Not David....we are losing so many...Legends
Slow and sensuous, I love this song still decades later.

Yes it was!
From the very first note, I melt.
Oh, the memories this song brings flooding back, from 1986... Beautiful track...INCREDIBLE album! Huge fan of both immensely talented gentlemen.💎 ~Zoila Robledo
Qué manera de tocar, con cuánto sentimiento. Muy pocos llegan a este nivel de transmisión emocional, en cualquier instrumento. Inmenso David. Vives por siempre ❤
This whole album of top musicianship led by the greats Bob James & David Sanborn & that genuis of Marcus Miller remains an all-time classic 33 years on. But this gem- the version by the Right Rev. Ray remains the vocal standard- finds Mr. Sanborn calling on his inner Hank Crawford. HC is that important middle man of great alto players soulfully singing on their horns- from Earl Bostic to David Sanborn. On his debut album, Mr. Crawford stated that "he's more interested in moving people than impressing them". That quote could have been stated by Earl Bostic, Johnny Hodges, Papa Lou Donaldson, or David Sanborn. All master musicians who can reach that casual lay listener in the back of the club- not by playing an exercise of endless notes but by playing with feeling which moves the listener. Every time.
So well stated. A true masterpiece when you move someone with such skill. ♥️
Looking this for decades!
I used to drive flight crews in and out of Boston some 25+ years ago and would play select cuts from various jazz musicians on the ride into Boston. "You Don't know Me" and "Since I fell for you" (R.I.P to the great Al Jarreau) were the first two cuts on the tape.
Within seconds of the first note and almost without exception, the entire crew would fall silent and not make a sound until we got to the hotel. Not one person EVER asked me to lower the volume or shut it off. The only comments would be "great music", "we needed that" or "who was that?"
After a long day of zipping through time zones and pacifying a rude public, these songs were like audio-margaritas to the battle-weary flight crews.
They called it "Gary's woman-gittin'" music because I usually had little difficulty in finding a date ! :-) Even wound up marrying one a few years after the wild oats were sown!
I flew into Logan when I was a kid in I think 1989 or 1990.. for some reason this always reminds me of that.. eve though I have no actual memory of that song during the trip
Awesome 👌
David Sanborn's rendition of You dont know me still lingers with me until now.One of my favorite in the Album "DOUBLE VISION" with Bob James. This album won GRAMMY for both.
This is the song and the last on _Double Vision_ (1986) too!

Playing this music over and over again. This music transport me of an era of great music such as this. I am old but not dead yet I wish musicians /artists resurrect the golden era of music. This is my favorite truly from the collab of the greatest Sanborn the best sax player and Bob James the best pianist .
Great song! Love it!
Since I Fell for You". #grammywinner #smoothjazz
