks are not good for high accuracy and pinpoint precision... yet.
      I've done multiple tests, both from error readings and in-game playing. Hall effects are still in their fetal-like state. new but have potential. I have a friend who is working on hall effects that carry the same attributes as potentiometer sticks, which I'd shown in the video. The "Hall effects" you will see on aliexpress, Amazon, eBay, etc. They are cheaply made, not optimal for fps and competitive play. And tend to break faster than regular sticks. I;E The L3/R3 button. It's better to have the knowledge of replacing sticks than not to. Especially if the ones you are using are not to your liking. Hall effects still have their uses. If you have another setup in the living room for an example, where you tend to play single-player games. They will 100% suffice.

      @@zeroxiiimk2 For training perhaps since tampered controllers are excluded from competitions even for a simple stick replacement to avoid cheating that has happened in the past. As for the premature wear of the Hall effect sticks, I have serious doubts about that. Good quality sticks (or rather exactly the same qualities as the originals) are easier to find than the potentiometers themselves just as you could simply replace only the potentiometers of the stick that you already have which means that I don't really understand this argument. If the potentiometers in the controllers have changed, the sticks are all the same whether it is PS, Nintendo or XBOX and it is safe to use the first controller which hangs around even from one generation to the next. These are generally ALPS which are found absolutely everywhere and which therefore do not wear out more or less than another APLS just like the L3/R3 switch.
      The sticks of other brands that we find on Aliexpress or Amazon remain sticks really coming from these brands (Ginfull, Favor Union...) which are for some better than the ALPS used by Sony or Microsoft. Having them on Aliexpress does not make them any less good in terms of their price, just like the potentiometers (provided you know how to use the search tools that the site offers). The only problem with getting them on Aliexpress or Amazon is not really knowing what brand and version they will send us, unless you contact them for information, which is what people who are actually looking for a particular item do.
      When I see the quality that reputable brands offer now (drifts after barely 3 weeks on official controllers), I have learned to be more wary of those than other brands that don't look like much.

    • @zeroxiiimk2
      @zeroxiiimk2  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @thesilencer8074 "Tampered" controllers, whatever that means. Are allowed in tournaments, whether for fps or for fighting games or any other esports title. (As long as it is not being used as cheating or unfairly advantageous in said tournament/rules). It contradicts what you have said because wouldn't scuf/battle beaver controllers be banned? The only controller that was ever controversial from my knowledge was the hitbox, and that's not even from fps/shooters. And as for hall effects, to be excact "Ginfaqs". Are known to wear out because of the cheap materials used to manufacture them, this is very much common knowledge by most people i talked with. Along with its very obnoxious calibration system. I've personally went through 2 sets of them under 4-6 months of comp play back during mw2. And favor unions are officially used by Sony, I'm not sure about xbox tho. Newer generation ds4 and ds5 were manufactured with polyshines. If not, most of the ds5 controllers have polyshines in them now, just with 2 3k ohms ofc. I had a theory that certain regions have polyshines OEMd such as the device names being different (CUH ZCT2U, CUH ZCT2E, CUH ZT2J), but I may have debunked it after importing multiple controllers from different places, and getting alps on the imported controllers RIP.

    Will this work on Windows 8?

      Unfortunately, I'm not too sure.
      I doubt it would work, since the script was developed using a later version of python (Windows 10 only build) through you can try it for yourself and hope It doesn't brick your controller. If you are to attempt it. Make sure your downloading the latest version of python compatible with 8. Good luck!

      @primo_kush_4208 if you're talking about the gullikit ones, then sure, I can't say anything since I'm yet to try it. But if you're talking about the "cheap" ones, I'd love to see how long those clicks would last you..
