HOwdy, Dave. Another great video from my favorite real railroader. Thanks for posting and it looks like you had a great time at the museum. Hope you have a great day. The Central of Georgia RR got started just after the war (Civil War) when the south was rebuilding after the war. It lasted until 1963 and was purchased by Southern RR which was purchased by Norfolk Southern in 1982. Cheers from eastern TN

My pleasure being there Sam. Video is not yet public, will be at some point here in the near future. Thanks so much for watching and may you have a very good day my friend.
Thanks for posting this!! Many thanks to you for coming out to watch the coupler through that turn, he needed someone with your type of knowledge to have eyes on it for him.
Oh. I forgot to tell you about a tamper i saw working live in Rochelle, IL on virtual railfan. While working here at home, i keep that live feed on one of my monitors. On the double track UP line, they are in the process of replacing the road crossing. After clearing the track 2 crossing, they replaced a set of rails already assebled with ties. After the rail was installed, we could clearly see the sag across where the road should be. After covrring the rail with ballast, the tamper came in and raised the sag level with the rest of the rail. That was really cool to see. Thought about your video about your tamper. The next day the tamper came back and did a little more tamping after multiple trains crossed it over night. To put it in your words: "Thats some pretty cool stuff." Lol
That's pretty cool to hear you got to see how that works Off TheRails. Nice. Yep, tamp it up then let some trains run over it and then tamp again, the right way to do it. Thank you my friend for taking the time to watch the video and may you have a very good day.
Thank you for the nice comment William. Your right, it is good for young uns to learn about railroads. Appreciate very much your taking the time to watch my friend and may you have a very good day.
That's pretty cool Mike, do you remember the old motor truck they had on rail, it was sitting down in West Waynesburg by the road still on the old tracks. There are a few buildings left on that ROW you saw but not much else is remaining. Thank you very much for watching my friend and my you have a very good day.

We were hoping you'd hit the lottery Tom and spend all that money on getting it back under steam.... :-) It would take a lot to do, plus we need a lot more track to take excursion rides on! Really appreciate your taking the time to watch the video my friend and may you have a very good day.
Really good to see #4 again. It does not seem that long since you were doing the track work there. Aden looked to be enjoying riding the switcher, so good of them to let him do that making it a real special day for him. I see some from over here visited that week, that must of been some trip seeing lots of narrow gauge railways. Have a good day Dave
I was not there the day the folks from UK came, however when we were rebuilding the track there was also visitors from UK, I met them but not remember at all their names. It surprised me too it was 3 years ago we did the track, my how time flies by. Thank you very much for taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.
From experience, when the weather warms up yes it does get hot on the foot plate of a steam engine. It is however quiet bearable when you are moving, more so if you can stick your head out with a wet sweat rag around your neck. What I found uncomfortable, was when you stopped. The cab became like a heat sink, more so if you had to tend to the fire. The hardest part of a hot day, was knocking out the fire. The heat was still there, the locomotive was stationary, and you had to deal with the heat, ash and clinker of the fire, more so if it needed to be shoveled out. I spent about 20 years working on Baldwin designed, 2-6-2T, narrow gauge engines, and there was not much room in the cab. Two people were comfortable, three became a crowd! #4 looks well preserved with most of its fittings present. Very similar to the 1898 designed Baldwins that I worked on. I trust they give the motion some lubrication before they move it. Thank you for sharing.
I'm sure that it does get plenty warm in there Kevin. How awesome is it that you got to work on that steam loco. Good for you. Memories you will never forget despite the heat. #4 has some great guys who take very good care of her and its so nice she is kept out of the weather in the barn not like she used to be outside all the time when she first came here. And yes they keep her oiled up. Very much appreciate your taking the time to check out the video my friend and may you have a very good day.
Your welcome Lewis, track still looks as good as when we restored it. Appreciate very much your taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.
Thanks, you would like that locomotive Dave. Too bad we didn't have time to go check it out when you were here. But it will be here for a long long time yet so when you come back we can go visit her.
That's pretty cool to hear Randy. Does he also like trains? Really appreciate your taking the time to watch the video my friend and may you have a very good day.
Enjoyed the Steam Locomotive, but I really loved that little Plymouth Switcher. I had one on my overhead G Gauge layout I had set up many years ago when I got into G Scale trains. Had a sound card for it, sure glad it wasn't as LOUD as the one in your video.🤣🤣🤣 Sadly, it doesn't exist any longer, I had 2 cats and they loved to sleep on the elevated(near ceiling) tracks. One day, like a dummy, I didn't park the train in the enclosed area I had for it. Well, wife and I went out to dinner and a movie, when we got home our very large cat had knocked the locomotive, and the entire consist off, onto the hard kitchen floor. That poor loco, a boxcar, a tank car and a caboose were in a million pieces scattered everywhere. Nope, just like Humpty Dumpty, no one was putting this train back together again. Salvaged what I could for parts, and trashed the unusable pieces. Couldn't get a replacement for it as the company that made it went out of business.😥. It was the only Plymouth Switcher I ever found for my G Scale Railroad, and it was yellow too. Looking forward to more info on that Plymouth Switcher. I used to love to sit trackside by the switchyards, and could watch them build up, and move around the rolling stock for hours on end. They weren't using Plymouth Switchers, but a GP38-2, NW2 or GP7/GP9. Occasionally they'd use an SD40-2 or an ACW44E(?)Not sure I have the correct designation for this loco.
Those darn cats.... how cool you had a Plymouth G scale, I had no clue they ever made anything like that Mr. Bones. I can just imagine how you felt when you got home that night. sigh.... Really appreciate your taking the time to watch the video my friend and may you have a very good day.
I noticed that there was very minimal flange on the drive wheels? Was that a design feature or something due to wear, please comment Very good video! Keep up the good work ! JIM ❤
The middle driver had no flange at all on it Jim, that is called a blind driver. Many steam locos had some blind drivers on them. The W&W RR had a 33 degree curve and had there been flanges on all drivers the loco would not be able to negotiate the curve that sharp. The other two sets of drivers have normal flanges on them. Thank you very much your taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.
Cooke Locomotive works was in Patterson, NJ. I'm biased so I think they made some amazing Narrow Gauge locomotives there! Also Thomas is an 0-6-0T, but James the Red Engine is a mogul, though!
Wow I blew it two times in the video then didn't I.... sigh. But thanks to informed viewers like you, I stand corrected. Thank you for taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.
@@ccrx6700 it's okay to be uninformed, I don't expect everyone to stick around to Thomas because to most it's a TV show & book series. Locomotive Number 4's beautiful, though! Would be amazing if one day she could be steamed up on a decent stretch of track to run up and down with passengers but I'm just happy she's preserved honestly!
Thank you for this video! "Once upon a time" these were near the acme of human technology, and we now hear that Space x has returned a rocket to the launch pad after an orbit of the Earth.
Once upon a time the Model T Ford was the epitome of travel too. But once upon a time donkeys were also.... :-) Sweet Mother of Jesus rode a donkey the day she delivered, too bad she didn't have #4 loco to take her to the stable.... Or if she had rode Amtrak now, she most likely would have been late.... LOL Moral of the story : Donkeys get you there on time, Amtrak not always so..... Very much appreciate your taking the time to watch and may you have a very good day my friend.
Thank you for the nice comment David, you are right it is a sweet little loco with quite an interesting history. Very much appreciate your taking the time to watch and may you have a very good day my friend.
We got lot's of lining bars out here and track jacks Bill, so is really nice of you to volunteer to come out and tamp it up in your spare time....:-) I asked for a narrow gauge 6700 tamper but so far, all they gave me was lining bar..... Thank you for taking the time to watch and may you have a very good day my friend.
Poor Dave! I feel sorry for him have those ladies and grandkids forcing him to go to see all this train related events! I'm sure he goes kicking and screaming all the way!
Your right about that Jughead, hope everyone feels sorry for me.... :-) They made me take them to the Western Maryland Scenic RR last weekend to ride too. I'm thinking about filing for abuse..... If I do, at least I got you to come and be a witness for me. Thank you very much for watching my friend and my you have a very good day.
#4 has been lucky to have survived and now several good folks take really good care of her. It's awesome that she's now inside and doesn't have to sit out in the elements anymore like she once did when she came her.
Your right, it is pretty neat place RFM Caboose. We like being there. Very much appreciate your taking the time to watch and may you have a very good day my friend.
Isn't that the only Narrow gauge PRR locomotive now? Too bad you couldn't have come to the J&L on Thursday or Friday of the convention. Would have loved to meet you and put you at the throttle of the 58. :) I sure hope they are oiling that slide valve, piston, piston rod, crosshead and rod bearings when moving that baby back and forth like that.
To my knowledge you are right Bryan, I don't think there are any PRR narrow gauge steam locos left. At least if there are, I don't know about them. For sure I would have totally loved just being in that loco, but had to work those days. I'll get there sooner or later tho. And, don't worry, they keep #4 well lubed up. Glad you enjoyed it Larry. Really appreciate your taking the time to watch the video my friend and may you have a very good day.
Boy I certainly blew that one didn't I Paul.... good thing I got you guys around to keep me on my toes! Thank you very much for watching my friend and my you have a very good day.
@@ccrx6700 Geeeeeee! Sure didnt know there would be so much bickering over a beautiful narrow guage 2-6-0.............bet they dont bicker at the Cumberland mine RR, Dave would see to that❗
It's been around Joseph. That coach was once new for the W&W RR. It's been several places since the WW shut down and finally came back about 4 years ago. It needs a whole lot of work. But it and #4 loco are the only surviving pieces of rolling stock from the W&W RR. Really appreciate your taking the time to watch the video my friend and may you have a very good day.
Another railroad that the PRR bought was the 3' gauge Ohio River & Western. That is a very nice loco. I've fired a 1913 ALCo Pacific and rode as an engine messenger on one built in 1922. I would love to see #4 under steam but know what work it would require and also the costs. To meet FRA requirements likely would cost between $750,000 and $1,000,000.
Wow that is pretty cool Don. I would love to fire a steam loco someday, although the older I get the more a stoker seems to be the way to go than a hand shovel.... :-) We are waiting for you to hit the lottery and spend that million on getting this back under steam, and by the way, we need a couple miles of track built also to run it on. :-) Thank you very much for taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.
@@ccrx6700 It is nice and warm in the winter but in Florida summers it is down right brutal to be in the cab of a steam engine. And when it is under steam, someone does need to be there all the time. If I really wanted to, I could actually buy the loco I fired. But again, like with the #4, it would cost up to $1,000,000 to get up to FRA specs. I don't have that kind of pocket change. I actually own about a mile of former RR ROW that belonged to the PRR.
We are hoping you will hit the lottery Jennifer and use your money to get this loco restored and back under steam, plus build us a couple of miles of track to run it on..... :-) Appreciate very much your taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.
This is a 3 foot gauge track here Rachel. All of the ties are used ones, some we cut down like out front to make it look nicer, the rest behind the building are regular ties 8 foot 6 inches long. The ties in front are 6 feet in length. Cutting ties is really hard on chain saw chains which is why we left the long ties out back. Appreciate very much your taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.
@@ccrx6700 Dave, thanks, thats 914mm. We have in Germany two rails with 900mm trackwide. The first ist Borkumer Inselbahn on the island Borkum in the northsea. The second is the Mecklenburgische Bäderbahn, this Railroad runs between Bad Doberan and Kühlungborn in the near from the baltic sea. Both Rails are not museumsrails, that where rails with regulary trafic. The Borkum Rail runs with diesel and the other with steam. Here i have a videolink from the Mecklenburgische Bäderbahn. Last year she was 125 years old. th-cam.com/video/UtvGgifeRG0/w-d-xo.html
Isn't Aiden the kid that couldn't get to ride on the scenic railroad a couple of months ago due to weather cancellation? He looked really happy in this video.
Your right about that OffTheRails. We went back a couple of weeks ago and he got to ride that time. Will be a video on that sometime later this fall. Very much appreciate your taking the time to check out the video my friend and may you have a very good day.
It is 3 foot gauge mips. Narrow gauge track was built in a variety of gauges. Thank you very much for taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.
I K Brunel laid his track 7ft 1/4 inch. He was over ruled because more had built standard gauge and his track was converted to standard. I always wish Brunel had got his way. Today trains would be able to carry just about anything.
Good question Clarence. Everyone now complains about how long trains are. Wider gauge and we could carry more cargo with a lot less cars. But boy would that be an astronomical expense to widen all the track, tunnels, bridges, and all the rolling stock. Really appreciate your taking the time to watch the video my friend and may you have a very good day.
Not yet Tom, they are on the bucket list but just don't know when I will get there. The EBT was another big part of this years narrow gauge convention. Very much appreciate your taking the time to watch and may you have a very good day my friend.
Your right about that Kirk, #4 certainly is. They have it set up to run on it's own on compressed air, but haven't got the compressed air storage figured out yet, that will come eventually. Aiden is 12, and he loves trains so you know he's my grandson! Thank you very much for watching my friend and my you have a very good day.
When I hit the big lottery I will do just that Anthony! Sounds like an awesome thing to do. Only problem with that is, I never play the lottery, so guess it's up to you to hit big and spend the money here.... :-) Thank you very much for taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.
Your right about that Reggie, I really blew it didn't I .... sigh. Thank you for pointing out my mistake. Appreciate very much your taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.
Dude, Thomas the tank engine is not a mogul, think about the name TANK ENGINE, Thomas is a LB & SCR E2 class locomotive which has tanks on both sides of the boiler to add water to the boiler, mean while the locomotive there at the narrow gauge convention has a tender that it pulls to hold more water to send to the boiler as needed.
Thank you for sharing that Robert, I totally blew that one didn't I! I feel so ashamed..... sigh. Really appreciate your taking the time to watch the video my friend and may you have a very good day.
Now that's a word I had to look up Stubby, his mother never heard of the term either. They have provided Aiden with lot's of sensory type stuff in his home and in a room we have for him at our place tho. Corrie thought that was a really cool idea and is going to look into it further. Thanks so much for sharing that new term with me. It very well may help that little boy. Sometime this winter Corrie is going to do a couple of videos on autism, they will be shown on my second channel if your interested. The problem with autism, Aiden didn't come out of the hole with a hand book telling Corrie what all to do, it's been a learning experience and she is still learning all the time. Appreciate very much your taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.
Looked that one up, I like it! How awesome you get to run that puppy mow4ncry. I'm jealous but happy for ya. Really appreciate your taking the time to watch the video my friend and may you have a very good day.
When they hopped on the train i thought, well it will take a while to get the coal going and that boiler warmed up... but no, it didnt move on its own steam.
No it didn't Bert and probably never will unless you or someone hits the big lottery and spends the money here.... :-) Thank you very much for taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.
Sorry to be a critic or anything but, Thomas the sister to an E2 type steam engine and it’s a British not American, the two places have big differences between how their steam engines look. Thomas also doesn’t have a tender so yea. Anyway aside from the great vid.
Your right about all that, but to a little autistic child that kind of stuff didn't matter one bit. However we do thank you for sharing that info with us. Really appreciate your taking the time to watch the video my friend and may you have a very good day.
That was Sam's job BigUn.... He was the hostler and got to blow the whistle so he should have to dump out the ashes! Thank you very much for taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.
You might be right about that Mike, we all have our own quirks. The big problem with autism is that most public schools are not capable of handling a special needs child like that. Aiden had a horrible time in public school. He is now in a special school specifically for autistic children and it has made a huge world of difference. At some point here this late winter Corrie will be giving a series of videos on autism and those will be shown on my second channel, That's Dave's Other Doings. If you would care to ever see them. Very much appreciate your taking the time to check out the video my friend and may you have a very good day.

Thanks for posting this!! Many thanks to you for coming out to watch the coupler through that turn, he needed someone with your type of knowledge to have eyes on it for him.
Your certainly welcome Barb, it was a lot of fun. Thanks so much

That's pretty cool to hear you got to see how that works Off
TheRails. Nice. Yep, tamp it up then let some trains run over
it and then tamp again, the right way to do it. Thank you my friend for taking the time to watch the video and may you have a very good day.
Looks like a good experience for the boy. Glad to see the railroad helping young folks learn and become more confident.
Thank you for the nice comment William. Your right, it is good
for young uns to learn about railroads. Appreciate very much your taking the time to watch my friend and may you have a very good day.
As a kid we used to take a drive on the back way to Waynesburg and you can see some of the old ROW thanks for sharing Dave
That's pretty cool Mike, do you remember the old motor truck
they had on rail, it was sitting down in West Waynesburg by
the road still on the old tracks. There are a few buildings
left on that ROW you saw but not much else is remaining.
Thank you very much for watching my friend and my you have a very good day.
I`m so glad we got to see #4 again, Dave! I remember the video you made when you guys rebuilt the rails. Thanks. 🚂🚂👍

Sad to hear that No 4 won’t return to steam. Beautiful Mogul
We were hoping you'd hit the lottery Tom and spend all that
money on getting it back under steam.... :-) It would take a lot
to do, plus we need a lot more track to take excursion rides on!
I was not there the day the folks from UK came, however when
we were rebuilding the track there was also visitors from UK,
I met them but not remember at all their names. It surprised me
too it was 3 years ago we did the track, my how time flies by.

Good
for you. Memories you will never forget despite the heat. #4 has
some great guys who take very good care of her and its
so nice she is kept out of the weather in the barn not like she
used to be outside all the time when she first came here.
And yes they keep her oiled up. Very much appreciate your taking the time to check out the video my friend and may you have a very good day.

Enjoyed the Steam Locomotive, but I really loved that little Plymouth Switcher. I had one on my overhead G Gauge layout I had set up many years ago when I got into G Scale trains. Had a sound card for it, sure glad it wasn't as LOUD as the one in your video.🤣🤣🤣
Sadly, it doesn't exist any longer, I had 2 cats and they loved to sleep on the elevated(near ceiling) tracks.
Those darn cats.... how cool you had a Plymouth G scale, I
had no clue they ever made anything like that Mr. Bones. I
can just imagine how you felt when you got home that night. sigh.... Really appreciate your taking the time to watch the video my friend and may you have a very good day.

I noticed that there was very minimal flange on the drive wheels? Was that a design feature or something due to wear, please comment
Very good video!
Keep up the good work !
JIM ❤
The middle driver had no flange at all on it Jim, that is called
a blind driver. Many steam locos had some blind drivers on
them. The W&W RR had a 33 degree curve and had there
been flanges on all drivers the loco would not be able to negotiate the curve that sharp. The other two sets of drivers
have normal flanges on them. Thank you very much your taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.

Glad you enjoyed it KLS816. We really appreciate your taking the

Cooke Locomotive works was in Patterson, NJ. I'm biased so I think they made some amazing Narrow Gauge locomotives there!
Also Thomas is an 0-6-0T, but James the Red Engine is a mogul, though!
Wow I blew it two times in the video then didn't I.... sigh. But
thanks to informed viewers like you, I stand corrected.

"Once upon a time" these were near the acme of human technology, and we now hear that Space x has returned a rocket to the launch pad after an orbit of the Earth.
Once upon a time the Model T Ford was the epitome of travel
too. But once upon a time donkeys were also.... :-) Sweet Mother
of Jesus rode a donkey the day she delivered, too bad she
didn't have #4 loco to take her to the stable.... Or if she had
rode Amtrak now, she most likely would have been late.... LOL
Moral of the story : Donkeys get you there on time, Amtrak not always so..... Very much appreciate your taking the time to watch and may you have a very good day my friend.
It was a first stage booster rocket. They never go into orbit. They go up so high, separate, then normally fall in the ocesn.

Cool memories to have Dave❤ I think the ballast’s needs tamped??? 😊
We got lot's of lining bars out here and track jacks Bill, so
is really nice of you to volunteer to come out and tamp it

Cool place.

To my knowledge you are right Bryan, I don't think there are
any PRR narrow gauge steam locos left. At least if there are,
I don't know about them. For sure I would have totally loved
just being in that loco, but had to work those days. I'll get there
sooner or later tho. And, don't worry, they keep #4 well lubed up. Glad you enjoyed it Larry. Really appreciate your taking the time to watch the video my friend and may you have a very good day.

ACCCCKKKKK❗Thomas is 0-6-0 tank engine, James is a 2-6-0❗
And Thomas is inside connected besides.
Thomas the tank engine overall is British, the moral is American. There aren’t any moguls in Thomas the tank engine
Boy I certainly blew that one didn't I Paul.... good thing I got
you guys around to keep me on my toes! Thank you very much for watching my friend and my you have a very good day.
Did you just copy it from the other one and change the name…
@@ccrx6700 Geeeeeee! Sure didnt know there would be so much bickering over a beautiful narrow guage 2-6-0.............bet they dont bicker at the Cumberland mine RR, Dave would see to that❗
Where did they find that coach?
It's been around Joseph. That coach was once new for the
W&W RR. It's been several places since the WW shut down and
finally came back about 4 years ago. It needs a whole lot of
work. But it and #4 loco are the only surviving pieces of rolling
stock from the W&W RR.
I would love to fire a steam
loco someday, although the older I get the more a stoker seems
to be the way to go than a hand shovel.... :-) We are waiting for
you to hit the lottery and spend that million on getting this
back under steam, and by the way, we need a couple miles of
track built also to run it on.

What's the measurements of the narrow-gage ties❓️
This is a 3 foot gauge track here Rachel. All of the ties are
used ones, some we cut down like out front to make it look
nicer, the rest behind the building are regular ties 8 foot 6 inches
long. The ties in front are 6 feet in length. Cutting ties is really
hard on chain saw chains which is why we left the long ties
out back. Appreciate very much your taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.
Actually Thomas is a LMS Fowler 3F 0-6-0T locomotive

@@ccrx6700 Dave, thanks, thats 914mm. We have in Germany two rails with 900mm trackwide. The first ist Borkumer Inselbahn on the island Borkum in the northsea. The second is the Mecklenburgische Bäderbahn, this Railroad runs between Bad Doberan and Kühlungborn in the near from the baltic sea. Both Rails are not museumsrails, that where rails with regulary trafic. The Borkum Rail runs with diesel and the other with steam. Here i have a videolink from the Mecklenburgische Bäderbahn. Also Thomas's pistons and cylinders are on the INSIDE while the moguls is on the outside
Your right about that Robert.
Is that the common 1,067 mm (3 ft 6 in) gauge?
It is 3 foot gauge mips. Narrow gauge track was built in
a variety of gauges. Thank you very much for taking the time to watch and write in my friend and may you have a very good day.
Do you think that we should have had a wider track for mainline trains like 6 or even 8 foot 🦶
I K Brunel laid his track 7ft 1/4 inch. He was over ruled because more had built standard gauge and his track was converted to standard. I always wish Brunel had got his way. Today trains would be able to carry just about anything.
Good question Clarence. Everyone now complains about how
long trains are. Wider gauge and we could carry more cargo
with a lot less cars. But boy would that be an astronomical
expense to widen all the track, tunnels, bridges, and all the
rolling stock. Really appreciate your taking the time to watch the video my friend and may you have a very good day.
have you ever filmed the ebt?
Not yet Tom, they are on the bucket list but just don't know

I am not familiar with the British class of locos tho, guess I
got some studying to do don't I!
#4 is a nice looking locomotive. Does it move on it's own power yet? Is Aiden your grandson, how old is he ?
Your right about that Kirk, #4 certainly is. They have it set up to
run on it's own on compressed air, but haven't got the compressed air storage figured out yet, that will come eventually.
Aiden is 12, and he loves trains so you know he's my grandson!

Let’s restore the 4 and take it to the EBT , and then we’re going out west to the CNT & D&S.

Now that's a word I had to look up Stubby, his mother never

The big problem with autism is that most public schools are not
capable of handling a special needs child like that. Aiden had
