I like that seanan McGuire is so specific with her blurbs. I hate when I see a generic blurb for example “like nothing I’ve ever read before” or “so unexpected” What the hell does that mean
I love that you actually talked about what blurbs are and the potential for them to be inauthentic as it is something I heard a little bit about before. Clearly you had a great experience, and have sold me on Hench which I've never heard of before and made me want to prioritise Borderline and Heroine Complex as I already have both of those. TFS :)
What a great concept! I’m super impressed that you not only searched for books with her blurbs, but you also researched what she’s said about blurbing. And I’m so excited to hear someone talk about Hench! I’ve been wanting to read it but haven’t heard anyone talk about it either, s now I’m even more eager to get to it! Same with Space Opera, it’s been on my list for awhile and I’ve heard nothing about it anywhere. Hopefully it’ll click with me when I get to it!
Hench was my favorite book of 2020. I forced it upon anyone I came in contact with and forced them to read it. It reminded me of Venture Bros so hard and I was so here for it. Plus, you have a passionate woman who is able to find a position in a place that promotes professional growth and autonomy, is nurturing to the strengths of their employees, has a great healthcare plan, I mean, it was a white collar worker's version of a fairy tale. I was fully in to the book for the work place culture and promotion of female labor and showing that a "feminine" approach can be more optimal in problem solving than a traditional "masculine" approach. Full disclosure, feminine vs masculine is the biggest lie we were ever told, but if we are going to categorize them as such, then it is good to see where feminine approaches can be highlighted as a more desirable approach that has a larger and more effective impact.
I was so curious about Space Opera because Catherine M Valente has such a specific way of writing and I know it can be polarizing. I have read two of her books but one I had to force myself to finish and one was a shorter novella. Always love your videos!
I read the title of this video and thought that you were like in direct contact with Katee Robert and she was sending you specific book recs and I was SHOOKETH. This is cool too lol ❤️❤️
Love this video. I agree with your love of Seanan McGuire. LOVE Wayward Children, and find her work so varied but always strong. Just started her Incryptid urban fantasy series, and LOVE it! Can't wait to read more. Now I will add Borderline, Hench, and Heroine Complex to the TBR list. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I'm crying at "I just need to sit in the dark. in the silence" because that is meeeeee especially when I was student teaching. no more stimuli just sitting in the dark
glad to hear you liked heroine complex! the next book in the heroine complex series is definitely my favorite of the bunch - aveda jupiter a great flawed main character and the romance in her book.... its a lot of fun
This is why you are my new favorite booktube because you reading vlogs are always interesting and creative. I really loved the video you did of reading books with covers like your favorite books and that was really creative. But I love the idea of reading your favorite authors books just by their blurbs !!!!!!
This was such a unique idea🤔 Maybe you need to start a website that lists Authors & blurbs😀 I would definitely look up a site like that for my favourite authors😀
I loved the concept of this video. Regarding Hench, it is actually one of the finalists of Canada Reads 2021. I'm waiting for my library book. Now, I want to read Heroine Complex too.
Love this video idea!! I know I’ve bought several books because my favorite authors blurbed them. That put me over the edge of want into need lol also so glad to see some books that aren’t on everyone’s radar getting some attention.
At 11:30 same , but for me at lest I try to be open mind and also I'm not living in country the native language is English so I trying to read so like I try to read more in my native language as well
This was such a unique video. I love your videos because you always read books that I've never heard of. If you like superhero/villain books I highly suggest the supervillain and me by Danielle Banas. Its so good and cute.
I love this idea! I am curious to see if any of my favourite authors have blurbed any books! I have tried to read Space Opera so many times. I even tried the audiobook. I am determined to finish it for some reason but I have struggled with it!
Added Hench, Borderline and Heroine Complex to my already out of control TBR. I regret nothing as I have decided I will just become immortal so I can keep adding to my TBR. Problem solved. Well, technically still working on the whole becoming immortal thing, but that's why I read so many paranormals, fantasies and sci-fi books. It's research. 😂
Seriously, GR should add a blurb database to their website! The sitting in the dark is me after a long day of teaching teenagers. When I come back home I just sit on the couch, grab one of my cats and just... Log out for a while xD
Someone please tell me why I’m STILL expecting the intro to turn into spooky mode 😂 the music plays in my mind every time
I loved this video so much. You should definitely consider doing this blurb thing again with a different author 😊😊😊
I like that seanan McGuire is so specific with her blurbs. I hate when I see a generic blurb for example “like nothing I’ve ever read before” or “so unexpected” What the hell does that mean
There should've been a platform where you can find specific blurbs so that you didn't have to hunt so hard.
Or if a popular author blurbs a book, they should have a list on their website, maybe with the blurb itself attached.
The dedication 🔥🔥
Your videos are always so creative and wonderful! Plus, I always get at least two recs that I immediately add to my TBR.
Yes! Same here.
Hench was just selected as a Canada Reads pick. That could really boost sales here, so there may be hope for a sequel. Time will tell.
"I need to sit in the dark and in silence" Is a huge mood
I love that you actually talked about what blurbs are and the potential for them to be inauthentic as it is something I heard a little bit about before.

Gonna pick up Hench and I might also pick up borderline as well. Heroine complex I’ve had my eye on for awhile. 😊 loved the video.

I sooooooo relate to your livestream introvert struggles. Anything over an hour and I feel like I have to recharge for 5 days lol.
the plot of Space Opera sounds like that Rick and Morty episode Get Schwifty
‘am i a person’? i felt that
YAS! New video
You expressed my thoughts on Queen of Salt and Fortune EXACTLY! Right down to "it was well written, I'm just dumb!" SAME lol
Love your vlogs!
Seriously, GR should add a blurb database to their website!
The sitting in the dark is me after a long day of teaching teenagers. When I come back home I just sit on the couch, grab one of my cats and just... Log out for a while xD
I am also a self proclaimed introvert
I just started reading historical romance because of your last vlog
Lisa Kleypas has a good back list and is still currently writing.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was disappointed by the Empress :(
Wow Hench is on my TBR but I didn’t realize it was a commentary on police brutality
Super excited to read it now
Ok but why is getting drained from social interaction after a few hours me af 😩
