‘Huge disagreement’ as Israel ignored US military strategy for its war on Gaza: Analyst

- William Lawrence, a professor of international relations at the American University, says the US commander who oversaw the Battle of Mosul to defeat the armed group ISIL (ISIS) was sent to advise Israel’s military on how to conduct the Gaza campaign without the mass killing of civilians.
Israel’s leadership, however, “didn’t take that strategy to heart”.
“While they do have mechanisms to avoid killing civilians, they didn’t implement their own policies either. There’s a huge disagreement on strategy now,” he told Al Jazeera.
He noted the United States has given Israel “carte blanche up till now”, and continues to ship light weapons to its military during the ongoing campaign in Gaza.
“From a Palestinian perspective, it’s absolutely clear the US is doing next to nothing to save them from the onslaught of the Israeli forces,” said Lawrence.

@@tomjones9082 the US doesn't want to send its military in, it's not needed, and IL wouldn't even want it there because the american soldiers would be too likely to object to the local customary degree of criminality in military conduct. in so far as this pier has other purposes than emigration, which is sure to be the primary one because enabling emigration without letting people enter the jurisdictions of either egypt or IL is the only major change brought about by a port, the point is for the US to have a special "aid" supply project that they can point to to say that they really tried. they're aiming to reduce legal exposure, sending in troops would increase legal exposure.
the US is certainly actively participating by providing signals intelligence and satellite and drone surveillance, and allegedly even fire missiles from their reaper drones, but all that can be kept very difficult to prove. basically they would need to be unlucky enough for the involved military or more likely CIA sections to spring a leak - the CIA actually has its own small army of special forces and a little air force and a large portion of the US attack drone fleet, and they can be reasonably assumed to be to ones running most of the US armed involvement because if such involvement is happening, it's small enough to be covered by the CIA, and such things really only get handed off to the military that can't keep a secret for sh°° if the operational requirements get too big.

How do you estimate everyone still under the rubble? There should be a multinational investigation into the Gaza invasion because neither side is trustworthy. Aid and journalists need to be let in immediately.

The US government only had to say to Israel to reinstate AP in Israel tout suite and what happened, they immediately allowed AP back in. Anyone who thinks Israel is refusing to listen to the US government is not paying close attention. If US admin wanted Israel to stop the war and make peace, there would be peace.
