    I've been natural for 3 years. My hair was thriving the first 2 years, like I was truly feeling myself. It was so healthy, so thick and I felt like every few months, it just kept getting thicker. I would get compliments all the time. Then after that 2nd year, I literally just stopped trying. The length was like mid-boob, and I feel like I just got too comfortable. I would wear it in a puff, slick my edges and legit do that for weeks. Wash it, then do it all over again. My hair would always stay dry and I didn't care. Until I finally took my hair down and had all these single strand knots and split ends. Had to cut inches :( so now I'm starting a "2nd natural hair journey". And I'm on a mission to get it to waist length. We'll seeeeeeeeee

      True. That’s why a lot of naturals do a lot of twists and braids, retains a lot of length and reduces single strand knots

    • @marvettesb9609
      @marvettesb9609 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some will disagree but it works put raw shae, mango any of the butters straight out the tub (you can add oils to soften it), add water to your hair and slap that butter on the ends then style with your hair with gels or whatever.... game changer it put an end to my single stran knots! Sis your ends/hair will thank you for it

    Healthy hair is beautiful hair. Hair that is taken care of and loved is beautiful. A shiny, bald scalp, exfoliated, oiled and taken care of, is gorgeous. Afros in the 60's and 70's were neat, even gloves of hair that glistened. Look at old pictures of Pam Grier and tell me she had bad hair!! Braids! Each style a masterpiece. Intricate designs, infinite in number. Add the hair jewelry and a strut, unstoppable! Locs, lion's mane! The Himba people use ocher clay to set off their looks and it's off the chain. They keep their immaculate Sister locs, large locs, long or short. You care for them, they bless you with softness. I say all this to repeat: all hair is beautiful that is healthy and taken care of, including baldness.

    I started using Aubrey Organics GPB conditioner because of Chime Edwards. I was obsessed with all natural hair bloggers back then. I miss those days. I know everything now but I still go watch their channels to see what they are up to now

    I’m 8 years natural. Back when I was at my 6 year mark, I wanted to get my first professional flat iron. The girl butchered my hair. Pulled out so much hair detangling wrong and gave me heat damage. Set me back about 2 1/2 years. I had to cut so much off. I was almost waist length and I ended up being back at APL because I cut off more than 6 inches of damage over the year. I will never flat iron my hair and I will never let anyone else do it either. Right now I’m almost back to BSL and my hair is healthy again. It went from high porosity to medium after I cut out all the damage. Set backs are learning moments

    THANK YOU so much for the tip about switching up your parts.. I have never thought about how that can set my hair journey back 😭 I literally either wear my hair pulled back or parted on the same side for as long as I can remember. I feel like that is the reason why my hair is less curly on that side and curlier on the side thats “protected” i guess! I‘ve always hated middle parts or parts on my right side but ill have to deal with it now for the sake and health of my hair. so thank you thank you. new sub💓

    I got to the same point of frustration after coloring and trying everything and stress. Lol. I went into the salon to cut it all off and the stylist asked me so many times if I was sure when I took my hair down. Except I actually chopped it all off. Its been 3 years since I did that. And girl! If you're anything like me, the short hair felt like SO MUCH WORK. So now I'm growing it back and working on patience.

      I switched out! But yes, I majored in it for like 2 years and loved it but just as people mentioned it takes dedication. I would recommend it to anybody who can put in the work, it felt rewarding and the salaries are great if you're a really good coder who can quickly learn as you go. You don't necessarily need to be good at math. Coding bootcamps don't teach math but majoring in college, you'll be required to yes, take many a math class. I know great coders who went to camps and those who went to college and what they both have in common is their will and determination to succeed in it

      CockyRetrospect thanks so much for replying, i'm currently a junior in high school and I'm planning on majoring in computer science once I apply to college but I just want to know like different perspectives on it. I enjoy coding but I just sometimes feel scared because I don't know if I would have what it takes. Right now I'm taking AP computer science principles and next year I'm planning on taking AP computer science A, so once I take those I feel like I'll be able to see if I actually like doing it. Thanks again and what did you switch out to?

      Asmae A She has classic American features meaning she has features that are considered beautiful by American standards whether you identify as African American, Asian, Native American, white American, Latin American, etc. Don’t think too deep into my statement. I’m simply saying she is so pretty and has ideal American standard beauty. Yes she is black and yes a lot of blacks are American so we have room to also have features that are Considered ideally beautiful if judged by the general American standard just like Asians, native Americans, Latin American, and every color under the same

      Do a hair spa! Throw mayonnaise on your hair and let it sit on your hair in a plastic cap while you do your thing. Add apple cider vinegar for your scalp. Rinse it out later, and your hair will soften. I wash my hair with Castile soap, then chase that with Suave almond shea butter conditioner mixed with other oils. Natural oils. Each person's hair requires oil that helps their hair type. Like, my hair loves coconut oil mixed with other oils and not a real fan of a lot of olive oil. Experiment!

      Hi Angela, I noticed the same thing. I cannot spray my without my hair shrinking up and starting to tangle on each other.( I think she also is applying a leave-in conditioner ) You just have to find the right combination that works for your hair. Once you moisture and seal twist your hair so it stays moisturized and stretched so it doesn't tangle. You also have good hair. And the longer it gets the more it will start to hang.

      Y’all please stop jumping on people when they talk about “good hair”. You know that we grew up with that! It was ingrained in us. It was/is a part of the black community. It is our reality. Just kindly educate ppl. But stop approaching them like at some point you didn’t say it yourself or hear someone close to you say it.

    • @JazzyFro
      @JazzyFro 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah when you spray it do it in sections and braid or twist up the sections you brushed so it won’t shrink up on you. My hair has MAJOR shrinkage and it shrinks up to an Afro and it’s almost Bra strap length so I understand...all hair is good hair :)
