    Wonderful. A non-Indian learnt Karnatic music and delivered a flawless soulful rendition. Hats off to you Mr.Chong.
    A foreigner could do it, delivered flawless music with correct pronunciation but our own people can't pronounce a famous name like Pattammal or other one_Sundaraman properly. What to say. Attitude thats what lacking in learning to say things or do things in proper manner.

    I am not indian ither, but i am learning hindustani classical music. That shows that music is universal. Interestingly the raagam witch he sings in at the start, is Mohanam or Bhoopali, witch also has some commonalities with Southeast asian music like chinese. My aim or gol in life is to be a Classicaly trained Playbacksinger, so all of you wish me luck, and all the best! Hello from an Iranian or Persian woman living in Sweden: Nicki Rafiei.

    It is an excellant concert I enjoy and we should be proud of a foreign coming out with a good carntic music. His pronunciation is far better than the local tamil people. I am really elated by his Mohanam ragam on Lord Shiva as he is directly taking us at the feet Lord Shiva.

    • @banklootful
      @banklootful 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mohanam scale is in Chinese music

    • @jayashrishobna
      @jayashrishobna 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kathir k The notes of mohanam are in the chinese pentatonic scale, yes. But a raga is far more than the swaras in its arohanam avarohanam, it also encompasses the particular way gamakam is used in the raga and the characteristic phrases used in manodharmam. That's why we don't say mohanam is a janya of sankarabaranam, even tho all the notes are present; it is a janya of harikamboji.
      This young man has really taken an effort to understand the ragas and bring out the phrasings in each, which is no easy feat for someone who probably didn't grow up hearing carnatic music every day. Maybe he's not at the level of manodharmam yet but that's the next step, and I think he'll do great!

    Difficult to believe even after seeing and listening to him on you tube; people who know the language and from the area in and around the carnatic music still could not master the music this Bhagavathar from Malaysia (Chinese) could and perform in front of fully packed audience.
